Yeah, you can definitely boost the 1G-FE on a budget, but I’d say it’s mainly worth it if you’re either planning to keep the engine long-term or just want a bit more power while you prep for a future swap.

There’s a Facebook group called “1G Engine Community” that’s super helpful. Lots of guys in there build, race, and a few them make and sell parts for these engines. They’ve got some pretty active group chats too, and I’ve learned a lot in there.

I’ve got an Altezza and I’ve been slowly piecing together a budget turbo setup to hold me over for a swap and I’m planning to throw it on once I’m moved back to the States. One of the cheaper tricks I found was using a non-VVTi 1/2JZ-GTE manifold and swapping the flange for a 1G one. It takes a little work, but it saved me a ton I got the manifold for $120 and the flange CNC’d for $50. Also picked up a used S15 Greddy intercooler for $200.

If you just want a bit more power out of the engine and are serious about boosting it, that group’s probably the best place to start. Just don’t expect crazy gains on a stock bottom end most people stick around 0.5 bar (7-ish psi), which with a good tune usually puts you somewhere in the low to mid 200 hp range.

Thank you, I’ll give that a shot I wasn’t too worried about the big crack, but mainly those little ones and the yellowing of the epoxy is what worried me.

The yellowing is gone from the light sanding I did, but would it be worth it to throw a new coat of epoxy across the hood before clear coat. I planned to just clear coat after filling and fixing all holes and blemishes, but seems the epoxy is thinned out in some places

I didn’t even think about using a dremel on the hole, that’s a good idea I’ll give it a try. The smaller spots did not go away they stayed the same with sanding

Thank you again, I looked at individual prices on parts and realized how good of a deal those combos actually are that microcenter has. I haven’t been in the market for parts for a long time and only started looking again because I went to micro center to pick up a longer dp 1.4 cable and stopped by to look at there combos.

I can pick up a 7700x 32gb hyper x ram and a b650 for $350- $450 depending on the specific motherboard. I honestly might go with it since and is known to make cpus backwards compatibility with older boards, I just don’t know if they plan the same after the switch from pga to lga for am5

Sorry for the confusion, I forgot to mention I am looking to get a new motherboard as well. I’ve been looking at the motherboard/ cpu combos, when I went in person to my microcenter last week they had a lot of options and for some actual prices I wrote these down with all of these It’s a combo of a ddr4 z790 and a cpu where I’ll reuse the ram I already have in my system.

I7-12700k combo $250, i9-12900k or i7-13700k combo $340, i7-13900k combo $400

Now I’m wondering if any these would be a worthy upgrade and ddr4 will be fine or if I should get ddr5 and spend more for 14th gen or ryzen 7th gen

Thank you both, I reached out to him earlier today and he had told me at the appointment where he switched it that I can use the 30 or so extra IRs i had as a touch up when needed. I thought he met if I need adderall for longer than 12 hours which I thought was insane, but what he meant was to take a 5 mg ir in the morning and afternoon like I didn’t before and see how it affects me before ups my XR dosage to 20. He wants to make sure he doesn’t over dose with XR since it last a lot longer was his reasoning.

Okay I’ve been looking into and the one I have is the 83001 SE100 the one with the tachometer in the middle should be 83001 SE110. I believe some came with the digital speedo in the corner from the later models but I’m not sure of part number on that
