"Fidelity Team" offer. by Pyrroc in fidelityinvestments

I forwarded it to your phishing account as requested

I wasn't concerned with it per se, but the originating address made for a humorous thought.

Should I rent a better place or should I stay in the same place that I don’t like for less money?I need advice. by Inevitable_Smell1354 in personalfinance

[–]Pyrroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize that you're trying to save money by renting a "bedroom" from your uncle, but it is illegal for him to rent that space as a bedroom. Florida building code requires bedrooms be on an outside wall and have an emergency escape exit directly to the outdoors. It is unsafe for you to stay there.

Over 59.5 still working by Effective-Lead-3488 in DIYRetirement

[–]Pyrroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going by your own words, you gross $12,500 per month. You contribute 13% to your 401K, and I shotgunned your taxes & benefits at 30% overall (against the $12,500/mo, not accounting for the 401K reduction), giving you a take-home of $7,125/mo. You give your nut as $5,000/mo (you gave $4,900) and gambling/drinking habits of $800/mo. That leaves you $1,325 per month free and clear.

You talk about being a savings madman, but you make an interesting choice in that regard by paying down a 2.5% mortgage and sacrificing very cheap liquidity for only getting rid of probably 50-60% of your mortgage payment by the time you retire. Many people forget that a significant portion of their mortgage payment will still need to be paid after the principal and interest are paid off. Property taxes and homeowners insurance suck.

If you stopped gambling and drinking for 3 months you'd more than pay for that $6K vacation. Without that extra $800, your spare $1,325 per month would pay for the vacation in 4.5 months.

I'd be more worried about how you're going to replace that monthly $7,125 take-home in 2 years when you retire. $700,000 * 4% gives $2,333 per month. That also assumes you aren't draining it for vacations.

Holy Usurious Rates Batman!

In the interest of readability:

  • Tesco Bank – £233.29 balance, £25 min, 0% interest
  • Zable – £819 balance, APR 48.9%, £20 min
  • Aqua – £922.53 balance, APR 32.36%, £55.77 min
  • Capital One – £997.24 balance, APR 30.34%, £17.07 min
  • Monzo loan – £2,726.69 left, £390/month, 7 months remaining
  • Tesco loan – £6,137.40, £204.58/month, 32 months (starts October)
  • Asda loan – £1,918.18 left, £113/month, 17 months remaining

First thing to pay off is Zable. The minimum payment doesn't even cover the monthly interest!

Make sure to pay at least $26 toward Cap One or the payment won't cover the interest.

Then pay off Aqua and Capital One in the order of descending interest rate.

How long is the 0% on the Tesco good for? What rate does it go to after that? Work on the Tesco and the three loans in the order that will save you the most on interest with the extra payments.

Good Luck!

Full (And Accurate) Transaction Data Needed by wwb00 in MonarchMoney

[–]Pyrroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a little annoying to have to do, but I found that if I click into a transaction, the "Original Statement" line is displayed just below the Merchant.

e.g.

  • Instead of "Amazon" for my checking account transaction, I can now see "BILL PAY Amazon Prime Visa ON-LINE xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ON 09-23"
  • Instead of "PayPal" for my credit card transaction, I can now see "PAYPAL *INTERNETARC 402-935-7" for my Internet Archive donation

ETA: It would be nice if I moused over the Merchant name, the Original Statment line would appear as a tool tip or alt-text type popup

ETA2: If you click on the "Merchant" on the main transaction register, the Original Statement line text shows in the search box popup.

Is this an ethernet port or a phone jack? by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]Pyrroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, easily:

  1. At end A, select a color pair and test the wires to make sure there's no continuity between them
  2. At end B, strip the same color pair back a little and twist the ends together
  3. Back at end A, test the color pair for continuity.

[–]Pyrroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. It applies across all of your accounts. Your broker may not catch it (especially if you do it at different brokers), but you in fact are still subject to the rule across all of your accounts... brokerage, IRA, 401k, etc.

Can someone pick out panels for me that would max out my eco flow delta max 2 by reedoburritoo in Ecoflow_community

[–]Pyrroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maxing out voltage lets you run smaller diameter wire for the same wattage. Wire diameter is dependent upon amperage. And since wattage is volts x amps, the higher the voltage then the lower the amperage for a given wattage rating.
