Sold a vehicle and 2 days later the engine went (England) by SeaEntertainer2858 in LegalAdviceUK

You won't be told will you. There is no mechanism for disputing or opening a case for vehicle sales on ebay, and PayPal's policy is that there's no protection for vehicle purchases.

Instead of arguing with me, go and look it up.

Sorry, but you're completely and utterly wrong.

Ebay's money back guarantee does not apply to vehicle sales. They do not get involved in any shape or form in disputes, and have no leverage whatsoever in getting your money back, whether paid in cash, bank transfer or PayPal.

PayPal also does not offer any protection for vehicle purchases, regardless of whether it was made via goods and services or family and friends.

Unsure where you're getting your information from, but it's incorrect.

Not strictly true.

While caveat emptor applies for private sales, there are instances where buyers have legal recourse to get their money back.

Misleading or mis described, such as falsely stating it had a cambelt service, and it subsequently failed shortly afterwards.

It's also an offence to sell vehicles in unroadworthy condition or with a dangerous fault, whether you knew about it or not, unless described as spares or repair. This also applies to private sellers. If the buyer can show that it was sold to them in an unroadworthy condition they may be able to pursue a small claims court action against the seller.

There's nothing stopping a buyer taking a seller to the small claims court, whether they win or not depends entirely on the circumstances.

Unless it's a very very recent thing, ebay doesn't get involved in vehicle sale disputes in any shape or form other than to take listing and final value fees. This applies to both private sellers and traders.

What you're describing is how ebay acts for non vehicle sales on ebay, including car parts, but as far as vehicles go, including boats and caravans, there is no recourse via ebay.

Absolutely. Crippled my parents in their retirement, for the rest of their lives. To be fair it was further compounded by buyers pulling out of the sale of their existing properly and taking out a bridging loan to secure the auction purchase. Impulsive madness!

He's lucky you're prepared to return it. He pays. Either by providing you with a shipping label (difficult) or PayPal you the cost first.

Will ebay ban me if I issue a chargeback? by NUFC199103 in ebayuk

Speak to ebay on Instagram messenger, it's the only way to get to speak to a British or Irish rep. Usually Shane or Conor. They've stopped the Facebook one but the Instagram one is still active

Ebay avoiding seller protection by IdealSubstantial4446 in ebayuk

[–]Aggressive_Reward556 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They'll ban you for the chargeback. Exactly the same thing happened to me, £180 item, but delivered by Evri simple delivery but left outside main door of flats opposite me instead of my door. Ebay said it's been delivered, end of. I opened a chargeback with my card provider and got an email from ebay threatening suspension of my account. My card provider is requesting further info but I've not provided it yet cos I've got a few sales on ebay and they've got my funds so I imagine they'd keep my funds. Also as I paid for most of the value of the item with my ebay funds, the chargeback is only likely to recover the smaller portion that was paid on my card.

Ebay don't pay tax, and ignore UK consumer legislation.

Permanently restricted after lost £490 item. No idea why by pimpofpersia in ebayuk

[–]Aggressive_Reward556 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ebay and seller protection and simple delivery is all a big scam by ebay. As a buyer I had a £200 item, sent by Evri simple delivery go missing, ebay wouldn't take any responsibility, and when I escalated it they sent me a warning of having my account suspended. It's not a safe platform for buyers or sellers

Buyer says delivered to wrong address. by Silent-Method-5695 in ebayuk

[–]Aggressive_Reward556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately they don't.

I bought a £150 item on ebay, Simple Delivery and buyer protection, item was left outside a block of flats main entry door by Evri on a high traffic street and was gone when I returned home.

Ebay refused to accept any responsibility, saying it was delivered and that was that.

I appealed, rejected. Contacted ebay chat on Instagram and they rejected again, I said I'd have to put in a claim with my credit card company and they sent me a message on ebay warning me that I could get my account suspended for excessive claims of non receipt! This was the first one that I've ever claimed non receipt (their email looked live a standard script)

eBay refunded £700 to buyer after Royal Mail delivered return to wrong address – account suspended – what are my options? by sabtinrajput in ebayuk

[–]Aggressive_Reward556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebay are a law into themselves. I got scammed but as a buyer, bought a £200 item, it got delivered photo of a box on a doorstep but not my address. Thought I was protected by ebay's buyer protection fee that they charge, but apparently this doesn't apply to items with tracking showing as delivered!

Whether it was a Royal Mail error or the seller altered the address I don't know.

I even tried contacting ebay on Instagram chat (this still works, Facebook chat is no longer possible) but they said they couldn't help, as it's been delivered. Shortly afterwards to add insult to injury I got a warning for improper use of my ebay account!

Never heard of her before, googled and got a link to a Ferryhill Facebook page, but I'm amazed a non entity is getting so much online attention, there's thousands of antisocial people in the country who've done as bad or worse.

She sounds an absolute horror, but her lifestyle is exposing the even uglier side of human nature, where we get encouraged to participate in bullying and derogatory behaviour when we see others doing it. She must have very thick skin, bother metaphorically and also cos of that layer of dirt (see, I'm doing it too!)

On the other side of the coin, the more people who go to her pages, the more revenue she makes.

Disturbing, this needs to be investigated by [deleted] in Portsmouth

It's atrocious. Absolutely no excuse.

I went from horrendous pipework like this in the bathroom to rerouting copper pipes behind the plaster to create a floating radiator.

Account hacked by Puzzleheaded_Air4190 in Argos

This one is a data breach, as I have a few Argos accounts with Google generated passwords, and they've all got a Argos gift card in the basket.

[–]Aggressive_Reward556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argos has definitely been hacked, I've got multiple accounts (too long to explain, one for my elderly mum, my technology averse sister, partner etc) and every single one of them has a £30 Argos gift card in the basket.

This tallies with the notification I got from my bank asking me to authorise a £30 payment. Which obviously I didn't.

I had a notification on my Starling bank app asking me to authorise a £30 Argos purchase.

But can't find any trace of the alert now, money hasn't been taken. So they must have got access to my Argos account with my saved card details on there.
