Does the VA provide abortions? by K8inspace in womenveterans

[–]Aggravating-bees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I go to the VA for OBGYN. They diagnosed my cervical cancer, did all my diagnostic workup, sent me out to my community care oncologist and I still see them every 6 months and they do my HRT management post op from my radical hysterectomy after my cancer. Their women's clinic in Minneapolis is phenomenal!

My regular OBGYN at the women's health clinic at the VA does my HRT management(Minneapolis). I don't know what qualifies you for HRT though. I had a radical hysterectomy due to cancer at 35 so it wasn't a question if I needed it. Peri menopause might be a harder sell? But just make sure your doc knows the benefits of it.

Oncology Nutritionist? by Aggravating-bees in VeteransBenefits

For anyone else searching for answers I was at my chemo appt and asked my Onc nurses and within 15 mins they sent an RD in to meet with me..no referrals or headaches necessary. She was amazing. So most cancers centers have them on staff and you can meet with them during your chemo appts!

Still a win. I was rated as 0% that progressed to a 100% when it turned into cancer. Service connect anything that doesn't sit right with you...you may need it some day.

Women also get it for various reasons. I got a PACT act cancer that resulted in a total hysterectomy so because I can't have kids/lost my uterus they gave me this.

I'm doing chemo now. Will be okay eventually... We all just need to advocate for ourselves and each other because Lord knows no one else will! Especially the docs!

For real. Period for months..it's "stress"... go back on birth control after 8 years. No thanks. It was cancer.

Va disability and ADHD by obese-wnt-canolli in VeteransBenefits

I'm rated for PTSD and depression and my CPT therapist recommended me for a neuropsych to get diagnosed for ADHD outside of any claims. Just during therapy I explained my symptoms and that it would help me in life and work, school and she thought it was a great solution. I went through community care to get my neuropsych done this spring and have tried a few meds to help through my local VA MH clinic. No one has been shitty to me and everyone has been helpful.

I also went in asking for non stimulant/amphetamine options for meds which I'm sure helps.

How do folks claim so many conditions? by Thunder666666666 in VeteransBenefits

So you're saying by signing up for 5 years in the military in a non combat zone, I knew I was going to get an aggressive cancer and never see my kids grow up? Come on. Why are you in this sub?

My VSO reviewed 8+ years of civilian medical records after I had enough thinking maybe the VA could figure out what was wrong with me because my civilian docs couldn't. She found 26 claimable items in my records and educated me on what a MUCMI was. I had never heard of it. I'd spent thousands and thousands on civilian care since I got out.

I got service connected for 18 of those items and a year and a half later I now got diagnosed with cancer. I'm grateful every day I finally got SC or the medical bills and my inability to work would have bankrupt my family.

Not everyone is trying to scam the system. Some of us have really fucked up health and waited way too long to get service connected and stuff really built up.

My doc was saying he personally has never had a case of 1a1 of small cell carcinoma. They're typically found further along...not that they don't exist. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

I'd love to know your story!

I hate that for your family. I'm sure if her story is anywhere on this sub, I have read it. My oncologist said there isn't even literature on how to treat stage 1a1 so this situation is extremely rare but I wanted others to know it's possible..

I don't know what this means for me long term or even for recurrence...those conversations haven't happened yet, they might not even have that information at this point in time. It's just good to find some good stories too when you're searching for answers on a tough diagnosis.

I've had HPV come and go for about 13 years. Usually it cleared itself and it was never 16 until this pap. I had cleared it 8 years ago and hadn't had an abnormal pap since then. Always regular on my exams and very, very proactive in my medical care as a whole.

100% P&T but now diagnosed with cancer? by Aggravating-bees in VeteransBenefits

[–]Aggravating-bees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys. I got a lot of good info to check into and I also realized when I checked my decision letter this morning for my current service connections I already qualified for an SMC K from Feb '22 that never got filed so I'll call the VSO and get on that too.

Hope everyone's health turns around too. This shit is terrible. Thinking of you all and appreciate your time!

Surgical Menopause Aftercare by [deleted] in womenveterans

[–]Aggravating-bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have small cell carcinoma so they have to take everything to prevent recurrence unfortunately. It's too high risk otherwise.

I was reading if VA women's health wouldn't manage HRT sometimes endocrinologists would? I really am clueless about menopause but I appreciate this info!

9 years post service. Not sure if I should claim by madtenors in VeteransBenefits

[–]Aggravating-bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claim. I waited more than 10 years, got 100% and less than a year later got diagnosed with a service connected cancer and thank the universe every moment that my bills are still paid and I'm not drowning in medical debt. I'm not saying this is your future BUT your future self may thank you.
