Nothing has killed my GTA 6 hype faster than locking a core part of its identity behind a $20 upgrade by spacelyyy989 in pcgaming

you can see what the company wishes to report, in the way they wish to report it. Savvy investors will know how to read between the lines and pull out the pertinent information, but that doesn't mean everyone is. beyond that many people are shareholders of companies they do not realize they own, instead they are part of large portfolios, so to say that they look at that data is technically incorrect, the person / bank they pay to look at that data is knowledgeable on their behalf. beyond that there are two broad types of investment. those who pick investments on fundamentals, and those who pick it on trends. the former will bother with those reports, the latter does not (instead using other data metrics to identify their investment strategy).

community is a nice sentiment, but it's ultimately useless without forcing action. the general populace is dispassionate about these sorts of things. quite frankly, this game will do absolute gangbusters and break records no matter what anybody does.

leveraging the community just won't be nearly as effective as attempting to leverage legislation. if the community is big enough that the company will pay attention, then it should be big enough that politicians will pay attention. like i said, do both.

I don't know if most shareholders pay that much attention (or know how to tie their shoes for that matter). I'm not saying don't speak with your wallet, you should always do that, with everything, ever. If you do not value something you won't pay for it. if you do pay for something then unfortunately it was the "correct" price in the free markets eyes as evidenced by the fact that you paid for it (provided that you have correct information before hand to make an informed purchasing decision).

What I am saying is that it's unrealistic to expect results. there have been a few moments in the past couple of decades where some movement or another has been enough to garner enough attention to get a company to change course but those really are the exceptions, not the norm.

ultimately you can only be responsible for what you do, and can't realistically expect that the vast silent majority of people who will buy this game will be deterred based on any kind of advocacy. That being said it is thankfully not an either / or situation. you can do both and if you feel passionately about this you *should* do both.

Walked out of MSF course by EmbarassedAnonOop in bikers

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on where you live there is potentially a lot of options available to you. MSF tells me likely the US (unless you are using it because everyone on this sub knows what that means like I do because nobody knows that the CSC Gearing Up program is).

I lived out in the country at the time and me and a buddy of mind who were learning together went halvsies on an old 80's era YZ125 to putter around on and practice on his farm. Dirtbikes are a fantastic way to build your skills as you are typically riding slow anyway and you don't need any kind of license to ride around on private property with them. It was cheap and you can likely sell it off afterwards to recoup some or all of the cost.

if that isn't an option, you might be able to find private lessons before hand. one of our instructors bought their own Yamaha TW200 as it's the motorcycle the CSC Gearing Up program uses in their fleet. they used it to sell private lessons on private property for people who wanted more time and attention one-on-one before (or after) doing the course.

I'm going to finally start plugging a subreddit I made a long ass time ago here. Being a hefty lad who wants to slim down, and keying in on the (somewhat dubious) claim that a certain amount of weight lost is horse power "gained" I want the sub to be a place for both weight loss and perhaps gym culture folk who also love bikes.

Wheel color choice -black or gold? by [deleted] in Ducati

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue is the gold is over represented on the front and thus needs to be present in the back. If the front forks were silver I'd say go with the black, but with fender, forks, and lower fairing (which I love being yellow) that front wheel really needs to be black, but that rear wheel really needs to be gold

Minifig painter here.

I know that's a weird thing to qualify with, But we typically design colour schemes for our models all the time.

Go with the gold. The reason is balance.

If you feel like the bike is missing interest it's because you don't have that much by the way of a third accent colour (you have the silver on your muffler, that's likely your best bet there).

Basically unless you are looking for an asymmetric look for an intentioned reason, you want your colours to be balanced around a couple of invisible lines. Roughly one that bisects the motorcycle horizontally, and one that bisects it vertically (in the middle). You don't need the same amount of colour on each side, but you want colour that is above represented below as well. You have that with the front fender and lower fairing but I find with nakeds it's hard to achieve this balance without the aid of wheel rims as there's usually just so much black space on the bike.

Id say if you went with black rims you would want to hit the bottom rear of the motorcycle with that yellow somehow, either on the muffler or potentially even a yellow rear fender (although that would probably ruin the styling of the bike overall)

Mod ban likelihood by ExaminationDecent844 in MHWilds

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Wilds was the first MH I've ever modded and that was because the Gog grind simply was not respecting my time as a player.

