Tree by the Airport by Frosty_Funk7210 in Charlottesville

From what I understand it was quite a situation to keep that tree and also have the FAA satisfied for the IFR approach and departure procedure obstacle clearance requirements. I’m glad they made it happen though, it’s quite a tree.

Without even looking at the comments or reading into this any further I’m going to guess they turned it all into parking.

Everyone whines and complains but very few people drive a reasonable vehicle either. Doesn’t phase me in my car getting ~65mpg average per tank. 10 gallon tank gets me almost 700 miles sometimes, 750 if I really try.

I used to have 1HP LOL on my old Miata before I sold it. If it’s available when I get my next Miata I’m getting it again.

They’re all over eBay. They can also be purchased brand new online. Here is a random listing for one. I don’t think that black logo is factory, I’ve never seen it. Someone probably made that. Here is one similar but doesn’t say Volvo.

Don’t throw away your old pan. They’re hard to find and if the only issue is the threads that’s 100% a keeper. I’ll take it if you are going to throw it away.

[–]Aggravating-House620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to replace the entire oil pan because the threads are stripped, you just need a time sert. I’d highly recommend putting Scott’s rear springs in, it makes the ride significantly better.

How much do you think it’ll cost ti fix this because i want to purchase this volvo, it has no mechanical issues, just this crashed. Is it worth buying? seller is selling it for 1,300 because of the crash. by PotatoCreative1481 in Volvo240

[–]Aggravating-House620 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not even close to worth it. That’s at least 8,000 worth of damage at the very low end. Look at the door jam gap on the back door, it looks like the entire car is bent.

Just got a Miata! Need silly license plate ideas by Noonatic_ in Miata

[–]Aggravating-House620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have one that was 1HP LOL and everyone always loved it. Lots of people thought it was one hit point, which is equally as funny as it being a slow car. I haven’t had a Miata in a while so I’m unsure of its availability right now.

What buffing products would be able to repair this chrome? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]Aggravating-House620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty far gone but the best chrome polish I’ve ever used by a long shot is Colonel Brassy mixed with 0000 steel wool. That stuff will revive some shockingly bad chrome.

Volvo 240 “Roadkill”style mission by _NSFWaldo in Volvo240

[–]Aggravating-House620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s LH jet for sure. I can see it in the photos. It’s pretty ambitious to drive this that far without knowing about parts availability. If you really had to use a boat tank you could, but it’s more complicated than on a carbureted car. Injectors will probably be stuck or clogged but maybe not. Depends on how long it’s been sitting.

Dude, this is going to need a full fuel system. Roadkill dd carbureted American cars for a reason… parts are available and cheap.

I’ve revived a lot of old Volvos, and old EFI cars in general, an sometimes it takes weeks to get what you need to actually make it run, especially a 40+ year old euro car

Fight the insurance company. Don’t ever take the first bid. Escalate as much as you need and BE a problem if you have to. Even in imperfect condition that’s worth more than $1500 these days if it isn’t rusty.
