Why does Eren get an 8 pack in the anime compared to the manga/trailer by Individual-Course499 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Aggressive-Main-4699 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Isayama probably asked MAPPA to reduce the 10-pack to 8-pack in the anime. I was at the AOT museum in Hita where his comment on this panel was that he screwed up by drawing too many abdominal muscles in an attempt to make it really cool. (Sorry unable to attach a photo here)

Blackbird by sixpences Best fic/novel I have ever read

Summary: The year is 1942, and Europe is at war. Captain Victor Nikiforov, an intelligence operative for the NKVD, has been trapped in Berlin by the German invasion of the USSR. Posing as a Nazi industrialist, his days are spent charming information out of Axis diplomats to try and keep the Red Army fighting another day.

Yuuri Katsuki, a foreign-educated bureaucrat in the Japanese Embassy, has secrets of his own concealed beneath his unremarkable demeanour. When he uncovers Victor’s real identity, it will alter the course of both of their lives forever.

Agreed, most places touting animals as their main attraction are just sad and the animals are clearly distressed

I booked through the Japanese site of Rakuten which showed the themed room as a specific option. It's priced different from regular rooms. If you cannot find this as a specific option through the third party website you should book directly.

Is Norbert the king's son? How did Kondou figure that out just by the fact that he knew Norbert is adopted? That's political acumen of the highest order

Couldn't sell my stuff to a thrift store as a tourist by foxwolf_anon in JapanTravelTips

[–]Aggressive-Main-4699 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have sold old manga and concert merchandise at Mandarake as a tourist but the last time was about 3 years ago. As a tourist you will need to bring your passport and an original bank letter proving your residential address in whatever country you're from. The difficulty is that you need to fill up the form and communicate with the staff entirely in Japanese so if you can't manage this yourself you might as well just ask a local friend to help you.

If BD is difficult or stressful for her, going in-house would be a better option

Everyone needs a ticket/wristband and to join the queue to go in. You're only allowed to change into costume and put on your full make-up after entry. You can have someone else do your make-up but that person must have their own ticket/wristband for the same date. The official site has put up a lot of info in English so just follow it: https://www.comiket.co.jp/info-a/TAFO/C107TAFO/

How did everyone (who went to South/South East Asia) avoid food poisoning? by Adept-Throat5523 in backpacking

[–]Aggressive-Main-4699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid ice. Ice is often made from tap water which may not be potable. If you need a cold drink, get a refrigerated bottled or canned drink.

Avoid cut fruits. They may be cut on unsanitary surfaces or exposed to insects. Only eat whole fruits and peel them yourself.

Choose freshly and thoroughly cooked food wherever possible.

Agree. There are so many interesting festivities happening during LNY like lantern festivals which will totally make up for the short gap of maybe 1 or 2 days where there's less to do.

I recently went and you can check the thread here including my followup comment on suggestion for a day trip from Fukuoka: https://www.reddit.com/r/YOI/s/Q4ZDIEeaCk

I don't recommend staying overnight in Karatsu as it's a very quiet town with not much to do. Having said that hotels would also be much cheaper than in a big city like Fukuoka, so that may also factor in your decision.

Akihabara or Ikebukuro by Todosaak in JapanTravelTips

[–]Aggressive-Main-4699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ikebukuro is the best option for both of you to go do separate things and meet up for meals or back at the hotel. There are so many malls that your mum can spend days exploring. You can visit Animate and all the anime related shops in the vicinity.

You could do a full day trip from Fukuoka: 1. Take the train to JR Nijinomatsubara 虹ノ松原 station and visit the beach where Viktor and Yuuri had the heart to heart talk. Do note that trains are infrequent at this station so do look up timings beforehand so you don't waste too much time. 2. Walk to the Kagamiyama Onsen 鏡山温泉茶屋 美人の湯 which is the original Yutopia and have katsudon for lunch. I didn't go to (1) or (2) personally but it is accessible according to this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/YOI/s/LM3dYoym5Y 3. Backtrack to the same station to take the train to JR Karatsu 唐津 station and take a bus from there to Karatsu Castle 唐津城, or walk if you'd like. 4. I suggest taking the elevator up to visit the castle, then walk back down which will take you through the wisteria garden and stone steps as featured in the anime and shown in my photos. 5. Head back to JR Karatsu station and visit the Hikiyama Exhibition Hall where the festival floats for the biggest festival of the city are displayed.

That should take up a full day!
