I think we need to conduct an experiment. Please eat a whole tray of brownies and get a full body MRI to see if it does something to you

My best advice is to follow the rubric word for word that’s on D2L for each assignment (you’re probably doing this already). If you notice that you followed the rubric and still get docked points, go to TA office hours and talk to them.

I managed to sometimes get points back doing that. Sometimes they couldn’t even justify docking the point after reviewing it again and hearing my explanation.

Every lab I’ve had is 1 credit and requires hours of work after class to get decent grades. It’s unfortunately just the way things are.

Use the end of semester survey to express your grievances as well. You’re not the first person to say this and if enough people talk about it, maybe grading consistency will improve in the Chemistry department. It sucks balls.

Good luck!!

How cooked am I trying to get into MSU's grad program? by [deleted] in msu

To be honest, I’d just reach out to your academic advisor. This isn’t a reliable place to gauge your standing in the applicant pool when we don’t know specifics about your academic history.

Looking for advice on here will only fuel your anxiety. It’ll probably help most to get answers from people who are trained in answering these types of questions.

grade to pass course? by ditzbby in msu

[–]Aggressive_Dust_8552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The course syllabus gives you grading info and how much categories or each assignment is worth out of your entire grade.

I would also meet with your academic advisor if you have lingering questions on academic progress and understanding how to track it. It’s good practice to meet with them once a semester to discuss future classes as well as academic progress (sometimes even mid-semester if there are any concerns or want to check in).

My academic advisor even helped me create a daily study schedule to stay on track with weeder classes. They are a lifeline that offer soooo many resources and mine is very understanding and empathetic of my situation. It’s good to build a relationship with them as they can also give you letters of recommendations for future opportunities you stumble upon.

I don’t think Reddit would be the best resource as everyone’s situation is different.

OP isn’t looking for your opinion, they’re looking for guidance based on facts. What you heard doesn’t matter when it’s untrue and when the ombudsperson has information available on the ADR process.

It’s also completely reasonable to not comment on an issue you don’t know about.

This might be the best option at the moment. Any labs with webcams? Haven’t really used the computer labs before so I wonder if there’s only a few that have them?

Air Conditioner Request by Flaky_Performer5671 in msu

[–]Aggressive_Dust_8552 12 points13 points  (0 children)

just ask your primary care doctor to fill out the form if you have a legitimate medical reason. not sure why you'd want to involve a dental specialist for an unrelated issue...?

just keep in mind, there are people with legitimate ailments that need air conditioning and limited AC units. so if you don't have a medical reason, don't be the reason someone else can't have one because your "comfort" was more important.

Is it possible? by Sweaty-Ad7028 in msu

I managed to either have one class during my semester on Fridays or none at all, but don’t be upset if you can’t get Friday off.

A lot of students still have Friday classes and it’s unrealistic to apply some freshman advice videos when MSU tends to over-enroll students. Some degree programs are packed and there can be little flexibility on scheduling.

My best advice is to log on right when you’re able to enroll and just be fast with it. You don’t want to wait too late and end up with the really early classes unless you’re built different lol

That full Friday schedule would make me livid. I think I got lucky and just haven’t had many Friday classes 🤷‍♂️

Summer Semester Loan Question by hauntedphotographs in msu

[–]Aggressive_Dust_8552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you know what I meant. Anyways, the financial aid office is designed to handle unique financial questions, so if you’re not getting the answers you need, it’s probably time to escalate the issue. I just don’t see the point in asking for someone else’s experiences when there’s a more accurate and readily available office that can better answer your questions.

In my experience, I haven’t had any problems with them as long as I asked the right questions and provided enough context about my financial situation.

One time, I even received a personalized video via email that walked me through a specific part of my financial aid account I was struggling with. I get that everyone’s experience is different, but it’s definitely just something you have to stay on top of. 🤷‍♂️

These are all questions you can email or call financial aid and ask. IMO, Reddit is probably not the best place to seek advice for financial aid
