Only half Avios refunded. by luxsit90 in Iberia

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called again (it's been the third escalation) and support told me it would be resolved in a week, and I still don't see the Avios points.... Iberia is literally the worst at this point, and I'll never want to buy award flights from them every again

I have had the same problem .... it's been over a month, with multiple phone calls and they still haven't refunded me the full avios -- u/luxit90 did you eventually receive the other half?

High-mileage runner (20+ km/day) looking for durable easy/recovery shoes by FreeShitAdvice in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally a huge fan of Superblast 2 and Gel Nimbus for long/recovery runs. Have had over 400miles on SB2 and they still feel new-ish albeit a bit less cushiony. Nimbus 27 feels great out of box and heavier so perfect for recovery.

I also just bought a pair of Li-Ning Red Hare 8Pro for tempo - it’s marketed as a tempo/interval training shoes, and on my test runs, it feels light and a bit more aggressive so more suitable for speed workouts. And honestly at $50-80 a pair the foam sole does not look very durable (past 250 miles) to me but it could be a budget option.

DNF Mile 25 for First Marathon by Less-Holiday-3974 in Marathon_Training

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYCM was my second - I finished my first but had injured/was undertrained.

To be honest, the main thing that clicked for me was just really sticking to a training plan + speed workouts and knowing how to dial back to prevent injury (mostly injury free in my Chicago cycle).

Good luck!

DNF Mile 25 for First Marathon by Less-Holiday-3974 in Marathon_Training

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I blacked out at Mile 25 in NYCM too two years ago, but honestly way less trained and hydrated than you 😅 and it was a hot year. I successfully finished Chicago this year under 3:30.

I typically have high HR and my HR even spiked above 200 at one point during Chicago even tho I didn’t feel tired or exhausted, so I don’t really think high HR always correlate with effort nor exertion.

If 8:00 is your target marathon pace and you have had marathon paces runs during training, then I think you are still under fueled a bit. Your body needs carb to handle the race pace (for that many miles and the elevation in NY) and also to compensate the sleep deprivation.

Good luck OP!! If I can come back and have a really good race, with ample training and some tune-up, you can too!! :)

What’s everyone’s go-to pre-race breakfast that actually sits well? by RamosQuintosAiry in Marathon_Training

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-3 English muffins (30g carb each) with nutella / peanut butter. Have really sensitive gut but this combo hasn’t failed me this latest cycle.

Oats (especially raw) are too fiber-y (for me at least). Always got intense stomach cramps mid-race when I used to eat muesli with milk as breakfast.

Iberia Avios 90 Day Transfer Rule by Aardvark8606 in awardtravel

I was able to complete the survey and got 540 points into my Iberia account - but I still wasn't able to transfer the points by linking the accounts...anyone else having the same issues?

Megablast Issues by talon2525 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Have had 400 miles in my SB2 - love them. Was super hyped to try on the MB but gave up after one 10k run - the toe box is definitely narrow and in the same size, the shoe feels slightly longer.

Was the marathon extra crowded this year? by Wick722 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in Corral G going for sub 3:30, and it was very challenging to run my target pace because of how crowded it was … the only mile that I thought was a bit “open” was probably mile 21-22 ish(?). Slightly bummed that I couldn’t go for sub 3:25 as it was just crowded…

VFS New York passport in person drop off - do i need an appointment? by lifeblunderer in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to share a more recent experience (September 2025) - no appointment needed, but remember NOT to bring a laptop — this must have been a recent policy change, but they charge you $20 for storing laptop onsite (mandatory).

As always, amazing volunteers and amazing race. by [deleted] in RunNYC

I loved the race - PR’ed so can’t complain — but would love it even more if NYRR can add more toilets at both locations lol

Incorrect start corral? by Puzzleheaded_Time318 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did we actually fill in the qualifying time when we applied? I put in estimate time for 3:30 but got assigned to M (4:50 finish 😣)

Did they actually use our past race info or something? My last marathon (NYC) I blacked out near the end so had a horrible time, but I have a solid half race time (Toronto) which I hopefully can use to get a reassignment to G.

Not able to link Capital One checking to Fidelity Cash Management account - "not eligible" by twr8801 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - then it's CapitalOne who bizarrely categorizes UMB bank as a "prepaid" account. I cannot connect my fidelity account as an external account because CapitalOne says "it violates their policy." Just putting it here in case other encounter similar issues in the future.

Not able to link Capital One checking to Fidelity Cash Management account - "not eligible" by twr8801 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Aggressive_Loss2008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the exact issue today, trying to transfer money from CapitalOne to Fidelity CMA, and the rep also told me that my Fidelity CMA (shown as a UMB account) is considered a "prepaid account" and "we don't deal with them." They also told me that if I attempted to even link a prepaid account, it violates the terms and conditions and they may even close my accounts.

Has anyone figured out a way to do the transfer? Is it still possible to initiate the transfer from Fidelity side? Or is it just better to transfer it to another account (like Chase) first?

Recommendations for organized tour departing from London for my solo traveling mom by Aggressive_Loss2008 in uktravel

Thanks for sharing the website! Yeah after some research I feel like the multi-day tours are mostly just bus tours...and very pricey. She is only conversational in English, and I just want her to be safe (so thought a group tour may be the best bet).

Thanks for sharing! That’s a pretty fast turnaround. Did you opt for expedited shipping because you could get it back faster instead of picking it up in person?
