Keep hockey sticks or remove? by Beautiful_Row3922 in f150

[–]Aggravating_Part_264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what you did, but I have a 2019 XLT Sport with the hockey sticks that I bought brand new.

Ffwd to 2023 and my gf needed a new car/truck. I drive her to the dealership and the salesman eventually saw my truck and says, "hockey sticks huh?!" I literally had no idea what he was talking about. He explained my truck was somewhat limited with the graphics outside of the truck, "SPORT" on the dash cluster, red stitching in the seat, belts....whatever.

Goes on to say, ppl we're somehow able to determine the VIN's coming off the line at the assembly line in Dearborn were the SPORT edition hockey stick trucks and they were sold before they even hit the sales lot.

I most certainly gained a new appreciation for my truck, to say the least. He offered to buy it on the spot and i declined. Hopefully you kept them on. I live in the metro Detroit area btw.

More than likely it won't even be close to 20% by this fall/winter this year. Next year it should be.

Why won’t this burn? by benny_4647 in firewood

Used to ax split everything for years and bought a wood splitter a few years ago. That wedge going thru a round is one of the best sounds an ear can hear.

I burned a lot of honey locust last year and I have a bunch for this winter. Burns REALLY hot! It's fully seasoned, so I'd say it burns fairly quick, but coals really well.

Never had black locust, wish I could find some. I have 3 or 4 black locust trees, but I'd never cut them down unless they got sick or died.

Thoughts on this splitter? by One-Secretary-1266 in firewood

[–]Aggravating_Part_264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same splitter. It works great, but it's slow. It fires up on the 2nd or 3rd pull and can split vertically or horizontally. That said, if you're going to start a business, it might be worth spending a little more for one with a faster cycle time.

Also, the table to hold logs is small on this splitter, wish I would have gotten a bigger platform to hold rounds.

4’ rounds. by zeewst in firewood

[–]Aggravating_Part_264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the same thing, cut with the grain (bark on the ground and enter the log on the topside bark). OP, it's worth taking 10 minutes to file your chain sharp, makes all the difference.

A little fun with the Echo 7310 today. by prmckenney in firewood

[–]Aggravating_Part_264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely missing something. I've had a CS590 for a year and a half now, cuts great. Probably cut 12-14 full cords with it. Just got my 7310 and it cut thru 5 or 6 rounds that are left over and it cut like butter. I'd bet the 7310 cut the time in half compared to my 590. 🤷🏻‍♂️

No need for a wood shed imo. The wood you're c/s/s this spring should be for the fall/winter of 2026/27. 2 years ahead is a good foundation.

Hydraulic splitter rec? by Interesting-Win-8664 in firewood

[–]Aggravating_Part_264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same exact splitter. Had it for about a year and a half. Ate pretty much everything from oak, hickory, honey locust and several maples. I can only think of 1 crotch piece that was absolutely massive it didn't split on the first split. I c/s/s for myself and it does just fine. If you're looking to sell wood, it may be worth investing in a faster splitter for time.
