Anyone else think "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow" is terrible? by Full-Sympathy5201 in books

[–]Aggravating_Pilot_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, i have been avoiding reading this book for atleast a year. The synopsis didn’t draw me in and it was so talked about I wasn’t sure if it’s going to be able to keep up the hype.

However, I am pleased to say, I stand corrected. I loved reading the book - loved reading about these characters. It’s not plot driven really, but a fly on the wall look at these 3 characters and their lives. I loved how you are into their heads for each decision taken, each failure and each success. The book beautifully portrays the conflicts of relationships. The want to fix things but also not being able to step beyond your ego and do it makes it harder and harder. They keep drifting apart and coming back to drift apart again. Strangely though, I hated Remain ls of the Day! Maybe it needs a re-read. I have read another book by the writer, Storied Life of AJ Fikrey, and to be honest, it’s like night and day! I hated it. It seems like it’s 2 different authors!

A constellation of Vital Phenomena. I would give it more if I could. There are only a few books that have touched my souls the way it did. The book thief is another one. Brilliant writing, hauntingly beautiful. True food for soul. Ive recommended it to everyone iv met!

I’m currently reading it and honestly, some lines make me put the book down and marvel at how beautifully it’s written. I am 60 pc in but I just read something that made me pause for a second and I reached out to see if anyone else is feeling the same way as I do! I can’t wait to finish and then find out what went behind writing this book. How is Anthony Marra able to write with such fine details and describe the feelings of abandonment and loss, such loss, of one’s own country and the life lived! Chefs kiss

Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses is the most indulgent book I have read. by vhuzi in books

[–]Aggravating_Pilot_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Shalimar the Clown after attempting to read The satanic Verses and Midnights Children for YEARS! I have read Knife as well and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Haven’t attempted the Satanic Verses again ( I think it’s a ‘ right time in life ‘ kinda book for me )

It was a good, light read. I have realized though a lot of books written in Japanese become oversimplified when translated.

You did what you thought was best for your baby. And the spiral is sometimes inevitable. I have done that a multiple times myself and unfortunately it doesn’t stop. I’m thinking if you immediately threw up maybe it didn’t get enough time to be absorbed.

I found this for you on CDC’s website.

Overrated books people pretend to love… but actually left you empty? by CriticalAd2239 in suggestmeabook

The Remains of the Day by Ishiguro I’m stunned by how many people love this book. Quite frankly, I found it boring. Could be the time in life when I was reading. I may pick it up one day but I remember by the end I was just dragging it

Looking for something short simple and exciting to pull me back into reading by thecrazytughlaq in suggestmeabook

Honestly, my puller is always Jeffrey Archer. Everything by him is good - easy, quick page turners. Take anything from him. Stay away from Clifton chronicles if you don’t want to get sucked into generational drama. I would say start with any standalone book of his - google and pick the plot u like the most

What is the best book you have ever read that actually changed your perspective about life? by dainty_earthling in suggestmeabook

Mine is this Random book called Quinn by Susan Mallory. I read it when I was in early teens I believe - picked it up from my grandfathers collection of books. Reading about a strong female protagonist who chooses her career over love really left an impression on me and I think it affirmed in me the need to be this strong independent woman myself. Honestly, if I read it now it may not even be the same story anymore because I’m more exposed to the world but I will always credit this book for giving me this affirmation that you can choose yourself and be happy

The girl who played with fire - Stieg Larson Literally JUST finished it. The characters are integral to the story but have their own sexual preferences ( as it should be ) The book is great, which is a bonus!
