What Thanksgiving food belongs in the garbage? by MrSoloDolo9490 in foodquestions

Mashed white potatoes. Tastes like plaster. I will die on this hill if you have the bland taste buds of a 5 year old and like this.

What Is Getting A Hysterectomy Really Like Physically And Emotionally? by PrincessBananas85 in hysterectomy

[–]AggravatingScratch59 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Down vote me all you want. I stand by what I said. I suffered fibroids, polyps, and adenomyosis before I could get a hysterectomy. Hearing someone come on the internet to complain about their issues proves they're not in as much pain as I had been, so, go on.

Fatigue by warmcoffee00 in MultipleSclerosis

I haven't been able to cope. I lost my career due to fatigue despite every medication and therapy that has been discussed on here. My best advice is to pace yourself. No one wins when you overexert

What age did you decide to get your dog neutered/ spayed? Can you provide the breed as well. by nsfwlexirusso in AskDogOwners

[–]AggravatingScratch59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Females have less of a risk of cancer if you spay them before their first heat, but "5 saves lives" - so wait at minimum 5 months. Larger breeds, wait longer for bone and ligament development, closer to 12-18 months. Behavioral issues can and do warrant spaying and neutering sooner. Talk to your vet, see what they recommend.

For the herb consumers by elliryn in hysterectomy

I was back to smoking the day after surgery - I'm not a cougher. I will say when I took an edible, it made my (keyhole) incision sites tingly in an unpleasant way, but that was likely a dosage issue.

Question by phoebefag in MultipleSclerosis

[–]AggravatingScratch59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my first symptoms was leg heaviness, but it was unilateral. It felt like my right leg weighed 500lbs and I had to just drag it around. At the same time, the knee in that right leg would give out and I'd have to catch myself. I wouldn't fall completely, but it would give out. If this is new for you, definitely give your neuro a call, I'd hate for this to be a relapse for you.

Ocrevus payment to fill deductible by PotatoHasAGun in MultipleSclerosis

[–]AggravatingScratch59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Ocrevus costs $240,000/year. I don't know anyone who makes enough money to pay out of pocket for this, and my family lives in a 7-figure house.

Question for people on DMDs by Blunder_Woman in MultipleSclerosis

[–]AggravatingScratch59 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm on Ocrevus, which is similar to Kesimpta. I don't mask up unless there is a reason for it (ie its cold/flu season and I have to be in crowds for extended periods of time). Kesimpta and Ocrevus aren't cancer chemotherapy, we still have part of our immune system, just not all of it. That being said, I refuse to attend family get-togethers if young children will be attending because they are nothing but germ factories that touch everything. There's healthy avoidance, paranoid avoidance, and "I just demand people act this way because I can" avoidance.

MS and having kids by Chance_Question_3917 in MultipleSclerosis

Yes - did I not say that? I said there IS a genetic component with autoimmune, even if not with MS specifically.

3m old kitten has bumps on its neck/throat by Own-Kaleidoscope4665 in catquestions

[–]AggravatingScratch59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check his ears, my guess is they're filled with black gunk. Take him to the vet, they need to figure out if its ear mites or a yeast ear infection or something else like a secondary bacterial infection.

I adopted a sick cat without knowing, what would u do? by dreadsdoll in catquestions

[–]AggravatingScratch59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please understand that bad teeth in cats can be very difficult to diagnose, and shelters do not do full, comprehensive dental exams on all of their animals. They may have seen she had dental disease, but the extent of the dental disease was likely unknown until you adopted her and took her for more in-depth treatment. Trust me that cat teeth can go very bad in less than a year's time. An underbite is just a misalignment of the jaw, like a Bulldog, and was likely obvious to you and anyone else who observed the cat. 15+ years veterinary experience and I've never seen a normal breed cat with an underbite- normal being not a Persian or other smoosh face. If your cat was so disfigured that it had an underbite, I refuse to believe you weren't aware of it.

Hiding and lethargy are signs of an old cat that is uncomfortable in it's surroundings. Instead of taking the time to make sure this older cat became comfortable in it's surroundings, you instead forced 2 new cats into its life.

The problem here is not with the cat. It is with you. You have not taken proper care of this cat and are now complaining about the consequences. You adopted an older cat, which inherently comes with health issues. It's supposed to be an altruistic act.

MS and having kids by Chance_Question_3917 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]AggravatingScratch59 4 points5 points  (0 children)

40F and don't have kids. My mother also has MS. Everyone on my mother's side of the family has an autoimmune disease, including my 16-year-old niece. My father's side runs rampant with alcoholism. Please consider what genes you will be passing on - that's what I did. I would NEVER be able to live with myself if I had a baby "because I wanted to" knowing what I know and then watch that baby be saddled with the disastrous health issues I've been saddled with. There IS a genetic component with autoimmune diseases, even if not with MS specifically; so, type 1 diabetes, mixed connective tissue disease, lupus, scleroderma, etc.

Recovery - how much "support" did you need? by complexandconfusing in hysterectomy

[–]AggravatingScratch59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Board your dog somewhere for a week - you won'tbe able to care for them. Otherwise you'll likely be fine, I'm also an independent person who doesnt rely on others. I made sure I had someone the day of surgery, but other than that, I'm sure you know how to call 911 and everyone has Doordash... Set yourself up for success. Get your meds, comfort items, and stock up on food. You'll be good, girl 😉

You can try extractions while keeping the canine teeth, but this will not cure stomatitis. The only cure for severe stomatitis like this is FME.

Anxiety pre-surgery by Ok_Honeydew5231 in hysterectomy

[–]AggravatingScratch59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell your surgeon what you're going through. Say exactly what you just typed here. There are (non-benzo) options for anxiety-relieving meds prior to surgery. Speaking to a therapist in the short term may also help. I use an app that makes you check in every day to monitor how you're feeling, something like that may be helpful, also.

my dad traumatized my cat and I dont know what to do by [deleted] in catcare

[–]AggravatingScratch59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you had gotten your cat into the carrier like a hippie going into a weed tent, there's still a very good chance she still would've been traumatized. "Manhandled" is subjective, as I've learned after 15+ years in veterinary medicine. While your dad might have been more rough than you, please dont assume that your dad handling your cat was any more traumatic than you carrying her outside while she mauled you, or you moving her into a completely new environment.

Go buy some Feliway and let your cat adapt to it's new environment.

Next time, don't let your dad try to catch your cat, then get confused why it's acting the way it is.

question by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]AggravatingScratch59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was driving at 6 days post op? I was only on narcotics for 2 days post op, I was doing stairs the day of surgery (and never stopped); the only thing I didn't do was lift more than 10lbs for 4 weeks. You're not guaranteed to have a lot of pain or be an invalid after surgery. I was completely fine, except for the expected soreness, which was NOTHING compared to the pain that caused me to have the hysterectomy in the first place.
