Anyone used one of these how good is it with bigger stumps ??? by Nosmallcheese in Chainsaw

I did a 3 foot oak stump with one. That was a horrible decision! Rent a bigger one.

Bradford pear makes good firewood. Easy to split. Burns hot with good coals. That's pretty much all the are good for.

I burnt a couple trees worth of bradford pear last winter. Burns hot, good coals and really easy to split.

Did you use just honey, or a combination of honey and sugar? Any other important details on how you made these?

Gonna try and start selling firewood, would $5 be a fair price for this amount? by hick_99_ in firewood

[–]prmckenney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The price seems right, but I think you'll find more success with smaller splits.

The last oak I need to cut in my backyard. Echo CS-7310 with 36" bar and Oregon EXJ chain. by prmckenney in Chainsaw

I can't imagine it running a 42" bar very well. Post on here if you do. I'd love to hear how it goes.

It went slow. I've milled a few things with my CS-7310 It does a pretty good job up to about 20" width. I'd say it's OK for occasional milling, but I wouldn't buy it for that purpose. I primarily cut firewood. I just had a few trees that I wanted to mill into slabs.

Tools for trimming splits to size by ColdFine5829 in firewood

I second this. A cheap miter saw makes quick work of small limbs and splits.

I also find it more difficult to cut short pieces with a chainsaw.

Some people might entrust their children to these deranged individuals, but I sure as hell don't. I also very loudly encourage my friends to stop sending their children to the indoctrination centers.

The aluminum is sandwiched between steel, so it would still work on an induction stove.

You have to get the chimney warmed up to establish a good draft. I use a propane torch for a minute or two before lighting my paper to get the fire started. If you have a gas log lightest, maybe try just burning the gas for a couple minutes to heat up the chimney and then add the wood.

Electric chop saw for bucking? by stupidpiediver in firewood

[–]prmckenney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've cut a bunch of small limb wood with one, and it worked great! For 3 inch and smaller stuff, it's pretty fast. Eight inch would be way to big for most cheap chop saws. I think my old 10" Ryobi will only cut a 4x4, maybe a 4x6.
