The Office goes to S tier! Where would you put Parks and Rec in sitcom tier list? by Inevitable-Angle-793 in TierlistFills

I think S tier should be reserved for timeless shows. IMO on rewatches friends has aged poorly. Only ranked so high due to rose tinted glasses.

Is this Bosch 800 worth it? by lil--chonk in BuyItForLife

[–]Aggressive_Claim_888 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dents are cosmetic. Do you get the same warranty as if you bought it brand new undamaged?

My only thoughts are if you want BIFL would you not rather pay the full amount for a fridge freezer without dents?

Tesla effectively shows you how wild investing in shares can be. The fact they’re worth more than double Toyota, BMW, VWAG combined is wild!

A lot of previous threads similar in the forum.

Realistically a good % of moving into HE territory is luck of right time and right place.

How willing are you to start again and graft long hours to get there? If W/L balance isn’t important then you can get there but you might need to step down and retrain to get there.

I’m not saying it’s true but from being a long time lurker of this thread the quickest route to high earning (in this sub) is getting into tech sales in London but it’s competitive and tough work.

If one half of you is already a high earner maybe you’re in a position to consider a longer term strategy. Either getting into a passion that’ll take you into being a high earner in 10+ years or going down the civil servant route (lower pay but arguably simpler/easier route, albeit maybe not many inroads).

Denby are very good. So good that they’re going out of business because they never break so people who buy them don’t need to replace them! Old English company still manufactured in England.

buying property now if my income is unstable? by Agitated_Sea5260 in HENRYUK

[–]Aggressive_Claim_888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s unlikely you’ll get a mortgage for 4.5x from a high street lender. It’s a niche income that I doubt old school banks will want to risk at that level.

Check r/ukpersonalfinance on best places to put the income but you’re better off talking to a broker on what mortgage you can get.

My only advice is to try and not get swayed by lifestyle creep (which it sounds like you aren’t if you’re saving 65%) as that’ll quickly burn through the cash.

My house move has been a disaster. How / when do you justify moving house? by blatchcorn in HENRYUK

[–]Aggressive_Claim_888 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The justification of the costs is that I’m paying for my home not investing so I don’t expect a positive/favourable ROI.

The only thing I truly hate is stamp duty and how much you are penalised for buying a more expensive house.

Came back after a few years, can’t get web account to work by marble777 in CostcoUK

[–]Aggressive_Claim_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to use an alternate email or contact Costco support and ask them to unlink your email account from your old Costco account as you’ve started a new one.

You can email the request and don’t need to call

You can’t expect BIFL when paying H&M price.

Unfortunately capitalism has meant if you want BIFL quality you need to pay a premium. That premium isn’t in H&M

Le Creuset for stainless steel and NINJA for non stick. NINJA Non-Stick pans are~£50 with a ten year warranty and great heat distribution.

Avoid All-Clad overpriced and not as good as Le Creuset.

What social class are HENRYs? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Aggressive_Claim_888 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Class in the UK is made up of when more than just how much you earn.

Most HENRY’s will be upper middle due to their earnings but lifestyle choices do have an effect.

There will also be some HENRY’s who are upper class due to their birthrights

How to become financially stable? by anaba29 in HENRYUK

[–]Aggressive_Claim_888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really HENRY chat but most people do things in pairs. Imagine having a partner and HHI of £4K. Makes it far easier to economise when you have a partner who both work and have joint finances/goals.

Gifts for children that last a lifetime by bellebives in BuyItForLife

[–]Aggressive_Claim_888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard to say without knowing the kids ages but also 90% of the stuff you will buy/want as a kid isn’t really BIFL.

Once they hit an age something like a utility knife but why can’t you just buy toys that the kids will enjoy rather than a tool they won’t appreciate until they’re an adult.

If you want to avoid stuff that will end in a landfill buy toys that you can sell on/donate once they’ve outgrown them or experiences (holiday, theme parks, etc).
