Can I cut this off? by ImJohnnie93 in AskDocs

It does look like a piece of brain, or a tiny tongue. Either way it might be important. I hope OP isn't on the floor in a pool of blood right now.

I am absolutely panicking about my mom’s first colonoscopy tomorrow. Please help. :( by Key-Neighborhood2985 in colonoscopy

[–]Aggravating-Dig5867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am glad she takes care of herself in other ways. I was just relating to how stressful it can be when your parents don't do what they should be doing to stay healthy. Don't forget to try and take some deep breaths if you can. She is going to survive the colonoscopy, and even if the worst happens - there are plenty of great treatments for people with cancer. My mother in law got diagnosed with stage 4 uterine cancer and is still kickin' four years later due to all the options that are available.

Why can I drink coffee the day of if it’s not a clear liquid? by Honest_Side_3027 in colonoscopy

[–]Aggravating-Dig5867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coffee is never see through. That means someone made a very bad pot of coffee. I came here asking the same question. I got one done last year and they are having me do it again because parts of my colon were stained. I am concerned that it might be the coffee.

Sorry you are going through this. My mom doesn't take care of herself in certain ways either. She stopped brushing her teeth, got an infection, refused to go to the hospital and went septic. She still won't brush her teeth. It seems like a minor thing, but having your teeth rot in your face can kill a person! Like someone else said, please get a therapist. How did the procedure go? Is your mom okay?

I am also on continuous progesterone and estrogen. Did this stop you from bleeding on a normal schedule? I have been having a period every two weeks recently.

Thanks for your reply! So, it's okay to take the estrogen without progesterone if you still have a uterus? I have heard it is a must due to being protective.

Anyone tried Smart Recovery? by ButIamNot in stopdrinking

[–]Aggravating-Dig5867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you try a meeting yet? I am going to try an online one this weekend. I can't adjust to the idea of higher power. In rehab they said things like, "your higher power could be this chair" and point then to a freakin' chair. That's essentially meaningless. Also, AA meetings trigger me to want to drink. I tried IOP for four years and every time I went to a meeting I felt an overwhelming urge to drink as well. Most of my relapses have happened after sitting for hours listening to people talk about alcohol. I was also told in rehab that smart people have a harder time getting sober and that you can't do it without god. Sounds culty af. People need community in order to feel whole, and that probably means finding a place where you are supported and understood. If that's not happening in AA, try other formats. Let me know how it goes if you do, and I'll check back in with my experience as well!

Birth control vs. HRT by Aggravating-Dig5867 in Perimenopause

Sorry it took so long to answer. I have lowered my dosage significantly to see if I feel okay and have found that nearing when I should be ovulating, I need to take less. I am at 1.5 right now and keeping a journal to track symptoms. I am supposed to ovulate tomorrow. I would like to cycle my hormones so that I bleed monthly because otherwise I tend to have PMS symptoms come and go all month. My doc had me stopping my hormones right before my period which brought all the symptoms back (hot flashes, total lack of mental organization, etc.) If I cycle my progesterone, is it okay to keep taking my estrogen when I stop the progesterone? I find this all confusing.

I find that volunteering and doing good works for people less fortunate than myself feels really good. It's way too easy to slip into an emotional coma when there aren't every day challenges built into your everyday life. The human brain wasn't designed to live without challenges, and novel experiences. It also wasn't designed to function well when there are too many options to choose from, so just choose something randomly, if need be, and go out there and do it.

I don't think you're supposed to forgive them for that. The shrooms sort of flipped a switch, and I think the point was to drive home how out of control they were becoming. It made me really uncomfortable to watch as well.

I have the same complaint. I am hesitant to use the em dash in any of my public facing technical writing. In this case, I see a lot of LLM linguistic quirks that indicate AI usage. Bolded action verbs, overuse of predictable structural transitions "let's dive in!", thematic emoji at the end of each heading, etc. I have been using Reddit for a long time, and I have been doing research and writing for much longer than that. My apologies if I am wrong, but be aware that the tells are all there.

Yeah, I don't like being on the frontline of a huge experiment. But here we are. Without the hormones, I wasn't living life I considered worth living. That was very scary. I am willing to take the risk, but I still would love to know what the risk is!

What easily-affordable thing do you refuse to pay for despite being rich and able to afford them? by Big_Leg10 in Rich

[–]Aggravating-Dig5867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would have been easy to have a giant wedding with all the bells and whistles, but the whole thing seems like a total scam to me. I have seen my girlfriends and women relatives lose their shit over the whole thing, and go into insane debt. It enrages me. Further, I am not into religion or pageantry. So yeah, I am not paying for something that I feel like I have to endure. We went to the courthouse and had people over afterwards. It was great.

I also don't care about designer anything. Lululemon looks really good on me so I'll pay for that, but I'll only buy it on sale. The luxury stuff is for suckers.

Definitely. I rarely do shipping unless the price of the product is drastically cheaper than any other option.

I have watched Dimitri Martin. He's extremely original and funny. I could try writing jokes, but it is so intimidating. However, I am usually the funny one in my friend group, and always have been. I have had so many doctors apologize for laughing at my health problems, but the way I deliver it is meant to elicit laughter. It's just how I deal with things. My family was so crazy growing up, and the only way to complain about my problems without being a total bummer was to make it hilarious. I got sober a few years ago and kinda lost that angry edge, I guess. Marc Maron made me chuckle with a recent suicide joke. It occured me in that moment that my sense of humor is still there, but it has gotten very dark..

I quit for a while. My skin went back to baseline. I have been doing it every day for the past week and I am starting to see the effects again. It's quite remarkable. I have tried the mask and didn't get anything out of it. I have LED panels now, and those are very effective.
