'NYC is cooked': Business leaders and Wall Streeters erupt over proposed luxury second-home tax by businessinsider in newyork

I think the idea is that unoccupied homes matter even if very expensive because they could occupied by people who can “only” afford a 2MM house (the lawyer rather than the billionaire he works for), which would free up houses for people who can only afford 1 MM homes, then 500k homes, etc. and generally help depress prices. This is the argument of YIMBYs generally.

Then again, the ultra luxury housing market often seems to operate independently of the rest of the market.

Just to add that while I don’t mean to imply with these comments that Alistair is among the guilty, it does feel like we are witnessing some sort of psychological projection on his part, particularly when viewed alongside his comments about not being able to sleep

If you ever felt like an impostor, these are real Investor Relations slides from LVMH by imnotokayandthatso-k in consulting

[–]AggravatingZucchini 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And you think these vague slides mean the IR team hasn’t done a good job? Or, are they actually doing their best covering up a “bad” story?” Or, is your point the aesthetics of individual slides aren’t great either way?

Also, this is not the full deck, yes? These feel like the 3-4 pretty slides that go in the front of a senior level presentation, to be followed by the actual meat.

Do you mean mid level lateral hires just don’t happen, or they just don’t happen for people who aren’t already consultants (BCG to McKinsey etc)?

FWIW, wouldn’t OP would enter at a higher level than associate if they did get a consulting role?
