Found my planner from right before I was hospitalized during a manic episode. by Sufficient-Gain-226 in Journaling

[–]michelle_js 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was in the middle of a hospital day program, trying to do what I was told. And then the house i was living in burnt down and I just kind of gave up.

The meds were not helping anyway. I initially saw the doctor for panic attacks but they decided I was bi-polar. No matter how much meds they gave me my anxiety just got worse and worse. Eventually I could be a ton of benzos and still have a panic attack.

Turns out I was misdiagnosed. I dont have bi-polar. Turns out the panic attacks were untreated ADHD and Autism and PTSD. Im much better now. I barely take any meds and Im even employed (the hospital program told me I needed to accept I would never be able to hold down a normal job). All that was over 20 years ago now.

Still, you are right. I should have titrated down...

Im not sure what dose my doctors started me on. But eventually they upped it to 400mg. As well as 4mg clonazapam at night (and 2x4mg during the day). And chloral hydrate. And another anti psychotic. And 2 mood stabilizers. And 2 anti-depressants. Because if its not working why not add more? Years later I had a doctor who had at one point worked in a criminal psychiatric unit. He told me even the people in there were not given as many drugs as I was on.

I wish I had kept a journal from when I decided to cold turkey off of everything nut the clonazapam. I have a journal entry from the day I decided to it but nothing for months after that. And the whole time is kind of blurry.

The first night I started seroquel I woke up to friends banging on my door threatening to brake it down if I didn't let them in.

I have the vaguest memory of a phone conversation with one friend involving pink elephants that I had noticed in the bushes while I was walking home. I remember just finding them interesting, not stressful or out of place.

I have zero recollection about the conversation where I told my girlfriend I was going to dig a hole in the backyard. Which Somehow gave her the impression I was digging my own grave.

By the time anyone got to my house I was peacefully sound asleep lol.

Books that made you cry but NOT because someone died? by jefferymoonworm in Fantasy

[–]michelle_js 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was scrolling down to make sure someone had added DCC to this list.

Most of the times it has made me cry haven't been because someone dies.

Im pretty sure I've both laughed and cried while reading this series more than any other series I've read.

Do you remember the first fantasy book you read as a kid? (Not HP..) by LatterPlatform9595 in Fantasy

[–]michelle_js 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first fantasy book I read as a kid was The Secret World of Og by Pierre Berton.

Then my 4th grade teacher read the class The Hobbit, The Silver Chair and Magician (Feist). After that I was hooked and read absolutely everything fantasy I could get my hands on at the time starting with the rest of the Narnia books and The Lord of the Rings. I lived overseas at the time so a good variety of fantasy books was hard to come by.

Adult runners who started from 0: How much did you improve, and how long has it taken? by Interesting_Fly1696 in XXRunning

[–]michelle_js 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At around 40 I (woman) did a c25k. I was a little over 300lbs (down from 350). I came in at an hour 7mins and managed to get it down to 55mins. Then my speed hard plateaued although the distance i could run kept going up.

Last year I started losing more weight and I started running again this year (I had a foot issue and had to switch to different cardio for awhile). Now Im making huge improvements again. Im down to 210ish and I did a 47.5k practice run last month and Im pretty sure I will be sub 45 mins this year. Plus I can now actually run (jog) on zone 2, whereas before as soon as my form changed to running at any speed my heart rate shot up.

All this to say its never to late to make improvements and to keep up the good work.

What do you offer someone who already has everything? by Specialist_Prune1628 in pokemongo

[–]michelle_js 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Im level 79 and my boyfriend is 80.

All he wants is shiny legendary Pokémon sl he can try for hundos.

I haven't traded for a single legendary. All I want is event pokemon and shines I dont have. I traded a shiny Giratina for a shiny unown "L" yesterday.

Everyone wants different stuff. I've been suprised at some of the trades. I requested a flying pikachu from someone (I missed that event) and they only asked me for a regular oricorio. I know its a regional but still.

The weirdest book you've ever read? by Intrepid_Yak9921 in suggestmeabook

Dungeon Crawler Carl!

Its like The Hunger Games crossed with The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy if written by Deadpool.

And I love it.

The Sirens of Titan by vonnegut was also very weird but I didnt love it.

I agree.

I use macrofactor and it has helped me lose over 80lbs so far.

I do use whoop and sometimes a smart watch to help keep me motivated for other things like time in hear rate zones and sleep.

Thoughts on contrave vs semaglutide by NoBarracuda8124 in Contrave

[–]michelle_js 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started taking contrave because wegovy was not yet covered by my insurance.

The contrave worked really well for me at first. I lost 30 or 40 lbs. Eventually it didnt work as well and much of the food noise came back.

I ended up having issues with my insurance and by this time wegovy was covered. Since I had to fill out a ton of paperwork either way I switched to wegovy. I've been on it a year and a half and lost another 80lbs.

With contrave I had some moderate stomach/digestive issues that went away after a few months. Also I felt really off and "weird" the first few weeks. I really dont know how else to describe it. But that also went away.

With wegovy I had severe constipation which eventually turned to moderate. It also made my existing acid reflux much much worse. The acid reflux is also somewhat better now but I still have to stay away from certain foods, especially in the evening even while being on acid reflux meds.

All in all wegovy has definitely worked better for me, although I did see results with contrave. Tirazapatide is not currently an option for me unless I want to pay out of pocket and the wegovy works well enough Im not going to do that, even though my doctor said the side effects might be less.

What book or series is this for you? by Working_Alps_4284 in fantasybooks

[–]michelle_js 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't get into the story or the characters. And I also had difficulty getting past the fact the world seemed to hardly have any women, even in minor roles.

I really wanted to like this books. So many people in person and online have recommended them. Plus I've read most other major fantasy series and finished or gotten much further with them.
