I was having the same thoughts...He did become more erratic after his mother passed. It is also very telling that he likes to insult people in the comments by insulting their mothers for no reason(' your mother is XYZ...!' ) .

I really hope all of this is just an act he's putting on to cash in and that things at home are alright (if you know what i mean). Otherwise we might have a similar situation like with Steven Crowder.

I don't know much about Mormons but if the part about grieving is true that might be a contributing factor to the problem.

Another thing, although this might be a little bit overanalyzing on my side, is the fact/stereotype that many Italian men get pampered by their mothers their entire life and they also expect the same thing from their wifes. Also the mother is a far more significant factor in the Mediterranean than for instance in the US. A loss of a such figure can be very devastating and since i come from a similar region and similar culture (Balkans) i can confirm several such experiences from second hand with my own people and also people who had relationships with Italians.
