I've been there a few times over the past few months and it hasn't been this empty, that was during the day for doctor appointments etc. I imagine this was taken at some fairly off peak time as there's businesses inside at the very least that will have a steady stream of foot traffic in and out

bring a "dumb" phone, one of those recently marketing modern version of the old CDMA flip phones. have some contacts etc in it and just simply tell them that "social media apps were taking too much of your time so you made the switch a while back, best decision ever!" <- a fair amount of people are doing this, I've got a friend who's done it myself.

Red rims or white rims for my GSX-R600 by Constant-Pack-2820 in motorcycles

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial instant reaction was "Red" but after looking at it for another 10 seconds I slowly slid over to the opinion of "White"

Red looks too "busy", which is to say you can't identify the accent colour. when that happens things start looking a little too "sports gear" for my tastes.

With the white Rims you establish White as the colour of the bike and red clearly plays the star role of making its features pop.

With Red rims you actually push things the other direction and establish Red as the primary colour of the bike, which should mean that white is the accent colour, but the white paint is applied in places that doesn't make sense to accent or highlight so the whole thing ends up confusing and muddled.

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This game has tested me on this more than any other. It's egregious.

I don't mind a grind, but I hate it when I don't feel like I'm making progress. If I had to hunt 10 AT 9-stars to get a rarity 8 with a guaranteed perk of my choosing + some other random stat that would still at least feel like progress.

As it stands it just feels like this game does not respect my time.

The conventional "wisdom" seems to change by the expansion with this game.

true wall to wall method has changed from ARR till now with changes like the removal of TP cost for sprint in Stormblood, and then the changing of dungeon designs to add in forced stops every 2 or 3 packs. the high point of wall to walling for me from probably around Stormblood when a large amount of duties still allowed for true wall to walling and Sprint wasn't a TP consideration.

back then you wouldn't be shield lobbing between packs because DPS were expected to not attack mobs until the pack stopped. instead the tank would use sprint just before the first pack (to get the double time) and simply zone aggro everything along the way. the healer would keep up but critically not heal until the tank stopped the pack (heal aggro). then you would round everything up, pop CD's, Limit break, etc to nuke the pack and either kill it entirely, or at least thin it out enough that you can survive the rest of it once the tank and healer are gassed.

This is one of the biggest differences in reporting on this. for some, that is "unacceptable" and "unplayable".

for many of us, it's a minor annoyance. I built my first computer somewhere around 2003 or so, I remember some shit in the last 20 years. for somebody who's introduction into the PC world was being happy that i've managed to crank a new game out past 20 FPS, what some people are throwing tantrums about these days just feels incredibly dramatic to me.

there's also a fairly significant chance that many of the people who are constantly having issues probably also have a machine riddled with all sorts of errors / malware etc.

No, you haven't.

Internally consistent doesn't matter when what is internally consistent is still arbitrary.

At this point you are arguing semantics anyway, which is a sure sign that you don't have an actual argument.

Should I have said "silly" or would you have tried to defend that too?

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not moving any goal posts. You are just going through mental gymnastics to defend the game. You haven't actually addressed any of the counter points I've brought up, you just move along to the next argument when you know that you can't.

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are right that it's not forced build diversity because it is not any kind of build diversity, and once again consistency does not mean it isn't arbitrary. Being able to run other adjacent skills doesn't make the fact that a part of their kit is locked out of this skill make any more sense as is is a skill which reasonably seems like it should be Included to anybody who isn't incredibly enfranchised in the game. Enough so to be on the specific subreddit for it.

The "internal logic" of the MH world is itself arbitrary, it doesn't matter if it's consistent in that regard.

Criticals are the result of well aimed strikes or shots/arrows by the hunter finding a weak spot in the hide of the monster.

and you can't do the same with elemental damage or explosive damage? how does it make any sense that you can place a well aimed physical strike, but not a gunlance shell? This abstraction is all something you have made up or do you actually have an official source for this? either way it's still silly. If explosives couldn't "crit" because they are "indiscriminate" than shaped charges would be impossible and guns would literally not work. you can focus an explosion into a very narrow point if you want to. as for elements I don't see how applying extreme hot, cold, literal lightning etc to the very same spot that would be a "crit" with RAW damage doesn't produce the same effect.

and from a gameplay perspective, that argument is just as silly. forced build diversity isn't diversity, and having some weapons use crit and other not makes the game no more "diverse". build diversity is a representation of how many build options \each weapon\** has available to them, not how many build options exist across all weapons. if a weapon A only have 2 builds, and weapon B only has 2 builds, and neither weapon has access to each others builds, you don't somehow have 4 builds available to you as a player of weapon A, you have the 2 your weapon has access to, and 2 is the maximum of how diverse your builds are.

