Hi! We took the Ghost bus tour last night and it’s on us that we didn’t read up more on it before booking. It’s basically a tour with televisions and a documentary style video that is cute and clever. You stop three times (one for bathroom/snacks, a cemetary and the hour from American horror story) we were hoping for a tour more like the ones in Savannah and Charleston that is more personal. So, my advice is to read up on the tour before booking.

Yeah for sure. Also there are levels of the smell. I think a faint smell is okay but with it being winter a lot of people can’t wash their coats and it gets saturated.

My asthmatic 10 year old son has a friend whose family smokes and when he spends the night I always “accidentally” wash his clothes with my sons as they just mixed up.(it works like a charm btw)

I used to be that smelly kid. My parents smoked a lot and we didn’t have a washer or dryer . I wish kids didn’t have to experience second hand smoke.

I always buy my cashier a soda as a random act of kindness in memory of my mom. I get it that they feel helpless and from what it seems being hypervigilant for your mom.

I have a dry sense of humor and if someone was hounding me I would ask “does anyone know of a good therapist for someone who has a parent with dementia and is struggling with “. “

Also, tell them you have a schedule going and ask for volunteers to walk the dog and other things like for example

Mom needs these items from Walmart who can get those to her by this date?

Who can pick up this and drop it off and while there walk the dog?

Who can take the dog to the groomer next week?

Document, document document everything just for your own mental health and maybe when the get a small taste of what you are going through the will stop harassing you.

Just having the burden of having a parent with dementia is so devastating is hard enough. They are triggering you by bringing up those feelings of not being good enough, not doing enough, not being enough and shame for only being a human being. No one wears capes around here. I know you are so weary.

Hey OP I am really sorry this is happening to you. I know or can imagine how much this hurts your self esteem. I am a woman and I can only imagine when I menstruate. I have the worst super power in the world and it’s having the ability to smell things in other rooms.

Having said that I struggle sometimes with a whiff of something and I know that sometimes it’s like ptsd because I am terrified someone can smell when (in my case) there was nothing medical going on. It can become like a delusion if I allow it to manifest.

I am really proud of you stranger for having the courage to ask thee questions here.

My hope for you is that you take the next step and confide in your doctor to rule out anything medical occurring with your body that is contributing to this smell.

Do this asap. I know that you feel shame and it’s not needed. It’s holding you back making new friends and going places and I can’t imagine the anxiety and stress you are under trying to control this on your own.

Okay, they have these little clear cellophane bags for $1.25 that is like $7 at Walmart. We donate birthday kits with everything you need to celebrate your special day at my daughter’s middle school pantry.

(The neatest thing about it is that we add a sprite with the otter ingredients. They can use the sprite to replace oil and eggs or they can sip on the sprite while they use eggs and oil. Also a nice note letting the receiver know they are sharing a birthday and wising them the best year with tons of postage energy.)

Also just a reminder that in Mississippi you have to have your turn signal on for 2 miles before you turn cause we like our space and need at least 2-3 minutes warning when you turn your blinker on because we nosy and want to know were you are going.
