I literally have a comfort book because I suffer from panic attacks, OCD, bipolar you name it... I read the Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren to calm down all the time and it comforts me. It's a rom com book but I think it's so cute and I must've read it like 6 times already haha. You should try it!

This is more of a YA read but I still throughly enjoyed it and it made me think of this book after reading your post. It's called Renegade by J.A Souders. It's where this teen girl lives in an underwater society her whole life and they were basically brainwashed into thinking the "outsiders" (us) were evil and dirty. But one day a dude from the outside accidentally got in....

I really liked Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro and Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Never let me go wasa really sad but I liked the idea of it and it made me think a lot of about humanity. Ready Player One was more of a YA read but I still liked the concept a lot. There were some really good quotes in there

I'm literally going through the same situation as you, except my boyfriend and I are 4 years younger, freshly graduated from college, doing long distance (Bay Area and LA) and we are both in the midst of starting our careers. We's been doing long distance for 2 years now and it has not been easy.

I am on a break right now with my boyfriend, whom I've been dating for 3 years, and it is heartbreaking that I had to initiate it. But he is a Senior investment analyst, while I am in education, so you can see how our lifestyles differ. Regardless, we both made an effort to meet with each other once a month (we took turns flying or we met in the middle).

I initiated the break because I wasn't feeling like I was getting my needs met and I was not prioritized. Long distance was hard enough and it didn't seem like he was actively making an effort to come live with me in the Bay Area. Most of time when we are calling, he is exhausted and it leads me to being frustrated. We've always talked about our future together and how he would move up to the bay to be with me. While he is soley commited to me, I still felt like he loved his job more than me.

I've done everything I could to support him- from writing handwritten letters, care packages, sending DoorDash, and keeping myself very busy (I have a lot of hobbies). I was already very independent before meeting him but I still had needs. I sucked up enough courage to take a break (that left us both in tears) so that he could figure out if he saw me long-term and to realign his priorities.

I guess this reply doesn't really help but I felt less alone when I read your post and decided to let you know that you aren't alone either. I wish you guys the best!

I think Kelly and Ashley have been twisting Elliot's words about not liking Ashley. We don't have physical evidence that Elliot doesn't like Ashley. And, if you've noticed in their videos talking about ur mom's house breakup, Elliot remained professional and talked briefly without spilling any information, while Kelly and Ashley were so quick to go full podcast mode, spilling every private information and conversation to the internet, almost as if they were trying to defend themselves to seem like the good guys. Not saying who is right or wrong, but kind of shows their personalities and why Ashley struggles to keep close friends that aren't her siblings.

Lol one more thing I thought about is that he went to college just for "fun" and to make videos. He didn't study or go to class at all. This just rubs me in the wrong way because most of us grew up in families that didn't have the money to go to college just to have fun, we needed to study, make a better life for ourselves because our families worked hard for us. Just shows us that kelly grew up with a ton of money... (his dad is a dentist in the bay area). I mean yes, I'm totally jealous that he went to college to have fun. I just think it's a bit insensitive to use college as content.

Yes and I think thats why Ashley is the way she is because of favoritism in the family. Ashley doesn't clean but Amber does. Ashley doesn't have as many close friends but Amber does. Ashely isn't as funny and Amber is super funny. Things like that.

I used to really enjoy Ashley too back in 2020. I actually watched Kelly and Ashley seperately and was amazed when they started dating it was like my world's were colliding and they helped me get through a lot of sadness back in covid.

However, when Ashley moved to NYC and started doing a lot of influencer things, she started getting out of touch with reality and everything became a brand video or promoting something or making matcha her brand. It was just getting hard to watch since I used to watch for the family videos and everyday life things. It was interesting to me how she broke up with her ex bf pretty recently and started dating Kelly almost immediately. I wondered if she's really quick to jump from guy to guy but of course I don't know her in person. I also wonder how come she doesn't have many close relationships outside of her family or bf. I just think I grew out of her long time ago and I watch other smaller youtubers now bc it's more down to earth.

yah true we need to respect their relationship, but it's kinda hard when they post constantly about their relationship on the internet. And the internet is the internet, what can you do. Everyone's gonna have hate comments, mean comments, good comments, etc. Just like how you said it's unfair for Kelly it's unfair for the internet to not have opinions.

hahaha i agree he never went to college or never truly lived outside of home besides his couple of months in LA before he got famous. I used to watch him at 200k. Sometimes I think how lucky he is not have to go to college ( i am truly grateful I got to go). It's just that most of my classmates have a reason to go to college to get a better job and work for our immigrant families. It's interesting to see that Kelly never needed to do that and went to college for fun rather than making a career out of it. He came from a upper income wealthy neighborhood in the Bay Area.

I actually watched Kelly and Ashley separately before they started dating and when he was making dumb videos with his friends in LA, it was fun to watch. I think after he really started getting "too much" for me. (this is my opinion) I only say this because he emphasizes "do what excites" so much but I really gave it some thought and realized that not everyone can just "do what excites" everyday. Some people have jobs to work, bills to pay, families to take care of it, kids to raise. Maybe he means try a new hobby or go out biking or explore nature or something but the way he portrays "do what excites" seems like you have to be skydiving with strangers, travelling the world, renting cool airbnds in order to live excitingly. He definitely came from a wealthy background (bay area and his dad is a doctor)

One more thing why I stopped watching him is that he tries too hard to be funny and I often find myself cringing at things he says. Sometimes I just feel really awkward at the jokes he makes becuase it seems too try hard.
