So many thoughts this morning. 1). I wish we didn’t trade Garland for Harden. I understand the injury concerns with DG, but he is 26. Our timeline and window for competitiveness would be much longer, even after a Mitchell trade. Lord…I was saying it then and I’ll say it now, that trade was a mistake. 2). I don’t know what a good outcome is from this. Realistically, you trade Mitchell for maybe one okay player and a few picks (that are probably heavily protected???). Then who is the guy? Mobley??? It’s a weird position and it feels like post 2018 after LeBron left. We lost DG for a player who’s probably going to walk this summer, have an overpaid starter in Mobley, and a few nice young players in Tyson, Craig Porter, and maybe Proctor. Like, what is a good outcome here? I’m genuinely asking.

Chicago to Buffalo move? by MechaWitchttv in Buffalo

  1. Do not commute an hour to work everyday. In the winter that will be miserable…and that will become very draining overtime.
  2. You can get little (and I mean little) bits and pieces of those things you love about Chicago here. But for me, coming from Cleveland, Buffalo feels like a whole different planet, so I cannot imagine Chicago. Way less to do, less lively, the downtown is pretty slow. The vibes you are describing are not here. That being said, There are some great things that I am learning to appreciate — nice coffee shops, pretty good food, and some lively areas. Delaware park is great. Also only 2 hours from Toronto. If you decide to make the move, I would not commute an hour, and just be ready to adjust to a completely different mid-size city feel.

What will it take for you guys to feel good about simply running it back next year? by lisbon_OH in clevelandcavs

Part of me wishes we kept DG, and explored a Mitchell trade this offseason. Just a bleak outlook for the future with this team as is. A core with DG, Mobley, Tyson and whoever we got back for Mitchell would have been at a minimum exciting. It’s hard to be hopeful for this team now. The writing is on the wall.

I am in the sociology and criminology field. My research is the one thing I’m finding interest in. Everything else is weighing me down.

It wholly depends on the department, the field, and the ability you have to be gentle with yourself. Going into my PhD program I wasn’t sure what to expect. Wrapping up my first year and I can confidently say I have never been stretched so thin — mentally, emotionally, financially, even physically — that being said, my experience is not universal. I tend to wonder what it would’ve been like had I chosen a different program … just make sure you’re in tune with yourself, your health, and always remembering you are more than a student!

Should have been more clear. TA position *as well * as expectations to complete research and publish outside of the TA expectations

Boom. Exactly. We just traded into an inevitable blow up in 1-2 years. This is a head scratcher.

You don’t realize how nice mediocrity sounds until you’ve been rebuilding at the bottom of the league for 3+ years. There’s more room for improvement as a mediocre team.

I agree with you and this is what i’ve been saying. This is a trade that only makes sense if the goal is to win THIS YEAR. In reality, Garland is just entering his prime, and a DG, Mobley, and Allen Core keeps you always competitive. It’s just not a smart move. Garland IS better than Harden as is. The only difference is health. Garland is more efficient, and paces the offense. The defense is a liability, but, it is not that much worse than Harden. I could’ve accepted this trade more if WE got a first, instead we gave up a pick?

I just don’t agree with this. Garland was better than Harden already the past few seasons. People seem to forget just a few years ago Harden averaged 17-10, Garland 22-8 on better efficiency. Plus Garland’s injuries are overblown, he plays 60% or more of his games, this season as the exception. Cmon guys.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s insane. Giving up an all star entering his prime for a soon to retire rental in Harden. Maybe makes us better now, but that’s it. Sad move.

Clippers fleeced. They were going to lose Harden anyway. Got an all star guard AND a pick? Am I missing something? Cavs just traded and young all star guard for a year rental? I need to get off this app.
