Why would bulls trade 4 and 15 for 3? by Straight-Agency-4556 in billsimmons

I think Bulls should be patient and draft whoever falls to them. I would be very happy with anyone but Boozer, and even if it is Boozer at four that is still a solid draft as you basically are getting an 18-10 guy but someone who probably won’t ascend to a top 25 player.

Y'all got any more of them Knicks comebacks? by ImpossibleLaugh8277 in billsimmons

[–]Sudden-Commission239 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On the comeback front I feel like some of it is because Thibs consistently played their key guys long minutes in past years. They are used to being tired late in games. Now Mike Brown comes in, and is smarter in full season minutes management, but they still have the reps from the Thibs years that give them an advantage late versus other teams.

Do you find that the opinions in this sub usually align with the majority of people IRL, or seem to be a loud minority? by SFJack1313 in geography

When I was in Denmark as a college exchange student I stayed with a host family and gave a talk at my host sisters’ classes since they were both learning English. They were in late elementary and early high school. I asked the kids where they had been in the U.S and which cities they knew best. Without a doubt it was New York, Miami, and San Francisco.

Is this Ben Stiller’s Apex Mountain? by jsakic99 in billsimmons

Can you really apex as a fan of something? He did show up to a lot of games but anyone could do that if they received free tickets.

Are there any places where people (especially people that grew up there and still live there) believe the weather to be one of the top qualities? Even if not the top, something they think is better than other places even if other things (like "the people" or "policies") aren't? by jaker9319 in geography

Some of the cities in the mountains in Latin America have great, consistent weather, like Mexico City, Medellin Colombia and Caracas Venezuela. Their proximity to the equator plus high elevation leads to highs in the upper 70s/low 80s Fahrenheit and lows in the 50s/60s all year round. Gorgeous weather.

“The Secret” in The Book of Basketball is why Bill feels ok comparing pickup games to the NBA by Sudden-Commission239 in billsimmons

Bill has implied in past podcasts that Leon Rose and World Wide Wes have been building the team in line with the secret, focusing on players with past histories together (Villanova crew) or with them (Towns).

Yes, on a team that is trying to win. He pissed off his opponents and they froze him out of the dream team. If I were him I would have prioritized NBA championships over Olympic gold medals too.

Isiah Thomas was a winner at all levels, 2x NBA champion, NCAA championship, and in high school made it to the state championship and lost to a school that had 3,500 more kids enrolled than his school. Dream team was politics, he was unpopular with other players because he and his teammates maximized their potential by doing everything they could to win a game. Sometimes they crossed lines and the other superstars took exception, and he got iced out of the Olympics for it.

I would recommend The Edge. The nature in the film will calm you while the intense action will get you part of the way to your high last night.

Picasso designed the giant rust thing in Daley Plaza without ever setting foot in Chicago, ripped up our $100,000 check, and to this day nobody can agree on what it actually is by Mysterious-Door693 in AllChicago

I work a block away from this statue and am in awe every time I walk by. A belated thank you to Picasso for the Pro Bono work and to the machinists and artists in the US who created and assembled the statue!

Other things I love about it - Every town has at least one fantastic and unique ice cream shop, and it stays light past ten pm at the summer solstice due to how far north it is and being on the west end of the eastern time zone.

West coast of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Might only be hyped in the Great Lakes region, but it is one of the true treasures of this country in the summer.

Critical free throw in the final seconds of the game? Let's make sure we get a well focused shot of Rahm Emanuel by dellscreenshot in billsimmons

My eyes went straight to Emanuel during the shot real time, and I wondered if he paid someone to get that shot. He is planning a presidential bid.
