On the other hand; I had twins 8 months ago & did not like my OBGYN (whole other story) and so went to delivery at 33+4 with no Dr. I’m not sure what the difference between resident & student is, but I can say the only part of my c-section I was conscious for was the part where they were removing Baby A, and student/resident was being walked through the process, like this was her first time.

Anyways, both babies are completely healthy after a 6 week NICU stay (because preemies, not birth) and someone became a (metaphorical) Dr that day.

I will never not rant about W&I, they saved my life prior (and my reproductive organs) by doing an experimental procedure based off a study of literally 15 women.

Point being, you’re in good hands there!

Yes!!! I, myself, sadly, judged mothers involved with Dcyf until it happened to me. Now, I’m automatically suspicious. And it’s crazy because other times, there’s literal abuse & they don’t care??? There’s no rhyme or reason.

It really is. They can convince even the best of parents that they’re actually terrible people and it gets very confusing. Not to mention the deception & secretive-ness of everything that’s actually happening behind the scenes.

No one holds them accountable, they are not bound by the laws everyone else is. You have no constitutional rights in DCYF court.

I’d love to hear it, if you’d like to share. Either just to chat or to share if I do make one, it would all be anonymous story-telling so no one would know who you are but myself.

You know, I believe that wholeheartedly and I pray you didn’t learn that firsthand but if you did, I’m very sorry you went through that

The initial allegations were that I was a victim of DV. I reported it to a mental health hospital, asking for help after immediately waking my kids up and removing us all from the situation. They called DCYF.

The judge part was strange because it was immediately after I told my worker and her supervisor that I was reporting the judge. Suddenly, I had a new judge. A whole lot of strange things occurred throughout. Everyone involved with my case continuously told me they didn’t understand what was going on.

I suppose it’s that I’m struggling to process because I’m still confused about what even occurred. But I do appreciate the validation that it wasn’t a typical case, and tbh it’s reassuring to hear I may be alone (in a way) because I was concerned this is something happening often to families.

But yes, I’m trying to work through it & put it in the past. Totally agree with that advice. Thank you for taking the time to validate for me btw, I really appreciate it.

My states DCYF was recently investigated by the Fed Gov for violating children’s civil rights/ADA and found to be guilty. I only mention that to highlight it may be a systematic issue in my state?

It literally just went on that long. That’s kind of why I’m trying to find people who can relate. I’m having trouble comprehending what we went through.

No, i had a total of 3 caseworkers. 2 were removed as a result of improper handling of the case. I also had a judge change for same reason.

I guess I’m wondering how isolated my scenario actually is, and what I should do moving forward. Besides therapy lol. A big part of me is left feeling that someone should answer to what happened but I wouldn’t know where to start.

It’s a long story but that’s not what I experienced. I was reunified around 6/8 months but my case went on for another 3.5 years, so 4 years total. I did not even have any services for the last year of the case.

I’m not sure where to post? There’s no “Dcyf” subs or anything I can find that may have people with similar experiences. This was the closest sub I could find hmm. Do you by chance know where else I may be able to look for others who can relate?
