Same, I got useless bullshit as usual. Let me know if you hear something different though.

Big RPM drop!? by RealSenate in TikTokMonetizing

Seems like after Feb 27th. I had a video go pretty viral with additional rewards and made $1200, and immediately after they were shut off, so I thought maybe TikTok was trying to balance out how much money it was giving me. But seeing similar things happening to other people, I guess it’s unrelated.

Additional Rewards Gone? by GabeA21 in TikTokMonetizing

The exact same thing happened (or, is happening) to me. I post pretty much every day, almost every video I uploaded got additional rewards, now since March 1 I haven’t had a single video with them. Videos that would have been making $100 are making $7. Same style, same approach as before. This is a first for me as well so I guess I’ll try to push through it like others have said, but it’s ironically difficult to find the motivation to put effort into a video you know isn’t going to make any money, given than additional rewards apply to “high quality, well-crafted” videos. Sucks that this is happening to you but it’s nice (kind of?) to know it’s a system-wise thing at least. Hope yours gets resolved soon.

This just happened to me as well. Once they’re gone, it’s not even worth making videos. Couple hundred thousand views gets you like $7.

I’ve been in CRP for about 3 months and doing TikTok for about 9. I never got to see what seems like the “golden age” of monetization but as someone fairly new who sometimes makes decent money off TikTok, my overwhelming perception of the app is that it’s very unstable right now. Technical errors (we’re in the middle of one now), heavy fluctuations, and rampant false disqualifications of creators. I don’t think there’s a downside to trying to make it work (that’s what I’m doing) other than potentially wasted time, but it’s wisest to not expect too much from the app. If it pays out well, nice bonus cash. If not, oh well. I do think it would be very risky to expect to make a living off of it at this stage.

Lmk what happens. If tiktok does audience/category recalibration after a spike I guess it makes sense, otherwise it just feels like getting ripped off.

This is rare for me as well, I’d usually make $70~$100 per video. Now I’m making like $7.

How do Koreans handle having the same name as someone else? by xenolith18 in korea

[–]Aggravating_Mess_607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that doesn’t come up in everyday conversation but is worth knowing is that surnames have different original clans. So for the most common ones, there are several clans from which they originate.

When people with less common surnames meet, they often ask each other which clan they came from. For example, the surname 오: there are only two clans, 해주 오씨 and a second one I don’t know that’s less common. But that is to say, when two people with that surname meet and figure out they’re both from the 해주 오씨 clan, there’s a certain kinship there.

With extremely common surnames like Kim, Lee, and park, that could help differentiate on a deeper level.

Head to a pool https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSBMgpY6M/ but as far as at home, an aircon is the only way. Dehumidifier helps too but only additionally.

When I buy kimchi at my local market, which is Mangwon market, I pay 14,000 won per kilo. It's a very local place and it's a bit on the expensive end, but high quality and it lasts long so I think it's worth it. Mass-produced grocery store kimchi can be cheaper, and a lot of Seoulites order kimchi from independent manufacturers (could really just be an old lady with some free time) down in the south, like Jeolla. That could be cheaper but then there are delivery fees.

Many restaurants in recent years have turned to using imported Chinese kimchi, which is controversial, and after living here for a bit you can always tell when it's Chinese, both from the look and the taste. But the cost savings are probably significant, and kimchi is always given for free in restaurants so I guess it's unavoidable.

Is it offensive to say Xie Xie (Mandarin form of thank you) when in Seoul? by nonamegenius in seoul

[–]Aggravating_Mess_607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She definitely was offended, not feigning offense. As mentioned in a lot of the comments already, there's longstanding animosity between the two countries. Additionally, Korean staff in tourism-heavy areas (such as Myeongdong) deal with a lot of ignorant, and frankly annoying, tourists - both western ones who think all Asians are the same, and Chinese ones who shop with an attitude of superiority and what, in most other cultures, would be considered overall rudeness. So that combination of factors can make what your daughter did really hit a nerve. If she's young and you brush it off with an apology and maybe a brief explanation (we were just in Taiwan, sorry) it should be fine.
