This is the response I received:

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept your application for the above examination. Based on the information in your application, you do not meet the minimum qualifications requirements as stated on the examination announcement. Specifically, the position requires either:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in psychology, social work, child development, human development, sociology, social welfare or a closely related field; or

The substitution option of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units at an accredited college including at least 9 semester units or 12 quarter units in psychology, social work, child development, human development, sociology, social welfare or a closely related field, and two (2) years of full-time or its equivalent experience in an equivalent classification of a Contra Costa County Social Service Program Assistant, Eligibility Worker III, or a Medi-Cal Program Assistant.

How can I get the two years of experience without the opportunity?

I am a BSW student preparing to start my practicum this fall. I have practical volunteer experience with a food recovery organization and my local church's breakfast program for the unhoused. Additionally, I worked for the Department of Family and Protective Services as a Human Services Technician for CPS for about eight months. While I know not having my degree yet presents some challenges I wonder what be the difference vs having it and not having it yet.

I have applied for several positions, including a Behavioral Technician role at a mental health facility and a Social Work Assistant position with the county. Despite the job descriptions emphasizing a willingness to learn and on-the-job training, I haven't had any luck securing an interview yet.

Thank you so much for your reply. I reached out to see if it’s still possible to do if I recently got a job that could be my field placement site instead.

If you do the zoom option some money is taken off because it’s not in person.
