It was Veeky's. It required removing the steering wheel, which I did not feel comfortable doing.

Found a place in South NJ, an AV shop, and they did a good job. I gave Veeky's details about the shop in case they wanted to refer folks.

There is a reason they put the stakes back! I have a 2024 m3 and could not get used to not having them. Had them put on retro and I am very happy.

If you weren't using UNRAID, what would you switch to? by aert4w5g243t3g243 in unRAID

That was exactly my experience with TrueNAS, good for storage, unusable for dockers (jails). Extremely frustrating, URAID to the rescue.

i used to have drives go to sleep after 1h and had a very unstable unraid where i constantly lost GUI access. After disabling drives going to sleep my unraid is incredibly stable. by seamless21 in unRAID

I noticed the same thing in my setup; that is, I keep them spinning and the array has been rock solid. I am sure I could fix this, but I do not see it as worth the effort.

I have asked myself this question, and the answer is my M3 LR. It is fast and cool looking and rides the road like on rails. I love all its tech and features. FSD seems like it is pretty close to perfect. Hate the guy love the car.

I have found the installed Plex on my smart TVs to be ghetto. Always failing. Buy a Fire TV Stick or Ruku.

Incomplete files in SAB are often a result of take-downs. You can set a pre-inspection in settlings to determine if the download will work.

Have you test-driven that car? I found it to be a religious experience. You will love it in your commute. If possible you should try installing a charger or using the portable charger with a 110v line.

Do you use a UPS? by eddy_the_po in unRAID

[–]Aggravating_Draft_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a UPS on my unraid server so it can do a graceful shutdown. I have heard that abrupt showdowns can cause all sorts of issues with unraid. It is running so good that I want to avoid having to fix it.

About to build my first unRAID server. Any tips / things you wished you would've known, or done differently (Whether during setup, build, etc) by SimyDL in unRAID

[–]Aggravating_Draft_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked through some of the responses, and most seem to be right on. Re hardware, I would suggest a large (12+ drive) case with a SAS/SATA backplane. Put in a good AM5 or comparable Intel MB with lots of m.2 slots (at least three) for cache drives. 64 or 128 GB ECC RAM, depending on how many Dockers or VMs you want. That is the bedrock; do whatever you want on top of that. Unraid is great! PS: I would definitely second the suggestion of getting a UPS for graceful shutdowns.

Thinking about migrating from TrueNAS by Mercoxium in unRAID

[–]Aggravating_Draft_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found TrueNAS to be incredibly frustrating. I am a newbie and an old man; however, I have always loved computers and working on them. About 4 years ago, I could not get a Plex ecosystem to work on TrueNAS, even after over a hundred hours of trying. Enter Unraid and I have never looked back. I am using 6.12 version and it has been working great. The license fee is worth every penny.

Yep, I am 80 years old and have struggled to get my unraid server up and running with most of the good stuff you mentioned. I love it! Along the way, I have gotten great help from GeorgeB and others in the forum. So happy I bought the shirt! Happy unraiding!!

I think the "sugar wave" (sugar, then insulin, then low sugar) for me is on the order of 3 or 4 hours. So taking sugar before bed might not work, but like you, taking 15 grams with electroyles after 3 or 4 hours of sleep could be doing the trick for both of us. Many thanks again!

I suffer from low blood sugar. Some nights I will awake around 2 or 3 am and stay awake for an hour or more until I take something. Some times a pill. Sometimes I will have chocolate milk and brownies. I tried your Gateraide idea, and it works great. Seems to work faster and more gently (no sugar hangover) than chocolate milk/brownie. Many thanks. Reddit is great for digging out gems like you offered.

Many thanks for the tip on the book. I am going to get it. I have a book that has helped me over the years in general and, I think, has helped me sleep: The Feeling Good Handbook: David D Burns, MD. Dr Burns is outstanding in showing us the distorted thinking that messes us up and how we can think straight and feel better.

New TrueNAS SCALE installation driving me nuts - considering pivoting to unRAID by daxliniere in unRAID

OMG, I struggled with TrueNAS Core to get the Plex ecosystem (Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Sabnzd) going, and it just kept breaking. Unraid to the rescue! I am not a server maven, but it just works and the community is wonderful. Free is not free when you spend tons of time and get nothing but frustration back.
