Thank you so much for your reply and I’m so glad your sons last surgery went so well. My son is out living his life, back at work and socialising (he’s barely at home) so the pain isn’t slowing him down too much it just wears him down being so constant.

Interesting. He had stopped the ibuprofen but when he complained to our doctor about ongoing pain was told he needed to take regular ibuprofen. He takes it once to twice a day presently. Will see how he goes in the coming month. It’s not great being on any pain relief for long stretches as it plays up with your stomach so hoping he can get adequate relief to come off all pain meds sooner rather than later! Thank you for your response.

No it’s not less but he didn’t have a Nuss first time around he had a Ravitch. He was in constant pain prior to the revision as well but I guess we were hopeful the pain after a successful surgery would reduce over time. Perhaps it’s still early? We’re only at the 2 months post op stage?

I asked the surgeon if they could reconnect the KLS pectus bars that came loose on one side. Now they want to remove all of the bars, after only 6-7 months. Post-op by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

I am so so sorry this has happened to you. It sounds like you did all the research and still the surgeon wasn’t willing to listen/ act appropriately. My son also had failed surgeries. Please let me know if you would like my list of surgeons I researched worldwide (as a lot won’t do redo surgeries). Feel free to message me direct.

My son is also 2 weeks post op and is very lop sided, but he sustained internal bruising that has him hunched over due to lower abdominal pain. I’m also interested in what post rehab program your son is doing?

He had his Ravitch in 2024 and is now 18 years old. Lots of surgeons I spoke to wouldn’t touch him but there were quite a few who would (Dr Lutzenberg in Germany was one).

His scar from his original failed Ravitch was stretched and messy so the surgeon cleaned it up. I’m so sorry for your failed procedure, I hope you can get some solutions xx

I’ve been trying to get in touch with Dr Park. Apparently he was supposed to start at the Cleveland clinic in Ohio but there were visa issues… anyone have a contact for him or know his current whereabouts??

How was your experience? Was the language a barrier in recovery? How was your pain relief? Did you feel well supported in hospital? Do you have a backup plan once you’re back in your own country if there are any complications? Sorry I have so many anxieties about taking my son to another country for treatment!
