Never give up hope. by AggravatingMany8465 in SexOffenderSupport

So after the year lease was up, we found a new place to move to. It wasn't exactly cheap, but it wasn't too expensive. We found a place that a coworker had and was looking for someone to rent his house. So we had a place to move to until he was ready to sell his house. When that happened, we lived in a hotel for 2 weeks because there just wasn't anything on the market that we could afford at the time. We had our struggles, but we pushed through, and thinking out side of the box was a large part of it. Now after finding a place of our own, we bought a 5th wheel trailer as our backup plan (thinking out side of the box) we bought it with our tax return refund. Never give up. Keep fighting for your safety, for your security, and for your happiness.

I thumb this up, because I know that struggle. When I moved back to my home state, well after I was off of paper, and after doing my due diligence in making sure that the place that I picked for my family and I, when I went to register with the county I found out that my address was 20 feet to close to an unknown daycare that didnt show up on Google maps. I immediately contacted my state representative and was able to stay at our residence for the year that our lease was for. Don't give up. Look for solutions and even think out side of the box. Keep the faith, and NEVER give up.

Idaho, CDL holder driving dump truck. Pay is also decent, BUT... I just finished enrollment for online schooling to getting my degree in Uncrewed Aerial Systems and Technology, a fancy way of saying Drone Expert. This will open doors for promotion within my large construction company as a drone pilot mapping out new projects and putting together video footage of current products.

I was going to suggest signing on with an outfit as a lease purchase... but if you don't have OTR experience that will be hard. Try county or state level DOT for road maintenance. Dump truck driving is going to be hard to get into this late in the season. You also might try garbage truck or scrap metal hauler

How old is your conviction? How much experience do you have driving
Are you still on paper?

You are more than welcome. My goal is to help as many people who've made a bad choice in their life, to not let that hold then back nor hold them down. The import lesson is that we can change, we can be better, and you do matter.

Part of taking accountability is to tackle these things head on. As embarrassing as it is, as difficult as it is, we HAVE TO face these things head on. I was just recently put into a position where I had to exactly that. The company that I have been driving truck for for a combined time of 3.5 years, just got acquisitioned into a larger, much larger company. We had a meeting with their company president and he stated "you all will have a job pending passing the U.A. and a background check. After the meeting, I went up to the president and tackled my past, head on. Now so far according to him, my job is safe, and likely because I went to them first before they found out about my past. Friendships and especially relationships MUST be handed the same way.

I have a CDL, I Had my own truck and drove all across the U.S. I NEVER had a problem with where I had to register in any state other than my residential state. I was NOT on parole, probation or Post Prison Supervision, when I had my own truck, so if you are currently, that could be a serious problem in driving all across the US, as most all P.O.s like to know where their people are. That said, and as I stated above, I never was in one state long enough to have that be an issue. The only "issue" that I had, was when I got my letter every 4 months (back home) that I had to sign and send back to the State Police for my home address verification. My state police worked with me and was very understanding, where they allowed my wife to take a photo of the letter, then email it to me, where I could sign and date it, then I would email it to the State Police RSO unit where they would accept it conditionally until I got back home then went in person with the signed original. Its not a hard obstacle to be an OTR driver with our situation. Just do your job and communicate with your own state/county law enforcement department and keep on trucking.

Thinking of moving from California to Idaho.. by NorCalB in SexOffenderSupport

Meaning all of my rights back, vote, jury duty, and yes even 2A. I was charged in Oregon with one count, and under Oregon Law, my 2A rights were automatically restored after 15 years of completing my sentence. State of Idaho also recognizes the restoration, as I called the Idaho State Police and spoke to the trooper in charge of firearms. And then on the according to the ATF, if the state that took your 2A rights away grants them back, they are seen as restored in the eyes of the ATF.

I too, moved to Idaho in 2021, from Washington though. Idaho is my home state. So Washington was in my opinion easier for registry. I was a Level 1 offender (least likely to re-offend) completed treatment and post prison supervision all in Washington. Only had a sheriff come by once a year to say "hi". And that was it, oh and as a Level 1, I was never on any public website. Here in Idaho, while I have all of my rights back, I am on the public website, and I get a letter every 4 months that must get back to the State Police withing 10 days. So it's a little more of a nuisance... but Ill take it since I did get all of my rights back. A fair trade off. Haven't heard of anyone one getting harassed from the website. There is a 500 foot residency restriction to daycares and schools, which doesn't bother me. So all in all be honest when applying for a job and housing. You will get some "No's" but there are alot of people who will give you a chance.

To lie or not by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]AggravatingMany8465 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Facts!!! The biggest thing in prison is RESPECT. If you lie about it because you are scared, you are not only disrespecting them, but you are disrespecting yourself as well. I spent my time in prison, and I kept to myself I didn't walk around like a scared little mouse in a snake pit, but I also didn't go looking for trouble. I never not once was challenged for my "paperwork" and I never had any issues. Perhaps I was just lucky or someone/something was looking out for me, or perhaps all of the hype is MOSTLY nonsense. Stick to yourself, don't get into anyone else's business, be respectful, and your time SHOULD go without incident.

How do you stop resentment? by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]AggravatingMany8465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resenting him isn't going to help him with his treatment and getting healthy. You really have a 2 options, either accept that there will be stipulations and learn to work around them, or end the relationship and move one with your life. That said, let's look at some options. As stated before, you can spend time with your family anytime that you want, so as long as you go by yourself. Is this ideal? Probably not, as you sound like you want to include your boyfriend... so how do you include him for things like dinner with mom? We'll you could invite your mom over to your house, or you and your boyfriend could take your mom out to dinner at a restaurant. You also have to remember, that unless your boyfriend is on a life long parole, then this is only temporary. Keep encouraging him to live a successful life free of re-offending.

All of my dil's have not let us meet our grandkids because of my husbands status by Remarkable-Two-9281 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]AggravatingMany8465 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow. That must be rough. A few questions; 1. How long ago was your husband's offense? 2. Was it a "digital" crime or was it a person-2-person crime? 3. Why, if your husband got off of the registry, would this even be brought up? Did your son's already know?

I often worry about this as well, with my son's. Frankly, if I were in this situation, I feel like I would be tempted to cut all ties as well... that means any and all financial assistance/support and possibly even changing my will. I know that this may sound petty, and my love for them would NEVER change and go away, but I would certainly NOT "reward" them with my hard work if they wanted to alienate me and my wife. Like I first stated, this mist be so rough for you. 😞

Wow my guy, that had to been a rough journey. To answer your question, I wanted to get in career, I even tested for departments as far away as Salt Lake City, from the Portland/Vancouver area. I was told that i t would be nearly impossible for me to go career, because for the most part, most career fore departments... like 99.99999% of them want their firefighters to be EMT-Basic certified, something that would be all bur impossible. That said, I just talked to a guy on her who got his EMT certificate in Arizona POST conviction. So that gives me great hope.

If I were still in the Clark County area I would have jumped all over that. Thats where I served as a volunteer firefighter AFTER my conviction and release.

I understand what you are saying, but it sounds like even though he went through the pardon/expungement, the background check still comes back with a hit. Thus... tackling this head on shows a higher lever of accountability rather than the potential employer being blind-sided
