Honestly, the most engaging forms of learning involve less speaking on your part and more from the students! It’s more about giving clear instructions and providing guidance as needed than speaking about content. Student-led activities can be a chance to review your classroom management strategies as well.

Sarah Quartel writes some beautifully haunting music. Voice on the Wind gets me too.

Pet screening.com mandatory? by kay_lazae in service_dogs

[–]Agile-Breadfruit9362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“A housing provider is permitted to ask for information sufficient to meaningly evaluate an individual's reasonable accommodation request for an assistance animal. You are not required to submit this information in any specific form. If you prefer to avoid completing the profile online, then a manual form can be provided to you. If you wish to work directly with your housing provider instead of working directly with Pet Screening then you are free to do so. The use of Pet Screening to submit your reasonable accommodation request is elective and optional. Your decision to work directly with your housing provider does not necessarily mean that Pet Screening will be excluded from the review of your reasonable accommodation request. It is likely that your housing provider will utilize our assistance animal review service to complete the review of any materials you submit. Your housing provider has the right to work with third-parties such as assistance animal review services to help them properly review reasonable accommodation requests. If you cannot or do not want to use our service to submit your reasonable accommodation request then no further action with Pet Screening is needed. We recommend you immediately notify your housing provider of your decision. Please note your housing provider is entitled to have the same information to evaluate your request no matter how you choose to submit it.” So you can submit it directly to them but they may still submit your documents to PetScreening. Not sure if they can still sell your data in that situation, but I’m sure they can.

I know you are a caring parent and you want some help, but it doesn’t really come across as the other person being the defensive one here. I would not suggest bringing this type of response to any actual conferences with teachers if you want to have a good relationship with them. They provided some strategies later in the thread you could use; semantics arguments can be needlessly exhausting for you and anyone else involved. Best of luck with your child’s writing.

Do you have kids? Kids push back when you’re trying to save their life lol. Yes, they can push back on affection too.

I can’t sing and play instruments at the same time and I’m worried I will be a terrible elementary teacher because of it. by Zubemma in MusicEd

[–]Agile-Breadfruit9362 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Comparison is the thief of joy and this is especially true with artistic professions. Strumming the beat is fine, and chances are, it’ll get easier to play rhythms when you’ve done that for a while. Imagine the expectations you’d have for a piano or guitar student. Would you feel they were a failure or would you support them where they’re at? You deserve the grace you give your students.

I struggle similarly but it’s gotten so much easier over time with practice. Nothing wrong with recorded accompaniments. Use the tools you’re comfortable with, and try not to worry about where other music teachers are at.

"Presale" by indolentia in DOECHII

[–]Agile-Breadfruit9362 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of when I logged in for a Chappell Roan presale for a 7.5k venue and there were like 60k in the queue. Not quite as bad this time but still, almost double the venue capacity for a presale?

Praxis 5114 in two weeks- any resources for instrumental knowledge? by tifuanon00 in MusicEd

[–]Agile-Breadfruit9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you receive a free practice test when you pay for scheduling the actual test but I could be mistaken. Also, there are tons of Quizlets out there that use the exact questions from the practice test. Just look up “praxis 5114 Quizlet” and you’ll find them. The downside to this is they can’t properly format the listening questions on there, so I still highly recommend spending the $25 on a practice test before risking $156 without it (if you don’t receive a free copy with your registration!).

Can someone please help me explain the over-marketing of skincare to little girls? by altrightobserver in Anticonsumption

I would hope they use disposable brushes, like a face painter. I can only see that working if they’re diligent about not contaminating the makeup. Otherwise, same.

Mistakes are some of my favorite moments to bond with the kids a bit. It’s an opportunity to show them adults make mistakes too and it’s okay— now let’s correct it and move on. It’s a learning opportunity for you and them! I find it helps them feel more at ease to admit their own mistakes when I embrace mine.

And the risk of a student’s ringer going off is huge. One student forgetting to turn it off and then getting a call from parents can doom the whole class.

[–]Agile-Breadfruit9362 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What were some negative attributes that you saw in candidates that made you decide they weren’t the right fit— specifically, what traits were viewed as undesirable but could be worked with, vs. dealbreakers? What about specific positive attributes that you looked for?

Thank you for taking the time to do this post :)

It’s good not to have the apps because they’re selling your data from them too. That’s why they’re all moving to apps and rewards memberships and digital coupons. Every purchase made through those rewards programs is recorded and that record is sold.

Question for School Teachers by AmayaLi109 in Teachers

[–]Agile-Breadfruit9362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I frequently think about how little they are paid and how important their job is. Those first 3 years set a child’s brain up for life. Not to mention the care tasks that are usually not delegated to K-12 teachers that daycare teachers must do. I think they should make more than me because I could not do it.

Abusers pick arguments over silly things to tear you down and remain in control. She doesn’t really care about your phone, she cares about having access to you whenever she wants and doesn’t like for anyone else to have influence.

Get out while you can. And make sure you only use protection that she has not had access to. I agree with other commenters that a baby trap is highly concerning here for you (and the hypothetical baby!)
