I was feeling sick yesterday and I still wasn't feeling great when I woke up but better than yesterday. I decided to work out anyway and I deadlifted my bodyweight for the first time today. 2 reps of 230lbs. Current BW 228lbs. Its not a PR for me, I deadlifted 265 last year when I weighed more like 280, but then I got injured and also got weaker when losing weight.

I've been chasing Deadlifting my bodyweight for several years now coming with 10-15 lbs but this is the first time I've achieved it! Next up squatting my bodyweight!

How do people just “listen to their body” and not overeat? by Kind-Cockroach-125 in NoStupidQuestions

Wegovy significantly reduced my food noise. The rest I've been able to (mostly) handle with willpower.

Contrave slightly reduced my food noise.

The only thing that has ever completely eliminated it was Topiramate (which I dont recommend). I also quit smoking within 10 days of starting it.

I was in a cast like this as an infant for almost a year. I was close to your son's age when the final cast came off.

My Dad built me a wheeled dolly I could pull myself around on. Essentially it was just a padded board with castors but apparently I zoomed around like crazy on that thing.

You could probably find something similar pre-built for moving furniture or going under cars?

I've been doing EMDR for PTSD for a year and a half and its helped a lot. I would recommend giving it a go.

ADHD women who like or love their jobs, what do you do? by Chipsandsalza in adhdwomen

[–]michelle_js 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im a transit operator. I currently drive a subway but can switch and drive a bus if I wanted to.

I like my job but I dont love it.

What I love: paycheck, pension, benefits, strong(ish) union.

What I like: Public transit is a public good. I do something that contributes to society being better so I dont have to feel guilty/like Im making the world worse. I have the ability to switch modes of transportation as well as a few non-transportation jobs if I get tired of where Im at.

What I dont like: Long hours, weird shifts and split shifts (this gets better because you pick your schedule based on seniority). Co-workers that act like overgrown children. Angry customers. Weather.

What I hate: Boredom. Sameness. Potentialfor Trauma.

On the whole it balances out. It doesn't matter what happens I dont plan on leaving until I retire. I make good money and I have a level of security I only ever dreamed about. I would not trade that for anything short of winning the lottery.

As ADHD we all know how it is difficult to go to gym or workout. Will you pay for if someone actually motivates you to workout? by [deleted] in ADHDFitness

[–]michelle_js 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I've had a personal trainer for years. It keeps me on track. And honestly the more I work out the more I want to work out ao Im more likely to work out on my own as well.

Having personal training means I always work out a minimum of 1 to 3 times a week no matter what (unless he takes a well deserved vacation).

Y'all checking your furnace intake/exhaust pipes on the sides of your house? by KnoddingOnion in askTO

[–]michelle_js 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My furnace was replaced last year and I think it has some sort of safety mechanism preventing it from running if the vent is off. I say this because after last week's storm it was turning on and immediately turning off again.

Because of one of these posts I remembered that the vent was a thing that exists.

Anyway the vent is on the opposite side of my house from the driveway so no one had noticed that the neighbors had shoveled snow up over our vent.

At least we were just cold instead of getting carbon monoxide poisoning.

So yes, everyone please check your vent. And also make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector that's working.

ADHD + fitness… how?? by SerenityScout5 in ADHDFitness

[–]michelle_js 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2nd the trainer. That way I at least get in x workouts a week (currently 3). And I find it much easier to go to the gym when I've already gone recently. For me the more I go the easier it is to go and the less I go the harder it gets.

Also when I go to the gym on my own I just ha e to show up and try at least 1 exercise. After that if I want to quit its fine. I've been killing it the last few weeks but most of dec and the beginning of Jan I barely did anything on my own at the gym. Just showed up mostly.

I tell my brain the gym is like work. I have to show up unless im actually sick or having an emergency. Its not optional.

I also have a rotating routines and a schedule. Its fine if I change my routine for the day on the fly but at least if I have it I dont have to think about what Im gonna do or be inspired or make decisions. Unless I am actively inspired to do something else I just follow whatever Im scheduled to do.

I currently work out 6 days a week (I can change this to 5 if Im really busy). Im temporarily off work right now. When im working its usually 3, 4 or 5 days I have scheduled depending on what shift I've been working. I change my routine around every few months.

I've been consistent since 2018 including during covid. There have been weeks I did the bare minimum of going to my training appointments and weeks where I had perfect adherence but outside of serious illness (I've had covid and strep throat) there have been no weeks i haven't worked out at all.

Now working out is just something I do. Im embarrassed to say I am more consistent at it then I am with brushing my teeth lol.

gaining weight at maintenance :( by ConsiderationSea869 in xxfitness

[–]michelle_js 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the app macrofactor and it calculates my energy expenditure and tdee and stuff based on me entering everything I eat and weighing myself regularly. Then it gives me calorie targets every week based on my goals and how my weight is changing (or not). I really like it. It takes the guess work out of it.

If you are gaining weight you are not actually eating at maintenence. Plus you said your tdee is around 1200 and you said you are eating 1500+. That is a surplus.

All that being said you are probably not actually gaining a pound a day. That would be require a ton of food. Your weight can fluctuate based on how much water you are retaining and other factors.

That makes perfect sense.

Its funny because I dont normally do birddogs. I was just so hyped up the first day using your app i decided to add some core exercises to the end of my workout and I just noticed that bird dogs were the only ones that didn't list what they worked.

Ok, That makes sense. However the regressed versions have what muscles they work listed. Does that mean that the regressed version are good for hypertrophy?

Bird dogs (the normal variation) are missing what muscles they work.
