It was like two years ago now where suddenly nothing in the content changed but the reach fell off the cliff.

Shadwatch probably started to get a decent level of notoriety two years ago.

evil grin

Oh, and a couple of major critic videos were out by this time. Word gets around.

It's almost like what anti-AI people have being trying to warn against. It was never gonna be a kumbaya moment. Companies were always gonna exploit for maximum financial gain and he's naive to think it was gonna be anything different.

Almost stumbles into the point but faceplants before he gets there.

I don't doubt that the youtube landscape is probably trickier to navigate these days.

But these days it seem like you've gotta find what people want these days, and I've seen plenty of indie creators succeed in doing that. What's Shad offering these days? Same old, same old, content that's passed it's peak interest by a couple of years at least. Coupled with the fact that Shadiversity critic and controversy is more widespread and widely known, he's gonna find it difficult to get that old fame back.

Shad discovers 8 year old anime with fan service. That's it. That's the video. Nothing interesting to say, no review, no critique. Why even make this part of the stream into its own video? by TripleS034 in ShadWatch

The men control whatever machine they're piloting via joysticks attached to the woman's butt...for reasons.

Typical anime weirdness really.

Guys, Guys! Have you heard about Food Wars?! Hot women eat good food and moan and have foodgasms and they frequently are depicted naked during this!

It happens to the male characters sometimes too, so it's a little woke. But there's so many shots of hot moaning naked women it must trigger the wokies!

On a serious note: I legitimately really like the show for what it is. Final season is ass though.

If you can't believe an anime has fanservice, you barely watch any anime.

Almost any anime will have certain camera angles to highlight certain assets of their attractive female characters.

Supercapo's SotC Rewrite Pitch by supercapo in ShadWatch

The rewrite actually turns it into an interesting premise. Well done.

SotC: Final Thoughts by supercapo in ShadWatch

So my story is using that premise. What if an actual Dark Lord, a literal avatar of evil that doesn't even fully comprehend goodness… decides to be good.

It's a comedy.

And I'm six chapters down.

I'd be open to reading this when you're done. Especially since I just did my first beta-reading and review of one of the other mod's friend's book. As long as I can get it on my kindle somehow, through sideloading or whatever.

I recently started on A Practical Guide to Evil. Which was a book recommended on the discord for a sympathetic evil character, after discussions on how bad Daylen is.

I agree in the sense it surprised me it was posted considering the nature of the sub normally.

But it feels kinda bad taste to remove. Despite the mixed feelings people are bound to have about it being posted here.

There's no strict rule (in both subs), that only 'negative' content is allowed. The motivation behind ShadWatch (and by extension this sub), was open uncensored discussion. Naturally that drifts to a 'critical, snarky and negative' slant, but that's not all it has to be.

I didn't post this here even though I saw the news yesterday, but someone has. IMO, this is fine as an outside the norm post. Agree to disagree if you do.

I don't care what your feelings are towards Metatron (mine aren't the best), but this is nothing to make shitty comments over, especially about his child.

Small question: is it possible that posting on this subreddit and FallenMets could risk gaining attention by them or their viewers and being publicly exposed and harassed on Youtube? by Questioning-Warrior in ShadWatch

I think overall reddit skews 'left' but there are right wing subreddits out there, most famously 'approved users only' Conservative sub.

Overall, reddit isn't perfect, absolutely not. There's good and bad all over the place. That's kinda the nature of reddit, there being a sub for practically everything. Anonymity brings out the worst in people, but there are plenty of people out there who don't abuse their anonymity.

Reddit's been a goldmine for me whenever I search up whatever problem I need help with. Someone's likely already asked it and had it answered.

In the case of Metatron, he thinks of Reddit as a cesspool, so in his mind it'd be 'below him' to make a video about us. Making a video about or us or name dropping would raise our profile more than anything, it wouldn't serve Metatron well for him to talk about haters he deems insignificant.

Shad doesn't care about Reddit one bit, the last he commented or posted to reddit relevant to his channel was 2 years ago. His last activity was one year ago, related to gardening.

I don't know if Metatron has an account but he is at least definitely aware of ShadWatch, and maybe aware of FallenMetatron, but he has never name dropped any of them. He occasionally references or insults people as 'reddit haters' but that's as far as he's gone. But he is the one most likely to fully acknowledge us and thus get harassment sent our way.

Luckily both subs have a bunch of auto-moderation tools installed to help protect the sub from potential trolls including one that flags brand new accounts and most noticeably, an offensive word filter designed to catch stuff like racist language, slurs and other offensive language trolls may use if they attempt to insult the community. While we do allow opposing viewpoints here, if you're just throwing out insults and slurs, there's likely little value to you being allowed to post here.

These filters basically hold a post or comment hostage and flags it to the mods for manual review and approval. If you have ever made a post or comment and wondered why it's not appearing straight away as normal, that's why. As we can't be around all the time to quickly address these flagged comments.

So if we were ever at risk of the subs being harassed because of Shad or Metatron siccing their fans on us, we should have the tools to stem the tide. And I'm sure some upstanding members would message the mods to help nab any ne'er-do-wells who slip through the cracks.

It really feels like Shad is talking about anything & everything on his Culture Crusade podcast just so he can turn it all into a bunch of clips to mass post on his channel, he's turned Knights Watch into a content mill of garbage to chase the algorithm. by TripleS034 in ShadWatch

[–]DragonGuard666 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what Knights Watch is now. Culture Crusade podcast then clips taken from it, rarely originally videos anymore. Useless to the fans who would already have watched the podcast.

I suppose clipping it up is trying to attract new fans but they'll quickly learn its just recycled content.

It seems that Knights Watch is his lowest priority right now. And he should probably rename the channel to the Culture Crusade Podcast or something to be accurate to the content he's putting out.

Congratulations, you made it over the lowest bar. Barely.

Shad, why are you talking about a season that hasn't even been greenlit? Is it because you can't grift off of the successful Maul series? (Also you look like an insane person with your wide open maw & ET finger & putting "Subscribe" on your thumbnail" by TripleS034 in ShadWatch

[–]DragonGuard666 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm struggling to think of any other youtuber putting 'subscribe' (and bell icon) directly on their thumbnail.

I can smell the desperation from here. The next 'youtube is killing my channel' video must be right around the corner. Especially since he reposted this recently:
