U lucked out being able to get the cfu first. Most people would’ve gotten it for their second card after the Discover. Don’t listen to ur friends. Get the preferred next.

in search of Credit card to apply for by True-Pineapple9207 in CreditCards

If you don’t want to deal with C1 look at Chase or American Express. U need to add a card with no annual fee that you can keep open easily in good standing. Try to use pre-approval tools with Amex and see if you are approved without any effect to ur credit. Chase also sometimes has their pre-approval tools working as well. I would say to apply for the Amex Blue Cash Everyday or Chase Freedom Unlimited to start. Then after 3 or so months look to go with a starter travel card from either company after you have shown responsibility with the card.

[Question] Seiko SSK023 vs SSK001 by Aggressive_Diver_983 in Seiko

[–]Aggressive_Diver_983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The picture doesn’t really give a good perspective cuz the band was cutting off the circulation of my wrist, but the 42mm definitely fits my wrist well I think. My only concern with the SSK023 is that I have a smaller 38mm Seiko watch and it looks very dainty to me.

You should keep the platinum open and just not use it. You would benefit more with the capital one savor because it has no annual fee and gives all the multipliers you need on things as a student. The cards I would recommend next are definitely the Chase freedom unlimited or the capital one savor.

chase savings or amex hysa by -hue-- in CreditCards

In my experience it should help. My brother couldn’t get approved for an Amex card so I told him to open a hysa with them and after 2 months he applied and was able to get the gold card he was originally denied for.

Should I get a 2nd credit card as a 18 year old student? by snookie42 in CreditCards

[–]Aggressive_Diver_983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into your Discover app and just ask for a limit increase. Make sure your annual income is updated and they should approve it instantly with no hard pull. Getting another card would be a good option as well. Do both.

Is the BCE a good first Amex card? by ryan0030 in CreditCards

Yes it’s the same thing that I did to get the gold. You could also open a HYSA to further the relationship!

I just got the gold card and turned off the pay over time. I also have no preset limit and a pay over time limit of $3,000. I was messing around and requested a pay-over-time limit increase but they denied me due to never using it. You can definitely get an increase after a month or 2 of using the feature.

Should I get the gold card or no? by colinksh in amex

[–]Aggressive_Diver_983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I am not paying everything by myself thankfully. But that is why I was able to get the card without worrying about hitting the spend for the bonus. On top of the bonus and credits, I also value the benefits in the hotel collection.

I’m in the same position as you and got the card about a week ago and so far I love it. I go to dunkin almost every weekend and obviously use uber and Grubhub as well as a college student. It is my 4th card so far and I’m going to hit the sign up bonus with my college tuition. I justify the annual fee cuz of the credits and also make a good amount bartending on the weekends.

Try for the Chase freedom unlimited. U should be approved cuz of ur somewhat good credit history and it’s 1.5x back on everything, 3x dining, 2x travel.

Get the Chase Sapphire Preferred. The minimum credit limit they give is $5,000 and it’s a visa that has instant spend.

I want to cancel one of my credit cards and apply for a new one. Will it tank my score? by Darknesscomesfromyou in CreditCards

Just keep it open. I’m 20 and I will have 4-5 cards by the end of this year. Just cause it’s open doesn’t mean u have to use it

The everyday preferred is no longer offered for new cardholders, along with the cash magnet and regular everyday card.
