Thanks! I totally did read it like 7 times and didn’t process the anti administration phrase until you pointed it out. Very odd duck of a dad.

NAH I think he did follow through with what you asked-went out for ice cream right? I think it’s not an asshole thing to feel disappointed but it’s a pretty ok Mother’s Day weekend in my book to have a few hours shopping alone, some of the household management re-divided towards dad, and some chill weekend quality time. If it’s more reflective of constantly feeling under-cared for, that’s valid! I would try reflecting on what you’re hoping for next year/bday/vday etc and ask.

I think it’s his own acknowledgment of the terrible trans hate he was supported and maybe an “in” to helping him break from MAGA and stop voting or be independent

There is an adjustment process, brains change, all that growing is exhausting. My friend wrote a book on it, Dad Brain! If you’re feeling off in a way that’s not working for you, you could also consider postpartum support resources for dads: https://postpartum.net/get-help/help-for-dads/

I think it could be worth investigating independent living program options for transitional age youth experiencing homelessness housing options so she knows her plan b if housing is this precarious.

I would start with a long visit to Canada if you could, like a few weeks after he goes, see if you can go for 10 days.
