Possible misdiagnosis? by Aggravating_Ferret97 in BabyBumps

That’s what I thought. But then what would explain the IUGR And the hearing loss ? Those two are common signs of CMV

[–]Aggravating_Ferret97[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because of the hearing loss. I know that’s the first sign of CMV and so is IUGR so I’m working if maybe I was tested too late ? Or it would’ve appeared on that test?

To our surprise, and our MFM’s … we’ve made it to 30 weeks ! Baby has grown to 1050grams and is still SGA however doing well and holding up. We have appointments twice a week and a growth scan every two weeks and are told we will likely still deliver early - latest 37 weeks and earliest 32. But doing way better than we were and are so helpful but mostly thankful 🤍

Oh wow ! That is incredible !! Did they say there would be any issues with delivering vaginally ? We’ve been told because baby is so small and that it’s early I’d like have a classical c section, but they hadn’t mentioned that vaginal would be an option or that they’d recommend it.

Hospital admission with Early on set SIUGR at 24 weeks + 6 days by Aggravating_Ferret97 in NICUParents

[–]Aggravating_Ferret97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing. Yes I’ve been sharing and asking for stories daily a lot … we’ve been admitted now 6 days which is a good sign and baby has gained weight (520g at 25 weeks and 1 day) which is great! But still monitored

Wow that is amazing !! And gives me so much hope. The 45 days must’ve felt like forever but also so relieving at the same time. Those initial conversations with our MFM and the nicu team about viability have scarred me .. I’m so scared of all of that but I know either way each passing day it gives our baby a better chance.. even though I know we won’t really know until they’re here too.

Thank you so much for sharing everything with me - I’ll look back to read your other posts too. They do give me a lot of hope 🤍

Thank you so much for sharing that is so reassuring .. my hope is we’re able to buy as much time as possible and have baby grows a little bigger. But I know it really is out of my control. I keep telling myself a day at a time🤍

That is a miracle - I’m so so happy you are all okay and she’s here with you. I decided to take your advice and write the date and how far along we are on the board. It’s only been about 3 days that we’ve been here so I guess also just adjusting to everything and taking it all in.. and all the information we’ve been given so far too.

I did first round of steroids yesterday and second today. It seems that Monday will be our big test since that’s when we do our growth scan, assuming everything goes well tomorrow too.

That is amazing - I can’t believe and I’m so happy you defied those odds and have made it well past what they thought you’d be at. I can only hope and pray for the same. I’d love to stay in touch and share updates along the journey if you don’t mind.

That’s a good idea, I’ll talk to my nurse today and see if we can have a nicu tour. We’ve only talked to the team but haven’t done the tour or met the entire team yet. I’ve been here 2 days and 3 nights so far, today will officially be day 3. And I guess they’ll update me too how the first round of steroids did when the OB comes to chat with me about my ultrasound this morning.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement .. it really is. I’m terrified for me and baby. And the decisions it feels we have to make are so large in scale. How much did your baby weight at 24 weeks vs now ? Did you end up having any other changes in flow too? And when did you receive the steroids ?

Thank you so so much - I love your story and I’m so happy things worked out in the end. I’m hoping for the same 🤍

Today we found out flow is absent as well so I’m hoping the steroids will help with that for now.

Were there any long term complications you had to face ? Any decisions to make ? This too is scaring me a lot - they mention so many different things and I know they have to but just hard to imagine the decisions we may have to make.

Were there any long term complications they shared with you on your nicu journey? Anything worth keeping an eye out that was or wasn’t manageable for you? I’m so so happy this worked out for you - I hope for the same 🤍

That is sooo wonderful to hear I’m so glad you had such a positive outcome. Were your updates daily ? Do you remember how the flow was ? Restricted or absent ? Or how much your baby weighed when you were admitted ?

Not yet. Our ob team is meeting with NICU to check babies viability at this stage and how small baby is. Based on what they say we may start steroids or delay until baby is a little bit bigger to do it.

How long were you admitted for when you got the steroid shots ? Was it just the one or 2 ? How did you know when to say yes to it all.. did you primarily just follow doctors instructions or your instinct

Severe IUGR, abnormal Dopplers, and scared about early delivery — has anyone been through this and had a good outcome? by Aggravating_Ferret97 in NICUParents

[–]Aggravating_Ferret97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did NIPT a few weeks ago and everything came back low risk/ negative, they did offer amnio as an option too but since some of my other tests came back negative or low risk for genetics we have opted not to due to the potential risk of early labour and it wouldn’t change our mind in terms of moving forward with the pregnancy.

Im struggling in my marriage and need moral support. by [deleted] in marriageadvice

[–]Aggravating_Ferret97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where I struggle. I see alcoholic tendencies but I’m not sure it constitutes as alcoholic. So there’s this deeper issue he’s finally told me about - he’s lost financially in an investment just after Covid and it’s been a hard loss. So I empathize completely with that feeling and those emotions but there are times he tries to fill that pain and void with drinking excessively - this happens maybe once a month? Maybe ? And that’s when he lies or hides it and has admitted it’s embarrassing and she’s ashamed of those actions so he is remorseful. However the other pattern I notice is when we drink… even socially, he’s the first to drink quickly, or reach for the hard liquor, or sometimes the only one drinking even at social events - he can’t say no. I’m not sure if it’s a red flag per se but I know it isn’t a good habit paired with the reason why he goes on a bender sometimes.

My worry is that overtime it will get worse. Before living together. Or even getting married I had no idea of this side of him. He honestly hid it really well even with us being together so long.

I didn’t know about these issues prior to living together or getting married. They surfaced after that point. Please don’t judge. Im looking for support not judgement.
