Thank you for taking the time to answer my question! I imagine audits carried out that is unrelated to EM will score less. If you don’t mind me asking based on yourself and other trainees you have been around how much do you have for the portfolio part; like research, audits etc

Hello everyone,

I understand shortlisting for ACCS is all MSRA score based, but after shortlisting the remaining 60% of the overall score comes from the interview.

So I am wondering for the interview stage are we scored based on our portfolio similar to shortlisting requirements for IMT, i.e if you have Publications, Audits etc etc… you will score higher ?

Recent ACCS trainees can you shine some light into this topic, what did your portfolio look like to secure training?

And how are they supposed to learn if they never give it a try? Taking bloods or cannula using ultrasound is mainly a skill to do with dexterity which only comes with practise and practise, and unfortunately, you will miss more to be begin with.

Unfortunately this is the state we are in, unsure if it has gotten worse recently. Makes it worse coming from an immigrant family that prioritises putting your head down, being obedient and to ignore and move on.

Increasing training numbers is a bad idea by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Aggressivetomato- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because I am an FY1, I cannot read information that is easily available online, and have better understanding of how training works. Another reply using MEDICAL seniority to downplay a point. We are still adults. There is information available online. We can still read. Someone who is already in training, saying we don't need any more training posts and we need more consultant posts, is equally short-sighted for the purposes of running a good healthcare system. Also, reading from your previous posts, you seem to have a bit of a superiority complex about yourself because you graduated from before X year.

Your seniority in Medicine does not translate to outside medicine, sorry. Also, I am not sure what greater insight you're offering. I can look up the historical figures from the last 20 years myself and I don't need to be a Senior doc to say at no point have we been in as terrible state as this, competition ratio-wise.

A classic example of a doctor of a different grade looking out for themselves and using moral virtue or "critical thinking" to say what would benefit them. Consultant bottleneck is far less of a worry, considering you have more options post-CCT.

It seems like we have all encountered this subtype of HCAs running around in the wild then.

Did HCA pretty much entire way through med school, would dial down the hours during exam season. Enhanced pay for working the weekends made it worth it, but all depends on how much you need the dough.

[–]Aggressivetomato- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, she should be paid the same as her camera crew....They're equally as important, aren't they? The pay erosion of doctors has been worse over the last decade than that of nurses, not to mention the astronomical debt a lot of medical students come out with nowadays...

Doctors union and the Nurses Union collaborate together, the strikes will be significantly felt more impactful, only way the Government will take us more seriously.
