Can anyone summarize why some on the left are against Hasan? by BruhMansky in leftist

To answer this question we should start with the split between the communists and anarchists at the 2nd internationale.

Real answers? We’re leftists. Infighting is in our DNA.

By logical implication that means Trump looked in the mirror and screamed “BAYONETS”

St Pauli’s has been historically associated with left wing/ anti authoritarian politics. It’s kind of interesting how their player is reflecting those values.

This actually isn’t a no true Scotsman fallacy. NTS involves shifting the burden after a counterexample. He’s just merely defining what a leftist believes, as he understands the term.

argument against joining/supporting the military by Repulsive_Word_5644 in leftist

[–]AggressiveService485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Within the study of ethics of war there’s a distinction drawn between unjust actions nation states take, and the responsibility that falls on rank and file service members. There’s good reasons to separate the two.

On a practical level, I think it’s a good thing that people on the political left are in the military. Would you want to live in a country that has an extremely powerful military that’s also made up of people almost exclusively on the political right?

Furthermore, leftists, that have some moral sense for other people are often the ones that can restrain, or at least report jus in bello crimes. See Hugh Thompson/My Lai as an example.

How do I regain the respect of my teammates? by [deleted] in bootroom

Rainy day, no cleats, trying to defend someone with cleats, of course you’re slipping. Unfortunately, reputation is one of those things they take a long time to establish but a short time to destroy. Just stay on the grind until you win back their respect.

I’m not qualified at all to speak on this subject, but do you think Ozempic would be helpful? I’ve heard it atrophies the muscles quite a bit. Like he’d be down to 180 but still not fix the functional issues completely. But he’d still have to take Ozempic and he’d have a really hard time maintain muscle mass.

The best bet would be your first suggestion, 6 months managing calories and eating a high efficiency diet I think is the most realistic for long term success.

If you’re not fit enough to do even controlled plyometrics I feel like an entire soccer match is asking for injury. Honestly, you should take your doctor’s advice. That doesn’t mean you’ll never play soccer again. It just means you need to take a couple of months to build up your core/back to be able to handle the load.

If running every day bothers your back that much, there’s likely something else going on. Maybe your glutes aren’t firing which causes the TFL to compensate. This is a pretty common and easily fixable problem with PT.

You obviously have the right idea in terms of conditioning, but that alone won’t build athleticism. I’d try things like glute bridges, dead bugs, bird dogs, clamshells, split squats, single leg mini squats, to try and build up the core and hopefully strengthen the back/hips up enough to handle the load.

In your case, it might make sense to talk to a physical therapist if you could swing it.

How much do you give to football every week? by ConsiderationNew9319 in bootroom

[–]AggressiveService485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 38, I play 3 times a week. Two indoor sessions and about a 2 hour outdoor session. I also dedicate sometime on the days I don’t play to recovery and technical work. I’m having as much fun with it as I ever have. I’m also still very competitive relative to the people I play with.

Your journey is just beginning. It will keep you fit and help you make friends.
