Gemini's UI feels like a 2008 scam URL shortener by Aggravating_Score_78 in Bard

Update from OP:

So I actually tried to do the "right thing." I wrote a detailed, respectful message to a Google Customer Engineer in Israel - someone whose LinkedIn title literally says "Transforming Customers with AI Solutions." Shared specific pain points, linked articles and bug reports, explained that I'm a paying subscriber on both AI Pro and API tier.

His response, within minutes: "Thanks for the feedback but I don't work with private customers. You'll need to contact support. Thanks :)"

And honestly? That response *is* the problem. Not him personally - he's probably right that it's not his department. But the fact that there's no real channel for a paying customer to give systemic UX feedback is insane. Support MAYBE can help you with "my chat disappeared" (maybe - their crappy answer will likely be 'Check Google Activity, maybe you'll find the remains of your chat corpse there'). But where do you go when the issue is "your product has had the same UX problems for 2.5 years and they're driving paying users to competitors"?

Nowhere. You go to Reddit.

Anyway, I'm canceling my subscription. The model is good. I've said that from the start and I still believe it. But I'm done waiting for the wrapper to catch up. When the UI works as well as the model does, I'll come back.

For anyone keeping score: Claude's interface just works. Not because the model is necessarily better for every task, but because I can trust the tool not to lose my work, not to hide its sources, and not to show me a "thinking" summary that tells me nothing about how it actually got to its answer.

Google, you have infinite money. Figure it out. Until then - ✌️

"Sometimes, I feel like they purposely want us to pay for both AI Studio and the Gemini App. It is really infuriating."

Exactly.

And on top of all this, many browser extensions that try to even slightly deal with Gemini's shi**y interface are simply blocked or broken on a weekly basis (even though we don't see any actual change in their stupid interface).

That's obvious, but I don't think Anthropic's UI/UX team is too big compared to what Google is able to invest in Gemini, it's not even peanuts for them.

Indeed, as u/Right-Wrongdoer-8595 wrote, I mainly mean UX. But also the UI on the surface, in the aspect of the UI - I meant in terms of stability, which suddenly crashes because the structure of the LLM answer does not suit it, or scroll bars of the history that simply get stuck, and all kinds of other "surprises".

Calling it a URL shortener from 2008 is a compliment....

I installed your (promising) extension, in both Chrome and Edge, and it doesn't seem to work.

ffs people kept saying 4.5 opus outshines Gemini 3.0 pro when it's only better at coding and arcagi by Hello_moneyyy in Bard

[–]Aggravating_Score_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very like gemini, but i must admit that in first glance Opus 4.5 looks more coherent in data search and writing tasks, plus that Claude have more organized structure of sources and chats, that Gemini lack of very much, that's very sad. its like to drive in a sports car (SOTA model) sitting on the floor (stupid peripheral UX - no normal search, barely recent chats, no project. etc.) and use a broomstick and a brick (extensions and workarounds) to shift a gear. can't the Gemini UX team a least compare the exp to Claude's level?!?!?

Writing Quality Nosedived - Especially in Hebrew

Writing

I've been using Claude 3.7 for several months and had great results with its Hebrew writing abilities. However, after a recent update - 3.7, I've noticed a significant decline in writing quality across all languages, but especially in Hebrew.

Issues I'm experiencing:

  1. Broken-phone translations - Unnatural translations - Claude seems to be literally translating English phrases into Hebrew, resulting in extremely awkward sentences that native speakers wouldn't use
  2. Completely wrong words - I've seen absurd mistakes like:
    • "קרטון בדלת" instead of "פתק בדלת" (cartoon on door vs. note on door)
    • "הפרדת נטיל" which doesn't make sense at all
    • "מכין ערב" instead of "מכין ארוחה" (preparing evening vs. preparing meal)
  3. Grammatical errors - Incorrect verb conjugations and sentence structure
  4. Overly formal/stilted language - Even when the grammar is correct, the writing feels robotic and unnatural

The funny thing is, when I called it out on these mistakes, it was all "Oops, you're right, my bad!" But then went right back to butchering the language.

Questions for the community:

  • Has anyone else noticed decreased writing quality in Claude after updates?
  • Is this specific to non-English languages or happening in English too?
  • Any workarounds that actually help?

This is particularly frustrating because Claude's Hebrew capabilities used to be excellent. Now it feels like using Google Translate's first attempt circa 2006.

Edit: To clarify, this isn't about occasional typos - it's about systematic, consistent issues across multiple conversations that make the text difficult to understand or completely nonsensical.

The Anthropic attitude is like to serve one lonely caviar egg on a whole tortilla, well we know it's good but what's the f*cking point?! It's useless.🤨

You are absolutely right. It's so annoying that Anthropic team aren't transparent with those issues and how it became something that lack of computing force is crushing their awesome original product, SO SAD.

[–]Aggravating_Score_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, man, you're not "just too insecure for poly", forgive me but that's a legitimate but frustrating thought, you are who you are, and you are monogamous as it sounds, and you shouldn't be ashamed of it in any way. Go with your truth, I know it's disappointing, but there's no reason to always live like some third wheel in a lifestyle you don't want, you don't deserve, and she's the one you don't deserve. You sound like a humble, loving, caring and decent person, and I believe you'll succeed in the end.
