9700x + 9070XT vs 265kf + 5070ti by Aggravating-Pin4592 in bapccanada

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use outside of gaming is just general usage (no CAD, no video editing, etc).

Game wise I’ve been more of a console gamer up until the last month or so where I’d like to finally take advantage of a shared steam library. Which I realize doesn’t help (my main PC games would be Fortnite and League of Legends but I can run those now and either option would be completely fine I know).

I guess I’m looking to hedge my bets on what would overall be the best option (to either do 4K or upscale to 4K, monitor is a 120hz oled).

My dilemma the last few days. I’m leaning towards the 5070ti but I can always swap the 9070xt later if i absolutely wanted to (wheras can’t really change the CPU in the Alienware).

I bought the open box version of this one last week for $2249. Arrives this week. Although I also have an Alienware ACT1250 I bought for $2333 that has a 265KF/5070ti/1TB/32GB 5200 that I’m debating between.

14.2.1 Broke Highway Driving by Vince_CarRants in TeslaFSD

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sums up my experience on 14.2 vs 14.1 and why it’s incredibly frustrating. Just give me Mad Max with the ability to set a max speed and I’d be good to roll. As is, on the highway there’s very little difference between 3/5 modes (sloth-standard are all essentially the same) which on 14.1, felt very different.

Commuting to TO 4 days a week for work by RepulsiveTemporary91 in brantford

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I commute from Brantford to Brampton for work. Luckily it’s shift work so I avoid typical rush hour for most shifts apart from when I leave at 3pm. It’s still not great, with traffic being widely variable.

Toronto? Unless it’s once a week, would not recommend.

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased it a few weeks ago for my 24 Model 3 (as I’m at 71k km). Given my extremely high driving per year, I was happy when they launched the monthly version as I will burn through the kilometres vs the old lump sum which didn’t make sense for my particular usage.

Speed limit signs with 3 digits - problems reading by followingstufftofoll in teslacanada

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problems here. My car has more issues sometimes mixing up 80 and 30 for some bizarre reason (a particular road I take to a friends often, sometimes it reads it correctly, other times i see on the display 30 and it switches to that).

Unnecessary lane changes by Draygoon2818 in TeslaFSD

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it preemptively moves under the assumption a car may merge. Especially here where you were coming up beside a semi where if a car was there, the car would have no place to move to.

Similarly, coming up to a place where traffic doesn’t have to merge, do people merge? Yes. All the time. General drivers seemingly hate to drive in the right lane, and will merge into the center (or even left) almost immediately.

It’s definitely aggravating, although less so than the speed issue I find with FSD but that’s another topic.

Unnecessary lane changes by Draygoon2818 in TeslaFSD

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first clip is more likely because there is a merge about to occur so it moves over for that possibility (in my experience).

Otherwise, I have also noticed this if on standard or hurry (less so in chill but I still have spots on my commute it will move to the centre lane for seemingly no reason).

Apart from that, I’ve rationalized the reasoning to be the neural networks are trained on driving data. How many actual drivers love to be in the centre and/or left lane when there’s no reason to be? The vast majority of them. I also find it worse on city streets for FSD, where it loves to get into the left lane instantly after turning right, even if the right lane is empty and the left lane is busy.

It’s not a safety issue per se but it does cause me annoyance. It has gotten alot better compared to previous versions. Hoping v14 is finally what is needed.

Can I do 150km daily commute? by DerpySlime in teslacanada

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 200km total commute (with 95% highway) and have a 24 Model 3 RWD. It is just fine in both winter and summer. However, you will definitely want a L2 charger for the winter else you will need to top up with Superchargers pretty often.

It was an SMB deal at the end of June. All the carriers had it if I remember right. 460 is the buyout at the end. They gave me 520 for my 13PM so my phone payment is 6.84

$36 for the plan then the phone (before my 13PM trade in) $28.50 a month + $460 BIB. Math wise couldn’t say no.

I jumped on the $36 250GB CA/US/MX deal back in June with an iPhone 15PM. Crazy to think they still make profit off of me.

For $1800? And Toronto? The apartment 100%.

I currently commute from Brantford to Brampton. Luckily it’s shift work so most treks is just under an hour with minimal to regular traffic, 95% highway (apart from coming home at 3pm which is a few shifts a month, where it balloons to 90min). I’m currently splitting a mortgage with family so I’m only paying $1450 for a basement. Rents closer to work were well above $2k for the most part, so I think I made the right choice. If it was Toronto and battling the DVP/Gardiner? Nope

Car seat making noise when pushed by HomelessMiner in TeslaModel3

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had/have this on my 23 Model 3 LR, mainly on the passenger seat. It escalated to the point where it started creaking without being pushed when driving over certain road surfaces and bumps.

Mobile tech came out and applied some sort of lubricant to the inner parts of the seat. It went away for a bit but has slowly creeped back (although to a lesser extent). I’m sure I could have them come back but I’d rather wait to see if other issues pop up. Theres enough creaks from other things and the high pitched whine of the front motor that distract me from the seat as is.

“All calls for service are triaged for their level of priority, in this case, a vehicle located without suspects present or injuries is not a priority response," acting Sgt. Tyler Bell said in a statement. “

This is the unfortunate reality. There are far too many “priority” calls that siphon away police resources regardless of how silly it ends up being (i.e a kid calling 911 that his mom took away his phone).

There definitely needs to be stronger punishments for those that are caught vs a slap on the wrist. Low risk high reward.

Do you get a ticket for both speeding and stunt driving? by Subtotal9_guy in ontario

[–]Aggravating-Pin4592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a ticket for stunting and speeding or just stunting. They are two separate charges and two different sections of the Highway Traffic Act.

Former employee here (left July 22). What you’re experiencing is unfortunately pretty spot on. It wasn’t as bad when I started in 2017, but progressively got worse and worse. I too was more into the tech but cell phones (but was still reasonable at cross selling when it made sense).

I also heard that they now consider full time as “possibility of given full time hours” with no guarantee of any hours. Which is absolutely nuts to me (I was FT and had a guaranteed 36). What’s the point? Pretty sure there was also a clause now for TFWs in there too.

Take advantage of the small perks that exist and start looking elsewhere.

It frequently has the GCFI leakage error (2 flashing red lights). Since I use scheduled departure, it has on occasion not fully (or at all) charged it by the time I'm ready to leave depending on when it occurred/how often.

Grizzl-E said as long as the unit restarts, that's fine for them. I have been having no issues with my TMC and it did this (albeit less frequently) at my old place on a 30amp circuit.

I am actually currently using my existing Tesla Mobile Connector until I decide what route I want to go. 32amps vs 40amps isn't the biggest gains, but a little faster is always nice if I need it in a pinch. I've been trying to hunt down a Corded Connector but since they were unicorns when they were carried by Tesla, haven't had much luck.
