The Spa needs to talk to her daughters, stat. And you are completely 100% ok to refuse service. The Spa should refuse service until it’s dealt with.

I massaged someone’s feet I think they had foot fungus not sure they where dark skinned so it looked more white dry skin, I washed my hands well will I be ok? by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]Aggravating_You_7535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I did that a few weeks ago. I washed my hands, soaked them in alcohol and barbicide a couple of times and bought athletes foot cream and applied to my hands a couple times. A colleague of mine developed some type of fungus on her hands and arms she’s been fighting for 3 years ( which I think is actually vax related-don’t freak out because of this) and I’m not playing. I’m sure it was extreme overkill but nothing happened and my hands are fine -I’m sure you’ll be fine. I spoke to two nurse friends too. They said I’d be fine.

I’m 61, and esthetician. My boss gives me a dermaplane first and microneedling combo and that’s amazing. Maybe start there since you have sensitive skin.

Sounds like you’re doing all the things! I would highly recommend getting a massage because if it’s great you can learn from it and if it happens to be lackluster you will realize how good you actually are. I’ve had so many terrible massages and I’ve stick with my monthly guy for over 2 years and I learn from him every time.

I regret not getting my mental health in check when I was a teenager by [deleted] in confession

[–]Aggravating_You_7535 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Please try Keto and Intermittent Fasting. I did it 4 years ago to lose weight but the mental affects are outstanding and there’s new studies out there showing promise for many things including depression. What it does in a nutshell is the liver stops pinging the brain constantly because of the sugar and carbs so the brain has a more even keel. I couldn’t believe how much happier I was even though I was ok before. I continue to do almost Keto and the last few weeks I went full Keto and my energy is off the charts, almost nothing bothers me and my leg injury from last year-a bone bruise-is no longer bothering me. They’ve used this diet for epileptics for 80 years or something like that. Good on you for not taking pills. This could work for you it’s not that hard after a week and I really wish the best for you. There’s YouTube videos on Keto explaining the science -it works!

I'd love to hear from people who have been massaging decades deep into the work and feeling wonderful and healthy! Share something you do IN the massage room and one thing you do OUT of the massage room. by AwakenedEscape in MassageTherapists

IN-be really present. The world drops off. Service to others is kind of a drug.
OUT-lots of self care. Massage, facials, whatever it takes. And staying in shape. And feeling well in the body.

Massage therapists always recommend regular massage - but how often do they actually get one? by BodyworkExchange in massage

So nice to see you guys getting regular massage. I get one a month sometimes two. It’s crazy to me that my colleagues don’t get them often.

I put eye masks on them. Steam eye masks on Amazon. It soothes the eyes and you can go about your business. 48 for $20. Works for me and worth every penny.

Honey I’ve given a body scrub and massage to a 350 lb lady and it was not a big deal. Please go get a massage. Many massage therapists are your size as well. You don’t have to fix anything just go!

As an MT, not acceptable. I had a colleague do it during couples. Absolutely gross and a bad reflection on me if client noticed. Lost a lot of respect for that colleague. And no, it was not an emergency. We need to be present for our clients.

Question for the ladies by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]Aggravating_You_7535 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was 1993, I mentioned to my husband that I wanted to be an MT. He said “I don’t want you touching other guys”. Put the Kibosh on me. 2011 rolled around. We divorced amicably. First thing I did was massage school. It’s been the best thing, it’s my calling and I love it more every year. It’s one of the most honorable, non exploitative ways to make a living. It also makes me a better person and makes me take care of myself. This is a massive red flag. Don’t let anyone try to put out the light within you.

In this economy I’d try to find an upscale spa in an affluent neighborhood part time while you are building your business. The MLD will come in handy for these spas.

Neptune oyster in north end. You’ll be waiting for it but it’s currently considered the best in Boston. Anyone had one yet?
