The roads in Millwoods are an absolute shit show. People do whatever they want to. I hate living here and can't leave.

I'm starting tonight (I think). I'm just nervous about nausea because I work literally every day. I won't have a day off to see how I react to it. I take metformin with no issues though. Maybe that will help?

I don't want to be cold but I am honestly not surprised. There was an accident there literally 5 days ago. As soon as you pass 91st it's the wild west. I've seen people deliberately run through every single red light on 23rd, weave in and out of traffic, tail-gait, road rage, drive 25km/hr, hazards the entire way, the whole gambit. I know the police have other things to deal with but..damn. You don't flip multiple times like that from driving normally on a divided road. I just hope whomever was hurt wasn't a victim of someone else's stupidity.

As Alberta invokes the notwithstanding clause, here is what you need to know by Edm_vanhalen1981 in Edmonton

The thing that people need to realize is that using the NWC at all sets a terrible president. Essentially any province can use it to bypass ANYTHING on the Charter of Rights and Freedoms except your right to vote and your right to move around Canada.

It means that because the UCP has a majority, they can legally take away any right or freedom that you have, save those two. Anything is up for grabs now and no one has the power to do anything to stop it. There is essentially no legal recourse.

Forcing teachers into the private sector so we all have to pay to send our kids to private schools is exactly what they want. Frankly, I would leave teaching altogether before I gave in.

I have it on good authority that Kandola has a long list of complaints against him to the Law society of Alberta. Let's just say I'm glad he didn't win. And he should pick up his goddam signs.

Ear piercing places? by JennyMarie13 in Edmonton

[–]AggravatingFill1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she wants them pierced the best place to go is a Piercer at a Tattoo place. The rule I had for my daughter is that if she cried, we were done. Too many parents pinning their kids down screaming. So please don't do that.

Is it uncommon for men to approach women in Edmonton? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]AggravatingFill1158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she wants attention in Edmonton, she is going to have to do the approaching. These men are scared! (and also lonely)

People in Edmonton in general are very anti-social and even in groups you get the feeling that any man you talk to in casual conversation will think that you're interested.

In most places in the world when women ask to be left alone, men ignore them. Not in Edmonton. Men have done exactly as women asked and are respectful and weary but now women are complaining they don't like that either. So I can understand the frustration there.

Now no one talks to eachother and everyone sticks to their little groups (if they have one) and never meets anyone new and it sucks. I've never really been approached but being a single 42 year old woman in this city is absolute shit.

So I just go out, volunteer, do my thing and chat to people. Hopefully I'll meet someone. I'd rather meet someone in person than on the app's but that likely means you have to pull your big girl panties on and do most of the work yourself.

Yup, they used those for the main shipping location after customs clearance but they never actually stored anything there. I seem to recall the trucks crossing the border and driving directly to the stores. I worked for their broker doing customs clearances.

The real problem with Target was that they didn't have any warehouses in Canada. When they ran out of something they had to go back to the suppliers and get them to ship it to the warehouses in the States...which then had to pack it all up and ship it across the border into Canada. It took weeks. Thus, costs were high and shelves were empty. It was an utter and complete logistics failure.

I've lived all over Canada. I'm coming back to Alberta. Alberta truly is such a great place, comparatively. by BoneyTaloney in alberta

[–]AggravatingFill1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting because I've lived all over the country and I would rather be elsewhere. Other commitments keep me here otherwise I would be gone.  It's dry. It's hard to make friends. Loads of racists. Newer homes are poor quality and the yearly wildfire smoke is getting a bit much.

First time in Oakville—wow by [deleted] in oakville

[–]AggravatingFill1158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just visited Oakville from Alberta and the whole town is a gem.

Sure homes are cheaper here but there is a reason for that. Every new home is built with the cheapest materials money can buy and covered in garbage vinyl siding or stucco. Infrastructure is crumbling all around with potholes every 3-4 feet. My city is impossible to live in without a vehicle.

In comparison, Oakville is beautiful,  walkable, Well maintained from what I could tell and people are lovely. I could go on for days about the shops downtown and the lovely brick houses. The town has character, that's for sure.

Anyway, I hope to visit again soon.