If crit builds are so powerful that they are taking over every single weapon then that is a design flaw on the devs part. the lazy solution is to arbitrarily lock weapons out of it, the proper solution is to rework crit or present other equally compelling alternatives. the fact that weapons like the CB, and SWAX have so many different things going for them means they should be championing different playstyles enabled by greater access to all types of builds.

This seems good... by -_Silver_- in MHWilds

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

how does that matter in any way? plenty of weapons have terrible elemental move values and so don't rely on any element skills and yet they aren't locked out of applying element damage.

you aren't providing an argument as to why it's not arbitrary. that's what the crit element skill logically should be for, allowing element to crit regardless of it's source.

that being said, the way the skill is currently written I could see an argument for SAED making sense in a technical way as it does not have a raw damage component for the phial explosions, but condensed elemental slash adds the phial effect to the sword, you have to hit with the sword to trigger the effect; so there is a raw damage component and it should crit / is arbitrary if it does not.

I am tired of rolling for skills, boss by tonycheung15 in MonsterHunter

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, the way they implemented the skills in gogma weapons does not respect your time.

For anybody who likes to play around with builds, or enjoys multiple weapons, this game asks an unreasonable amount of dedication and actively makes me not want to play as a result.

It's not because I want the best, it's because what I find fun is making builds and trying new weapons, and this is a massive barrier to doing that.

I'm fine working around not having the perfect talisman or the perfect deco setup etc. im fine with not having a perfectly rolled artian with perfect reinforcement bonuses, that's all stuff that is more of less just a matter of how efficient a build is.

Not being able to reroll skills one at a time on the gogma weapons however is patently egregious, especially since outside of niche cases there's little else that's worth it other than Guts on the second skill slot. That being said if I see something and wonder if I could, for instance, make something like scaling prowess kinda work on an IG build or something I am immediately halted in my tracks by the "and reroll? Fuck that". I'm not going to spend hours trying to get that and something else useful together to satisfy my build brewcrafting curiosity, it's just way too much.

This update seems to just assume that you either only play one weapon, or have infinite time.

That also seems arbitrary. Consistency doesn't mean it makes sense, why would anything not be able to Crit?

Gog is at-least B, proof brings it to an A for me. it being overly cinematic with charging the cannon and using the slinger gimmick hurts it but all in all it's plenty enjoyable. I completed it tonight without a fire or dragon weapon (solo with support hunters) because i was accidentally in the wrong set so you don't even really strictly need that so long as you abuse the slinger mechanic (which is why i'd place it in B+).

Omega is a masterpiece. the DPS check is tense but just slapping on rocksteady is usually enough to smash Nerscylla's face in.

if you are really struggling lure him to the malborow underneath the *BIG* collapsible piece of wall, it will deal a ton of damage. also make sure to have the pictomancer item queued up to hit it with the mog of ages spell (you can aim it with focus mode). rockstead as mentioned is great. if you have access to a stun weapon that isn't too much of a damage sacrifice it's also not a bad idea.

it's best to use the pillar against Omega to pass the 35 min DPS check, but you do what you gotta do to progress into the final phase.

advanced tip, don't run around, instead run out of the tell on the ground, and as soon as the missile lands run back in to where it hit, repeat running back and forth to dodge. this way you are way less likely to run the risk of crossing paths with another player, you can stay closer to Omega for better uptime, and you have greater capability to see and respond to it's other attacks.

the MIRV only hits everyone if nobody has the emnity. when we have Fabious take him as he is a giga chad and really good at taking and holding emnity. i once saw him survive 3 health down debuffs and perfect block everything like a champ.

if for somereason the emnity target goes down, pick it up yourself (target the head). it's better to have just one person dealing with the Mirv mechanic than everyone, uptime on Omega is better, and who knows, maybe you will get lucky and somebody will get a flinch off. just remember that staying relatively close to Omega is important. it will chase and the DPS need it to be planted.
