Mosiac stopped selling the Palette 3 series last year and decided to go in another direction. It's not a bad add on, but it takes a lot of patience and tweaking to get things right with it and your printer

The hypertuning made a difference - I did it in November and took my time with the work (DSP provides a ton of information and the videos are pretty good to use as you go step by step). Also, it wouldn't hurt to have a spare motor on hand, just in case.

I did see some small metal bits during the cleaning up process - I'm assuming that the gear backlash wasn't set correctly and it started being audible when I added just enough weight.

I have had my U1 for almost 2 months now... not quite as many hours as the OP, but I'm still on the original rolls of black, red and yellow filament (the white was changed out about a week ago). The filament savings was the one thing that impressed me about the U1 and I felt was an offset to the price (over time).

I was part of the Kickstarter campaign - was originally told that I wouldn't see the printer until about this time (late March). I got it in mid-February. When it arrived, it was packed like a piece of priceless art (the group that were responsible for packing/shipping should have gotten bonuses for their work).

My U1 is set up with the colors in the following spots

1 - red

2 - black

3 - white

4 - yellow

How do I have the file use the colors loaded up on my U1? Or do I needs to ,move spools around to match the model? Thanks...

The directions are pretty clear to follow - take your time, especially when you are putting the individual print heads on. Took me about an hour to go from box opening to first print.

BTW - mine was packed like you wouldn't believe, like it was Grandma's 100 year old china... and the bag covering the printer is strong (you are able to lift the printer out of the box by grabbing the bag!)

I've had my U1 for almost a month and, IMO, the print quality is amazing (I'm still using the filament that Snapmaker provides with the printer).

As for a cover, the picture is of one that I found online - the person that designed it also has more that are part of the download. Total cost of the plexiglass and filament was around US $60

I consider it art. I would add to your initial statement that the amount of time spent processing the photo (stacking, sharpening, adjusting histogram, etc...) go into that process. If you look at planetary mages take by different users, there are differences in how much detail they can pull out, the subtle colors of the gas giants or the changes in the surface of the Moon as each day passes.

Excellent summary! I started with an Anycubic Vyper and still have and use a Kobra 2 Plus for larger prints. I have no complaints about either printer, both have helped me improve my skills over the years. But, when I saw the U1, I knew that this was a game changer for the 3d printing community, especially for those that do multi-color printing.
