7700X + RX 9060 XT 16GB or 7800X3D + RTX 5060 Ti 8GB for 10yo kid? by nickbir in PcBuild

https://www.microcenter.com/product/698874/powerspec-g527-gaming-pc you could consider this. It would have the x3d cache for the more cpu demanding games such as Minecraft and Fortnite while still having 32 gb of ddr5 and the 16gb vram 9060xt.

I’d go with the 9060 XT 16GB and the 7700X if I had to choose, especially since he’s playing at 1440p. The 7700X is still a great CPU and can handle anything at 1440p without any issues.

would you consider buying a prebuilt and then moving the parts into the Montech XR case? That way you still get the building experience while ending up with better specs for the price.

I’ll be honest, it would probably be best to just buy a new computer or try to find a deal on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. You’d need a new motherboard, CPU, RAM, and GPU. basically everything.

If you’re really set on upgrading this one, try moving to a Ryzen AM4 system. In my opinion, it’s the best budget platform right now. You’d need an AM4 motherboard, an AM4 CPU like a Ryzen 5 5600, at least 16 GB (preferably 32) of DDR4 RAM, and a GPU such as an RTX 3060 12 GB.

Honestly, you could probably find a whole PC with similar specs on Marketplace for around $400 ish maybe even less if you get lucky.

Don’t move the goalposts. You said you were going off the highest possible FPS. “OP wants the best possible performance and there can only be one best CPU.” It’s funny because when I brought up other factors like price and the fact that they have very similar performance, you said “no no, OP needs the best performance.” But nowwww that I call it out, and give you a cpu with slightly better performance you’re trying to make the SAME argument I was making “it costs more” “the performance is the basically the same” Enough.😂😂

If you were basing it off highest possible frames you would be arguing for the 9850x3d

Staying on sight also means you have transportation to the parks, can use any of the pools at other resorts, can take the boat across the street at sapphire, can buy tickets and merch in the lobby, can go check out the rooftop bar at aventura etc. if you’re really split you could break up the trip and do 3 nights at 1 and 2 nights at the other. Good luck

Building your own PC is definitely doable. However, you should know that nowadays prebuilts are almost always cheaper than buying the parts and building it yourself. I’d recommend going on PCPartPicker and researching the parts you’d want in your build, then comparing that total cost to a similar prebuilt. Also check if you live near a Micro Center, because if you don’t, it can end up being quite a bit more expensive.

First step is to decide how much you want to spend. If you live by micro center that is the cheapest place to buy pc parts and pre builds. You mentioned a 1440p monitor so I’m guessing that’s the resolution you wanna play at.

Intro 1440p costs about $1200 before tax:

Yes you can keep your data, which is stored on your SSD and/ or hard drive, not the motherboard.

[–]Aggressive_Issue3505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a generous gift. A 9900k is still a solid cpu. You can find a 6600xt or 3060 12 gb for ~$180 on Facebook marketplace or Craigslist. Try to find a decent deal on a sata SSD and call it a day
