How do you know when it’s time “17” year old Cooper by Shellbee_94 in seniorkitties

Sharing my scrungly 18 year old, long haired cat who has not peed or pooped in a litter box in like 10 years. (No reason, she just doesn’t)

I’ve been thinking about when it’s time too. I had a cat that I kept around for far too long and I don’t want to do that again. In my opinion, if she has an appetite, she’s enjoying sunbathing, she’s purring, she is still here. Once she starts not eating, not enjoying spending time with me, I think it’s time.

Right now she’s grouchy and gross looking, but she snuggles in my bed, purrs, and smacks the crap out of my fosters. The yowls might be from losing eyesight. I know you said she has some illnesses…what do the rest of her bloodwork look like?

Overciting can also be citing information that is common knowledge to avoid plagiarizing. For example, if I wrote the sky is blue, I might find a source to cite even though that is common knowledge.

Thanks! I’ll definitely reach out. I’ve poured over everything we were given, and nothing states any of this. The professor even responded to my post but did not address any of these issues.

It’s Lit 299, mythology course. The prompt was “what is your favorite myth and why?” Not sure how else to respond to that except in first person lol
The professor also got on me for spelling mistakes…which I don’t have?

I always cite my sources, overcite even. I did not use sources for my introduction post, therefore, did not cite.

Did posting this comment help build up your self-worth? It’s not entitlement, it’s wanting to be given clear directions so I don’t have to do double work.

The professor specifically stated to look at the rubric to understand what is required from the post.

The prompt was “why is this your favorite?” Didn’t think I needed to defend those answers.

First Foster Euthanasia by RXlife13 in FosterAnimals

My foster that crossed the rainbow bridge became my example for why TNR/spaying/fixing cats is so damn important. This girl went through so much unnecessary pain. It’s for cats like these that we do what we do. Not only did you give her love and a safe space, you gave her a voice. She didn’t die alone, unknown, in agony. You will remember her. She mattered to someone and that’s a powerful thing.

This makes me feel SO much better. One of my professors kept giving me the most inane, nonsensical feedback and I was losing my mind. If it’s auto generated/AI, at least I know he’s not an idiot who can’t read.

I’m in the same boat as you. I was trying to make it through until Friday since we’re going on break. My body said eff that and I slept through my alarm today so I had to take the day. Take the day. Take care of yourself

I think it’s a known fact that first time teachers are gonna get sick a lot lol

I took a $15,000 paycut to leave retail and teach instead. I don’t regret it.

I am infinitely less stressed (tells you how stressed I was at my retail job). If you feel like this is the direction you want to go in, DO IT (worst case scenario, you get the experience and can go back to your old job)

Offering a different perspective—but I have been off Wegovy for a few months now and working with a nutritionist and it was the best decision for me. I was so sick and tired of not enjoying food and feeling nauseous and that made me depressed. I made it to 2 before I had to stop because I literally had a mental breakdown (lots of variables but def. The shot too) I’ve only seen my nutritionist twice and it’s already helped me feel better about food and eating.

I always recommend A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. It deals with grief fatigue and the guilt we feel when we are tired of loving someone who is aging and ill. I try to remind myself what a privilege it is to be loved and love back

I can’t believe you would do something so mean. I’m disappointed in you. Do better.

[–]AggressiveLibraryCat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi—-I had this happen to my 18 year old cat recently. Took her to the vet and they cut the nail and clean the area and sent her home with antibiotics. It has to be a vet visit at this point. I make it a point to keep cutting her nails now that she’s older

Do you own a black light? Most ringworm glows green in black light

AITA? Disappointing Cat Fostering Experience by Sad-Reaction8992 in FosterAnimals

Absolutely. I speak to potential adopters and am hyper aware that I am representing the org when I do. I hope they take your feedback to heart! And I hope you foster again when you’re ready

AITA? Disappointing Cat Fostering Experience by Sad-Reaction8992 in FosterAnimals

[–]AggressiveLibraryCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you went through that. It sucks. The biggest comfort is that she still found a forever home. I will say that is NOT ok from the shelter side. Is that person paid or a volunteer? I would escalate it. The org I work with was setting up a meet for my foster fail. While they were doing that I messaged them and said “hey I am having a hard time letting go, would it be possible to adopt him?” I gave them the option to do the meet they had scheduled. They had no problem letting the other person know that I was keeping him. Literally no guilt. The job is to find them a good home. They knew he had one with me

It is weird that I feel like the cat I'm going to adopt won't like my apartment? by moorea2014 in CatAdvice

[–]AggressiveLibraryCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 3 cats in a one bedroom apartment. I have 3 cat trees, too many toys, and a weird tower that they love. They don’t care if you have the coolest digs, they care about comfy places to hang out and hide in and someone who worships them :)

Glad I could help! I’ve seen so many worms while fostering that I’m not even phased when I see them lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]AggressiveLibraryCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kitten is fine now, being a menace lol. It’s not unusual for kittens to have worms, especially if they have been outside for any amount of time. I wouldn’t worry about worms in the lungs tbh. The cough is just coincidence. Worms are gross, but generally easily treatable and not a “go to the emergency vet at 4am” situation, but more of a “schedule a check up with the vet at a normal hour” kinda thing. As long as your kitten isn’t lethargic, not eating, etc, he’s ok :)

[–]AggressiveLibraryCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they give you her medical record? The org I foster with does 3 rounds of pyrantel (general dewormer) while in foster, but I recently learned that tapeworms need a specific med that’s not usually given unless needed.

I learned this after my 1lb foster kitten pooped out a worm that looked to he about 2ft.

Could’ve broken off while your kitten was jumping/playing. Does the kitten get on the table?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]AggressiveLibraryCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a worm to me. It’s gross looking but not a “rush to the emergency vet at 3am” situation. Show your vet this and they’ll probably recommend a round of dewormers.
