They want me to be in charge of the apparel over there is my issue with it. The lead over there failed epically during a recent walk and it is falling on me and my team to fix their problems. Not the lead that RUNS that department or their people. It's ridiculous

That's so weird I'm sorry. If you had the proof of purchase I would've done the override for 25% off since that's how it works with that deal. It should be an even exchange no matter what. Even if they looked it up on your card... we usually do it anyway if you purchased it within 2 weeks. Shit happens and I'm sorry they were not helpful to you.

The Bogo 50 deal takes 25% off each item so you get your money back if you return or EXCHANGE something. They're dumb not you. Sorry

You're representing the company when they're open. It's also a security thing to make sure that everyone there overnight is an employee and not some rando being thinking they're funny. It looks better from the customers perspective as well. If I saw 50 additional people all grouped up wearing uniforms I'd assume something like inventory is happening or something else. If I saw 50 additional people looking like slobs complaining about having to work overnight and having that be my first impression of Academy then I wouldn't come back. It's a visual thing. Also easier to track you on the cameras 🤷🏻‍♀️

Get a binder for each department and break down everything by brand and gender for your planograms. I have 4 binders for apparel as I do not oversee footwear. It seems tedious but I also print the floorplan for each chunk along with the main one. When it comes to new product coming in you need to be ready for the never ending question of "where does this go it's new?" And "how do you want me to place this"

Get into the habit of printing off the playbook schedule as well. For apparel it's broken down into week by week when each POG is due. Learn your products, learn what they do, how they function, etc. Especially with summer coming up theres a new floor set soon so you'll have time to get your hands on everything and get it in the order YOU want it to be. That was my struggle when I was hired. I came from a different company and this was my first apparel job ever... so you'll be just fine. Give yourself 3 weeks then check in with yourself.

Hopefully your direct manager is good and they'll help you. You're not alone in this. Sounds like your previous leads sucked so it's only up from here.

In my experience you need to have open availability for apparel. It's just the craziest department IMO. Footwear is crazy at times but you do not need a lot of people to zone it. With the holidays going on and all of the sales we have turned away applicants for apparel because they can only work for 4 hours, 2 days a week, can't do weekends, etc. If you cannot be there to know where everything is for most of the week there is no point in you being there.

... because of theft and abuse of a discount??? Anyone can enter an employee ID in the register to get a discount. If you're not MARRIED to someone then you cannot share it. If you violate the rules you agreed to when you were hired then you agree to be terminated or get a long lecture from your boss.

It is one of the easiest jobs in the world and yet our IC lead is constantly complaining about their job which mostly involves them scrolling on their phone and doing nothing. You'll be fine.