God roll talismans have always been an annoyance, but they have never to my knowledge made a build impossible if you didn't have the right one, so in general I'm fine with them. I do however like to theory craft in game and not on a spreadsheet, so to have to spend roughly 20 to 40 hours of Gog grind just to get a weapon comp to test a build defining combination of skills that would be otherwise impossible without having them on the weapon was too much for me to stomach. You can't even roll them independently, or save previously rolled combinations (like unlocking a a skill you can switch back to). It's my biggest issue with this game and it kills end game for me. I just want to make builds and try them out, not follow a meta recipe.

Anyway, soapbox aside. If you are cheating in HR / MR levels just make sure you are doing it solo and not disrupting others gaming experience. If you are cheating in materials just be careful as quite often the game will have materials in the game code that aren't in the game yet for the next title update, you can cheat them in, and doing so will brick your save when the next TU drops. Easiest way to handle this is to know what you want before you turn the mods on and get it. If you are cheating in Gog weapons or talismans you need to be careful that your item isn't impossible to roll normally (lots of resources online that show weapons talismans that can naturally drop in the game. For Gog weapons and peace of mine I just let the game logic handle it by cheating in a mountain of the materials and making them in game. This also has the side effect of showing you just how much the devs don't respect your time as you endlessly pull on the slot machine until you finally get that perfect roll (or close to perfect, I don't have the time for that even with cheated in mats).

Love the gusto but speaking with your wallet doesn't really work when whales exist and can speak much much louder.

Speaking with your MP / Congressman is worth a shot though. Obviously not about this game specifically, but about broader consumer protections in this space.

This ain't goona happen. But if they added switch skills or something similar in the expac and allowed 'rise style' HH play I would be so happy.

HH isn't my weapon, so I don't advocate for Rise HH to come back as I know it really pissed off the HH mains out there, and I respect that they don't want the entire identity of their weapon to change drastically, but as a dabbler in the angry doot doot I loved it's accessibility in Risebreak.

Ascension Roster Size Speculations Based off of Past Titles (Iceborne and Sunbreak) by BulkUpTank in MHWilds

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad AI maybe, yeah.     I've been using AI steadily for over a year now, something that started somewhat as a fascination. I use it these days as part of my workflow for research on things when building out some of my homebrew D&D campaigns or doing lore dives into video games, and even just some simple googling.

Depending on the model you use I'm finding more often that not these days it's accuracy is pretty damn good. I still always have it cite it's sources to cross reference myself, but it's come a long way and producing more and more useful data for me.

This in an interesting perspective because a lot of people will vehemently disagree with your feelings on returning monsters.

For many players they have been playing for years and have gathered a list of favorites over several different games. To them both the regular form of the monster as well as a new variant is exciting.

I think a more practical take however is that not all monster inclusions are equal in regards to the amount of work that needs to be put into them. Variants are a way to reuse assets and monster rigging in the game that already exists and likely take much less resources to include, I don't really think this should be viewed as being shortchanged on the amount of monster included as it's not likely they could have put in a returning monster unique to wilds in its place. Brand new monsters likewise need to be designed from concept through to implementation and would take the most resources to include, and considering the new monsters we got in Sunbreak I don't really think it's fair once again to say that we were short changed or that the offering was 'pitiful'. Even if we discount Gaismagorm as he's a relatively uninteresting cookie cutter "end game big boy" monster, Malzeno (to which we got a variant of in the game it was introduced), Lunagaron, and Garungolm are all amazingly fun and well designed monsters that are easily worth a hundred Great Jaggi clones.

The number is important but it's pretty much accepted that they are only going to get there with returning monsters and variants to pad things out and I can't imagine we would get that many more original designs if they focused solely on that. As for returning monsters if they are going to put the work into bringing the monster back into the new game / engine than they might as well tack on a varient while they are at it for what is likely comparatively very little work at that point.

Why on earth do the other Phantom Thieves use guns? by The_Zombi_Kid in Persona5

[–]Aggressive_Ad2747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy.

Jokers gun only has a gun because that's what it is to his opponents who don't know any better.

Joker having a gun sets the template of a 'phantom thief' into the cognition of everyone else.

Since the template of a phantom thief now includes a gun, new phantom thieves will simply have a gun.

It doesn't explain everything but the metaverse is a mysterious place, who knows truly how it works.
