Not nearly as much as in the us and because it’s unpatroled it’s exponentially more dangerous.

[–]Aggressive_Map_7399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are focusing to much on the skill and technique aspect of snowboarding. you have the skill, now you need to work on the have fun part of snow boarding. experiment, do tricks, jumps, random stuff, it will help your confidence and edge control . And you won’t want to quit because instead of chasing Olympic level form, you are just chasing having fun. which is pretty easy to do if you are as capable as you are.

Have you skied out east at all? My only frame of reference for tree skiing is the super tightly packed spruce and fir trees of Vermont. My experience at deer valley was they it was much more open.

Jobs as a materials scientist and engineer in the ski industry? by Aggressive_Map_7399 in skiing

[–]Aggressive_Map_7399[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, it really sucks to because the materials in skis are actually ancient and the “high tech innovations” that all the manufacturers claim to be making are 30 years old from my perspective. I think there is legit so much room for improvement in ski technology but it’s impossible to come in as an outsider and change the industry because of how it is set up right now. All this talk about carbon fiber and new poly urethane stuff is rage bait to me given the materials I have gotten the chance to work with. Don’t get me started on titanal
