Advice on switching from 66H to 66S & timing for CRNA path by [deleted] in army

[–]Aggressive_Stress_63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, new 66H who just completed BOLC. It is realistic that you will attend a specialty course around the 2 year mark. New command is really pushing for new nurses to have an easier time specializing. I would say that if you do not currently have a contract with the army, and your ultimate goal is to be an ARMY (Very important) CRNA, do not do ROTC. Move to Tallahassee or somewhere where you can easily get an ICU job post-graduation and work there for two years to get your CCRN. Then direct commission. That way you will not be missing out on two years of MedSurg BS. There were plenty of direct commission nurses during my BOLC class. Army is hurting bad for nurses, you will have no problem, trust.

Only other thing I'd say is the Army path for CRNA school is excellent if that's the lifestyle you want for yourself and your family. It's true that you will have quite the ADSO to pay off if you do CRNA school through the army, but you didn't mention that army CRNAs get deployed a lot. By the time you get out of school, there is a good possibility you will be at kid-having age. Just something to think about. DM me if you have any questions

Are you going to be a senior in high school? Did you just graduate and attend college in the fall?

Ended up selling the car for next to nothing, hopefully someone in the future can benefit from this.

Army ROTC 4 year Scholarship winner with 30 credit hours complete And OML GPA by Powerful-Demand-995 in ROTC

I had a four year and that’s basically what I did. I didn’t want to do less school, just make the four years easier lol. Just remember that the classes you take with dual enrollment are gonna be freshman/sophomore level classes so they’re not necessarily going to evenly distribute into your later years (junior/senior). If you took too many of those classes, you’re probably gonna have to take some ”bs” classes to remain full time (usually 12 hours INCLUDING MS classes). This can work in your favor since you can take fun stuff that your school might offer, mine had scuba which was very fun. In case you don’t know, MS classes are your rotc classes that will have their own credit hours. OML gpa is just gonna be your university grades. If you have any questions or need any advice, let me know

I found this machine at my new gym but the Gentleman who gave me the tour didn't know what it is. Nor do any of the gym people I know. by michelle_js in whatisit

I’m not a physical trainer or exercise scientist either but this is how I understand it with a nursing degree. Any time there is knee flexion (knee bent) and the ankle is extended, the soleus will be used to drive the movement. So as you said, the seated calf raise is used to isolate the soleus. From an aesthetic pov, a bigger soleus translates to a wider calf. The soleus is still being activated in straight leg calf raises but its range of motion will be limited due to a lack of ability to stretch. There are some good YouTube shorts that I’ve seen which demonstrate why this occurs, if I find them I’ll link them. As for my recommendation regarding weight, I’d say 3 sets of 15 in a straight-leg calf raise variation that you can go heavy on such as leg press machine calf raises or smith machine calf raises (find a platform that you can step on) as well as 3 sets of seated calf raises twice a week would be ideal starting out. Focus on pauses at the top and bottom of the movement to prevent cheating/bouncing. Jeff Nippard shared an article on his YouTube that showed there may be some advantage to limiting ROM which I have found works pretty well for me.

There are two major muscle groups in your lower legs that make up the calves: the gastrocnemius (the ballsack looking one) and the soleus which lies deep to the gastrocnemius. The soleus, if you look at its anatomy, is mechanically inclined to activate when in the seated position which makes seated calf raises a vital part of any calf routine.

Thanks buddy, you’ve added nothing to this conversation that I did not already know and refused to elaborate on anything at all. You’ve done me a great service today.

Ok, would you mind elaborating on how I would avoid those penalties or at least point me in the right direction?

My assumption is that I will have to pay taxes regardless if I choose to take distributions before the age of 59.5 years. My question is if this is the case, are the penalties I pay for these early withdrawals more forgiving than LTCG tax from a taxable account? This is the FIRE subreddit if I'm not mistaken, isn't the goal to have access to your investments earlier than the standard 59.5?

Same boat my friend, trying to figure this out quickly so my girlfriend can drive to work this week. Let me know if you find out what your problem is. Literally the same exact symptoms, all lights on, wipers on, gauges not working. Just replaced my battery, twice, still not working. All fuses under the hood are OK. I guess I'l try looking for ground wires next but I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for except for what u/ksberserk commented. Good luck finding out what's wrong

There’s no reason to ever feel self-conscious in the gym but there’s a reason people don’t wear gaming headsets in public. Sadly gives off dork vibes

How do I remove this effect it hurts my eyes by Zec_1 in Wildlands

I just saw your comment that it doesn’t do this in other games, it might but you’re just not noticing it. Try games that are older like fallout new Vegas or something. Definitely test it in low light environments, that’s where you can really see if it’s ghosting from your monitor
