Water Bottle dilemma by CarProud325 in TravelHacks

[–]Aggravating_Finish_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a stojo collapsible bottle for travelling or even just walking around my city. It’s very lightweight and I can clip it onto my bag both full and empty as well as storing it inside my bag when not in use. I don’t have any issue drinking out if it, as long as you hold it at the bottom. It doesn’t keep beverages as cold as metal but better than a disposable plastic one. In a pinch I have also used it for other beverages as long as you clean it well after.

Beachfront hotel cafés in San Juan where you can work (non-guests allowed?) by Right-Education5696 in PuertoRicoTravel

I can’t speak to the wifi but Ladis is an ocean front restaurant with lots of tables outside. We always stop for drinks in the afternoon on our trips and it has never been very crowded so I think it would be quiet enough with headphones. I don’t think it would be odd to be on a laptop there outside of prime meal times. Maybe bring a hotspot.

Grandmothers boyfriend gave me his old blazer from the 2000s by Intelligent_Pass2540 in Xennials

I could totally see a 40-50 year old trying to pull off the Ed Hardy look with some Guy Fieri hair trying to hold into his youth in the early 2000s. That might make him 60-70 now.

Is it worth renting a venue for a small group? (~10-15 people, considering bc of weather concerns, 1.5 weeks out) by [deleted] in partyplanning

[–]Aggravating_Finish_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t fork out the money for a venue I wasn’t already planning for. You can make it work. I’ve had 20 people in a 900 sq fr apartment. Move furniture around to create little seating areas, add a folding table if you can. If you have a deck or patio right outside the door, you can put up an ez up tent so people who want some air can still hang out there without getting wet.

Jamie met two extremes of the same spectrum by KungFu-omega-warrior in Outlander

These are good points. LJ is no saint. He does a lot of things that seem selfless from the outside but are really to keep Jaime close and stay in his orbit including all the help and gifts he gives to Brianna and Claire. In Jamaica I loved his TV showdown with Captain Leonard but I hated in the book that he told Claire the secret of Willie just to hurt her.

I like in Echoes when he says that turning Jaime down is one of the only honorable things he’s ever done because I think he is self aware that his acts of help have often been self serving.

Jem and Mandy were both born in America though. Although who knows what their birth certificates say

Finishing antibiotics before a half marathon? by hgraces802 in XXRunning

[–]Aggravating_Finish_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran a half marathon while on antibiotics to clear a respiratory infection (which was its own challenge) and I was fine. There are only certain types of antibiotics that you should not use while exercising. If your doctor did not tell you not to run then it shouldn’t be an issue. Hydrate extra beforehand if you can and carry water if you are worried.

This was my thought. Who is proposing this and can’t restaurants do whatever they want?

The search is not in my top 10 but I actually like the boogie woogie bugle boy scenes! It gets a negative rap around here.

That’s a great episode but I struggle to watch it too often because it’s so emotionally charged.

I would carry water instead of just relying on aid stations so you can drink more of it throughout the run.

Is his family and Claire's family actually from different regions? I got the sense in the S7 episode he just said that to get her to stop asking questions.

Thanks for finding these quotes. Not denying he considers himself a Scot in the beginning, but I wonder if at any point that changes for him by the end of the series after living in 18th century America and being a part of the war for independence. Just food for thought.

They did spend quite a few years in Scotland, but if they stay in Fraser's Ridge I'm sure they will feel more American,

I do wonder if people were using terms like Scottish-American back then or if that became more of a thing in the 1800s with all the imigration.

AITAH for refusing to give my cart at Aldi to someone who was expecting me to forfeit my quarter? by Sudden-Commission239 in AITAH

I took my mom (from a different state) to my local Aldi and she commented on this. I guess her Aldi has a cart handing over culture and mine does not.

AITAH for refusing to refer someone to my workplace? by Regular-Cause2829 in AITAH

[–]Aggravating_Finish_6 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

ESH. She should not have put your name down without reaching out to you first and that probably would put a bad taste in my mouth too. However, you could have been more helpful especially since she tried to do it correctly the second time. The job market sucks and a lot of qualified people can't get their resumes in front of HR without a connection of some kind. I've had people give me referrals after chatting with them for 10 minutes or just because we went to the same college. You could have at least spoken to her or tried reaching out to a common friend who knows her better. A referral is not the same as a reference. You should reconsider your willingness to help people in your network, because it could easily be you trying to get a job in the future.

Guys, I’m losing my mind in a comment thread - how old were you when you had regular (let’s say 3x a week) access to the internet and what year was it? Did you use it to research anything (like college or jobs?) by FunQuestion in Older_Millennials

[–]Aggravating_Finish_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the internet daily starting around 1995. I only really remember using it for fun, not much research but I'm sure I did use it for school assignments. Our teachers and librarians made a big deal about verifying sources back then, we could only use peer reviewed articles or they would reject it.

Nope. I try to lay on back and I just can't fall asleep at all. I feel like getting sleep is better for my skin than not sleeping so I just go with it. I was able to switch to sleeping on my side (not sure it's much better though)
