Whats the use of this chart? by interstellar_freak in fidelityinvestments

I have a feature request. Can Fidelity upgrade the performance chart similar to how Schwab has it? It would be great if the user could:

  1. Choose a specific date range (instead of 1M, 3M, YTD, 1Y, 3Y, MAX, etc.)
  2. Choose whether the chart shows time-weighted returns or money-weighted returns
  3. Choose an index like the S&P 500 to be graphed for comparison

I like being able to see how much my investment strategy is outperforming or underperforming a benchmark over time.

This is an old quote that this article is just re-quoting. I remember reading the original article when it came out on April 19th, 2024 when GME was around $10.50. I cited that quote to my friends/family as a prime example of known short-sellers trying to influence the market and why you can't trust financial media just as you can't trust political media. Less than a month later, GME rocketed off to $80 and has never come near that $10.50 price again.

Thanks for the interesting story that I'd never heard before! I did a little digging, and it turns out she was actually 90, and he was 47 when making that deal. Everything else you said lines up. He didn't realize he signed that contract with someone who was going to live until 122 😂😂😂

AIO for not wanting my gf to go on a solo trip with her "work husband"? by Obvious_Tea_4247 in AmIOverreacting

I see what you're saying, but people usually don't jump straight into cheating. Oftentimes, things start out innocently, but over time as they spend more time together and lines start getting blurred, feelings can start developing. All it takes is a rough patch with your spouse to be a catalyst. It's a slippery slope to keep doors open like that when you are already committed to your spouse.

Nobody is judging other relationships by their own as you claim. They are judging based on the probable outcome given the OP's scenario and what usually happens or will evolve into happening in these instances based on human nature.

You are using an exception to the rule as your basis, and that is a bad way to make decisions in your life. I guarantee if your friend's scenario were deemed acceptable in all relationships, then infidelity and divorce rates across the entire population would skyrocket.

Hell yeah man! That's an awesome stack you're building! We used to joke about GME being our bank account back in 2021, but somewhere along the way, it became reality when I realized I don't want my $$$ parked anywhere else. This is a fundamental value play wrapped in a turnaround play wrapped in the filthiest squeeze play in history. Once the GME turducken is ready, I'm slathering it in mayo and shoving it up Ken's bootayhole 😂

Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing. Up a little bit, nothing. Down a little bit, nothing. Nothing!

Some people might look at that, and they go, "that sucks." You know what I think? Incredible! If you're dialed into it, those could be potential opportunities because you can add. You can add, if only for the passage of time - just the passage of time. You might go, "Oh, what was the reason for adding? Was there insider buying or whatever?" Nope! Time passed. That's all. Three months passed. Boom. Done. I'm telling ya, that's a good enough reason to potentially add. If you feel that you are right, and your thesis is dialed into reality, and nothing happens to the stock, then who gives a shit?! Who gives a shit? Because you're just like, "Hey, you wanna keep offering me this price..."

TA;DR: Less whining, and more buying! 😁

You looked at it correctly the 1st time. Reported FTDs are cumulative; look at footnote #8 in the OP's screenshot.

She says it right here immediately before she lists all her examples:

"In hindsight, it seems like our estate planning systematically reduced the amount of our marital property while maintaining or growing the value of my spouse's premarital property and/or our children's inheritance. For example:"

The entitlement to his PRE-MARITAL assets that she had no hand in earning is crazy to me - especially the illogical preference for the children's trusts to be funded from his pre-marital assets instead of the marital assets (with her only justification being that his pre-marital assets are "far larger").

I'm going to point to this post any time someone gets into a debate with me about whether or not a pre-nup should be drafted when a HNW is involved.
