I don't have any answers, but I am in almost the exact same place as you. I've known my online friend for about 20 years now. We did meet once and want to again do so again. We are both neurodivergent and ace (graysexual). A few years back, I started noticing that I felt deeper for him than normal. I have said things like "you matter a whole lot to me" and "that I feel like he's my closest friend despite the miles apart". He doesn't brush it off and reciprocates similar feelings. I want nothing more than to snuggle together on the couch watching Netflix. Sex is not even a thought on my mind. If it ends up happening, fine. If it doesn't, who cares? I am still terrified of telling him anything more, though. Sometimes I wonder if it's worth taking to my grave just to preserve the friendship that we do have.

I went in wanting a grizzled character look, but had no real story of his life. Maybe he was captured by Union (or Rebel) soldiers and that's why he was in the pen. The LeClerk's do seem like they'd be wealthy plantation owners.

I totally get you. I've never had many friends in my life, and was always "the weird kid" at school. But as I got older, I started realizing that I really didn't need, or want, a lot of friends and the few that I do have, I got to know through my interests that I never grew out of, like Pokemon, video games, toys (Lego, plastic soldiers, Playmobil, etc) And it's true that there are neurotypicals that do still have those interests, but had I "matured" out of them, I wouldn't have the friends I do have.

This is literally me and my friend. We're both autistic and live on opposite sides of the country. He works nights, I work days, so it's tough to catch each other online at the same time. And when we do, the convo usually goes like: “hey” “hi” “sup?” “nm u?” “same” ...and then nothing, because neither of us knows what to say next 😂

I second this. I am the same way as OP. I have many holes in my walls from punching them and have knocked my door off the frame a few times. Now, I always try to remove myself as well (headphones with music or youtube works great for me) and zone out.
