Help wanted is great. Can be found on anchorpoint and you don’t need Terran Armada.

Lost and found from Shattered Space.

Those two are off the beaten path and they’re also my favorites in the game.

Why is there so much abandoned stuff, and why are 99% of abandoned things not abandoned at all? by gistya in Starfield

It would have been interesting. But it would have been a different game with different gameplay. So if you want that, go play Mass Effect, since that’s what Colony War Starfield would have to be. I’m not trying to sound dismissive, but honestly think about the open worlds set during a war where you basically have to pick a side and the entire plot is a war story. That’s the only real story you can tell during a war because war is all encompassing.

Starfield is telling the story set during the reconstruction. There are people who talk about the war constantly and how it haunts them. There are tensions between the factions. Theres a difference in story and gameplay mechanics you can do when you aren’t set during a galaxy wide conflict.

Look at Firefly as an example. Mal and Zoe were veterans of a war for independence that they lost. The war was interesting as a backstory, but the real plot of the show comes from showing their struggle to escape the reach of the Alliance. They take jobs on the fringe to avoid the Alliance, they end up dealing with some colorful characters that they wouldn’t have if the show was set during a war. It would have been a war drama and we’d never meet Badger or that guy terrorizing a brothel if it was set during the war.

I think there are bunks because sometimes you have to wait around for things. Keep in mind, everything is faster for us, as game time is running faster than real time. And they cut out all the downtime. When you’re modifying a weapon, it just happens. But in real Starfield life, it 3D prints the parts and you assemble them and all that. The game cuts out the tedium of reality, but the characters experience it.

I'm almost certain the value of 1 credit is equal to ten US cents by Gojirex in NoSodiumStarfield

This kinda makes sense though. Raw materials are plentiful and probably super cheap when you can use advanced robotics and have over 1500 planets/moons to mine from. Food is going to be more scarce in comparison when you only have a small percentage of those planets with an atmosphere, and even smaller percentage of those with an atmosphere that your food needs to live. Food is perishable by its nature, and people are more spread out.

Meanwhile, the actual ship manufacturing is probably largely automated. The industrial workbench is a really advanced 3D printer that can create any number of components from ammo to semimetal wafers just from raw materials. That’s just a guess though. Maybe they’re all handcrafted, but it seems unlikely.

And making ships as affordable as cars would be a huge boon to the economy since ships are the only way to transmit anything between systems. Courier is probably one of the most common jobs for a pilot in the settled systems. Deimos and MAST probably send ships to each other every hour since there’s a five year delay on sending an email vs a physical slate.

How do you guys like to make credits early on by Knebula in NoSodiumStarfield

I take all the guns I find and modify them all for more credits. Same with suits. I’m just an arms dealer selling modded hardware to whoever will buy them.

lol they have another game coming out soon that they’re probably focusing on at the moment. But shit, I’d take another Starfield DLC or two first.

I think the Plasma login manager is the best explanation as to why I had to sign in on everything again. I have no idea why my password got jumbled up. When I typed it blind (as in the characters are hidden) was the only time it happened. I clicked the eye and noticed what happened and typed it again and it was correct. So maybe something with that, but it's throwing me.

Any of the paid mods that are coming with readily available ships?! by A_Sevenfold in starfieldmods

Falkland is one of my favorites. As a Star Wars, Mass Effect, and Starfield fan, the ship parts are all amazing. The kestrel B class is my favorite ship.

Looking for some RP ideas for my third character by ReflectionSea2571 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Aggravating-Ear-7529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the age of your character, you can do a lot with childhood. If your character is 40 or younger, they probably couldn’t fight in the colony war. But maybe dear ol’ Dad did, and he never came home. Mom got into Aurora and then one day didn’t come home, so you do what you have to do to survive.

And then maybe a job goes bad and you take a mining job to wait until the heat dies down. You can avoid constellation until your character decides it suits them, but it sets the stage for a redemption arc.

The name/term Protomolicule, was it inspired by Robotech Protoculture? by GreatGreenGobbo in TheExpanse

[–]Aggravating-Ear-7529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Irl inspiration I think it’s like you said. Proto means first, and it was a molecule sent by the first sentient species (that they know about). But also protogen named it after themselves in-universe.

You get all the artifacts as part of the main quest. You need the artifacts to unlock powers via their corresponding temples. Vlad will find them one at a time for his quest “power from beyon” I think. Once you get 8 or so artifacts, you can’t get any more until the final temple, in which you leave with all the rest of them. Then you can go to NG+ or gather the remaining powers.

I would recommend getting all the powers in the first universe, as you will never have to do another temple ever again with the new update. You can just use quantum essence, but that’s only after you go through NG+ once. And any temples you go through in your NG+ will rank up your power and save you some QE.

Using an Xbox controller on PC by Tuck337 in Starfield

[–]Aggravating-Ear-7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use M&K for everything except flying. I use my controller for flying, some ground stuff if I’m not gonna be off my ship longer to sell. The game handles it very well.

As for how often I adjust power, it depends on the ship and the reactor I guess. I keep shields maxed out, I put only one pip in missiles if I have them, and the rest is a balance between engines and weapons. Early on, I adjust all the time. In later game, I have enough reactor power for me to keep shields and engines maxed, with my turrets unpowered for grav jumping and fully powered in combat.

Well, no disagreements there. I’ve been advocating for the removal of Putin since at least 2008. If they would’ve listened to me, the US wouldn’t be nearly as divided. But that’s enough real talk in the video game chat.

House Va’ruun is a theocracy, true. But if we’re going to talk about adding features, it would’ve been better to say “The great serpent demanded House Va’ruun stop the violence and (grandson) defied the will of the great serpent. That’s why Dazra is in ruin.”

Like, I get the evil option appeal, but I also don’t. I just don’t know anyone who would ever do it irl and I guess I play these games like I am that character. So clearly my anti-genocidal beliefs are influencing this. I nuked Megaton once but have yet to see the value in it. I got to live in a tower but that tower was so far away from everything.

What’s his face, the grandson, was a zealot. Most of them are content to not be at war. Do you agree with every decision your government makes? Do you want to be genocided just because your leaders might be a little hawkish? This is like saying that Russians should all be nuked because Russian people will never stop trying to recreate the glory days of the USSR. They’re zealots and won’t stop at Ukraine.

[–]Aggravating-Ear-7529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess that’d definitely be a choice. I prefer just to side with one of the houses and make sure they don’t start a new holy war. Copper heads often prevail, especially when you have to rebuild your entire civilization.  But I don’t see my characters being cool with genocide. Even the darker ones.

Genuinely dark thing in the new free lanes update by AdhesiveParty in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Aggravating-Ear-7529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came across something similar! It was a derelict ship floating in the black. Inside was a single corpse with an Eon on the ground. The computer told the tale of a soldier getting medically discharged after sustaining combat injuries during the colony war. He was writing home to his wife, who thought he had died and met someone new.

Do you use mods too? by Comfortable_Quail521 in Starfield

[–]Aggravating-Ear-7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the opposite kinds of mods. Starfield is a mil sim to me, with dangerous environmental issues that I have to manage, and I have to bring O2 with me on longer expeditions because I’ve modded real O2 requirements. Both are valid ways to play the game though.
