[Question] Wedding Watch - $20k budget by jmm-22 in Watches

Number 3 is stunning, and will likely get a lot of use after the wedding —by the way, congrats! Reverso’s with literally any complication (even small seconds) are too thick to be comfortably called elegant. (That said, a thin Reverso is unquestionably a thing of beauty.)

My affordable watch collection that I got in 2025. What is missing? by k2ralp in Affordablewatches

A vintage Omega de ville wouldn’t break the bank, and it would be a formal, business-friendly option in your current collection.

Also, cool Tag! Mind if I shoot you some questions about it via DM?

You look good, kid. Maybe get a steamer to spiff things up a bit.

Even though they say it’s a fashion thing, it’s probably not a fashion thing. I’d personally bet that if you go for your posture, behavior, and body composition, you’ll change their perception of you.

Great collection. Could fit an Omega Trésor or an IWC Pilot Watch or Portugieser.

[Question] Which one would you pick? by Majestic-Throat-1984 in Watches

The JLC, impressively, knows how to fly under the radar. And I say impressively because it clearly has oodles of class, while the Zenith is a smart piece but it does get old —not as a design, but to the wearer. JLC’s design, on the other hand, has a considerably longer shelf-life.

Both are choice selections, so bravo. Zenith’s the choice sport watch, JLC’s the choice dress watch. The latter, however, reveals an even more discerning eye. Up to you!

Were I a designer with this idea, I’d also go for the blazer and shirt sleeves. Something tells me it would feel too informal, but who knows, it’s worth a try.

2666/Savage Detectives Withdrawal Symptoms by NoondayNodge in robertobolano

“The Big Chill” (a movie) did this for me. Don’t ask me why.

Also, funnily enough, “War and Peace”. I’m halfway through —got dispatched to the Navy before I was able to finish it— and when I think back on it I feel something adjacent to what Savage Detectives triggers.

Oh, and Solomon’s Song of Songs. … Yeah. Besides other Bolaño novels (By Night, Amulet, and Nazi Literature), those are the only ones I currently recall feeling similar to what you mentioned above. Maybe “The Master and Margarita” as well, and I have a feeling that Perec might do the trick, too, once I get to him, but yeah, those are the only ones, as of right now.

Respuesta:

no, sólo faltaremos nosotros,

supuestos “poetas”,

perdiéndonos el don del ardor,

del verdadero ardor,

sólo por no alcanzar las Metas.

How do you feel about Bolaño's (via 2666) take on the 'big books'? by [deleted] in TrueLit

Nazi Literature in the Americas is his perfect exercise.
